I just found an amazing quiz to determine where you are in relation to society in the political world:

The Political Compass

I'm actually quite happy with my result:

in relation to the rest of the world:

Sorry if this is a bit off topic, but the quiz is really quite amazing and accurate. I highly recommend it.

FYI, somebody posted a very similar quiz long ago in the Political Affiliations thread.

I'm not good at this "memory" thing. Well, hey, at least I tried to search--though "Compass" (from 'political compass') returned nothing.. oh well, sorry!

I thought this test was a little better than that first one.

Don't forget Gandhi! I too am close to them, and I'm rather honored.

Well, I don't remember the exact dimensions of where it placed me, but if a line was drawn between Nelson Mandela and Gandhi, on that line somewhere is around my "score".

Actually, 3 people so far have gotten a result further to the left than you, and you were only 0.2 more left then I.

Here are my results:
Economic Left/Right:-6.75
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian:-3.49
It seems to be accurate, though I thought that my social score would be slightly lower than my economic score. I am not supprised by my results, though.

I tried to post a picture of my graph, but all it would let me post was one little square.
Anyway, here's my score:
Economic Left/Right: -6.13
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.62
I'm not surprised; that's pretty much what I expected.

A little too left and liberal than what I expected; I thought I would be close to the center. But I'm happier with these results than being a "fair and balanced" kind of guy, becuase sometimes the other side is so different, dead center becomes skewed out of proportion.

I'm pretty outnumbered here. So far, I'm the only person on the forum in Quadrant I.

Actually, no, you're not. Look at the dot that represents Ghandi, it's well beyond the half-way mark on the economic line. Suggesting he's at least a -6. Same with the Libertarian line, it's about a quarter/third down. So, more accurately, I'm the closest to Ghandi dangit! :p

Actually, I'd be interested to know how they got Ghandi's stats. Did they travel back in time and quiz him in person? Or did they merely make up some numbers they felt like represented him and post them?

I'm pretty sure they had historians carefully answer the questions the way they believe ghandi would have

Well, on the tip from Mr. Biafra, I'm reviving this dead thread.

Your political compass:
Economic Left/Right: -8.63
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -8.77

Image
Yikes, this puts me right in the libertarian socialist (classical anti-capitalist anarchism) range. I'm not really surprised, though. From each according to his ability, to each according to his need, baby!

I guess I have changed a little bit since last year. I am still a Moderate Democrat. Moderates PWN.
