The best way to learn about the LDS beliefs is to go to the source.

http://www.lds.org or http://www.mormon.org/ are both great resources.

I'm a born, raised, and practicing Methodist. I'm also rather devout- I get all guilt-ridden if I even consider trying to skip church on Sunday.

Did you know that there is at least one United Methodist church in every county in the United States, but there isn't a post office in every US county?

now seeing all the strict stuff I see in the bible, I think I may want to just be a plain buddhist.

Here is what Wikipedia says about Buddhism, and here is Christianity. I am going to let you guys decide which one is "easier".

If you were Lutheran, I'd think you'd be more like Martin Luther and want to stand on the Word of God, as he stated at the Diet of Worms. I'd also think that your spirituality would be distinctly cross-centered and Christ-centered, as Luther's was. I don't think there's really that much room for Buddhist or Muslim philosophy in Lutheran thinking. But that's just my Concordia Seminary education and my pastorate of two Lutheran churches speaking so take it for what it's worth.

I geuss I'm kinda athiest then. an athiest with his own phlosiphy mixed with buddhist. theres so much stuff going on with religion, it gets a bit frustrating.

also I dont like thinking about going to hell because I dont do this or that, so I give, and If I do go to hell big deal, least I had a fun life.

 Because it's just logic to prefer eternal suffering and pain after death over worshipping a divine presence while living.

But this probably isn't the place.

Still a Methodist.

It may have been a fun life, but that's one rough eternity afterwards you're looking at.

Still Christian.

You do realize the the Buddhists believe that one doesn't remember their past life, right?

If the Buddhists are still around, even though their various lives are committed to breaking the cycle of reincarnation, isn't it just proof that their religion is failing?

What good is it going to do you, then, if you sin during your "good time" now, and then re-emerge as a donkey or some lower form in the Buddhist religion?

No, I mean, that Buddhist souls are supposed to eventually stop reincarnating, so that would mean eventually there would be no Buddhists left.

Toast to the paint, m'man.

Ahh, but we can't assume there will never be new Buddhists. Also, it would probably take a long time for them to get holy enough to stop reincarnating. [/devil's advocate]

Anyway, still Catholic. It's really weird that I'm Catholic, man. I disagree with them on just about every social issue they get themselves involved in, but I still stick around.

I'm so gosh-darn holy.

Those of you arguing about reincarnation & Buddhism obviously don't know/ understand enough about it to really be making those comments and I kind of find them offensive.

I do not believe in God or a "Higher Power". I am not an athiest. I am a Jelloist, and that's the way it's always gonna be.

Yes I am Buddhist, but don't worry, I understand where your assumptions about reincarnation were coming from. We believe in the idea of rebirth, not reincarnation.

Here is some info that may help you to understand.

Khan Earl, I am also continually learning about the Buddha's teachings and I applaud you for looking into some of his truths.
