He got caught up in a prostitution ring.
His career in politics is pretty much over.

I'd say he got REALLY lucky.

Then again, CNN said he wasn't going to resign. That's a pretty gutsy thing, either that or you people in New York are a lot more laid back than voters in most places.

Come to think of it, given the governor we have, I wouldn't feel too bad if the worst thing our governor did was get caught up in a prostitution ring.

^You sure about him not resigning? I heard that he's already replaced by the deputy govenor, some legally blind black guy that's the first black govenor of NY or something.

Yep, it looks like he isn't the governor (at least not yet), but he's first in line to take his place (ie lieutenant governor, like a vice president of a state).

I've seen that picture. It was in my local paper as well. One of my friends hung it up with "Where will you be when your constipation comes back?" written under it.

Locked up for life for paying someone for sex?

I don't think what he did was THAT bad. Bad, yes. Maybe even horrible, considering he was in a position of power, and he cheated on his wife doing it, but nowhere near "lock up for life" bad.

I think a person needs a certain personality to become a politician. You gotta really want power, and have a desire to be loved by many many people. Maybe you also want to help people and change the world for the better, but I think the primary motivation for many politicians is a desire for power, whether or not they'll admit it to themselves or others.

I think a man with that type of personality is also the type that won't turn away opportunities to touch another woman besides his wife. And it's one of the spoils after having worked so hard to attain the power. I think many men get into that line of work and enjoy the perks, including the occasional extra-marital affair.
