I don't know if this has been discussed before but what are everyones views on the christian leaders (as ABC put it) that are "trying to put the Christ back in Christmas.

To me, Christ will never be removed from Christmas. Nor shall he be removed from Advent, Epiphany, Lent, or Easter (Pentecost is more the Holy Spirit's season).

I believe it is both morally and legally wrong for government officials to exclude church groups from participating in Christmas activities. After all, Christmas is about Jesus' Incarnation.

I will point this out. Most government officials who try to restrict church groups in Christmas activities do so out of paranoia, not hostility. Most of them are scared to death that some obscure person is going to complain and sue them for allowing it.

Have you people heard about the kid who coulden't hand out his Candy Cane Treets because they said the red stripes were representing Jesus' Blood? I Don't see how people could do stuff like that but then turn around and state that a comment on another religion/topic was free speach.

If anyone tries to make me take Christ out of Christmas, they lose all credibility with me in an instant.

As for the non-religious... if you take Christianity so personally that you refuse to have a good time during the Christmas season, you should be fined $5.

But Eric Chabrow, who is Jewish, says his son, Sam, should be able to play Christmas songs in the high school band. Chabrow is a part of "blue" America and generally supports the separation of church and state.

Hmm, I like how someone who self-proclaimedly supports separation of church and state is advocating exactly the opposite.

I don't see what the fuss is about. Most of what has been put up for mocking in here is perfectly acceptable secular governing. State-sponsored advocation of religion is against the constitution, and for good reason. Those famous two words in the so-called land of equality's Pledge of Allegiance spring to mind.

That candy cane case is, of course, so ridiculous that I shouldn't have to point it out. It's an entirely different kettle of fish from a state school playing religious carols in their concert.
