To Buddhists (as opposed to Hinduists), karma means "action".

Action is real, therefore, karma is real

Anyway, besides your random stab at the fact that someone you don't like because he speaks his mind happens to be overweight, why don't you give some reasoning behind you ideas?

I personally do not think karma exists. There are plenty of people who do bad things and get away with it, and there are plenty of people who do good things and never get rewarded.

Most people who do bad things have problems. So I would not really think many people truly get away with it. To put it another way, few criminals are happy. So long as they maintain a criminal state of mind, they cannot be happy. If that's not punishment, what is?

For people who do good, in the same vein, there's the old maxim, "virtue is its own reward".

I know that that's normally the case, but that's only because of our own minds. If you're idea of karma is that "if you do good things, you'll be happy" then that's true because when you do good things, you are happy. And when you do bad things, you're generally unhappy. That's what guilt and pride are.

I hate to quote the dictionary again, but...

That's not just generally being happy or sad. That's actually affecting what happens in the future because of what you do in the present.

And what about sociopaths? They can do horrible things and feel no remorse.

I wouldn't really trust a dictionary's definition of karma because it would be slanted toward a "western" definition.

This is kind of a blend of the notions of my post and the more conventional notion of karma (i.e., karma as the West usually understands it).

In both Hinduism and some kinds of Buddhism, karma can also affect future lives as well as the present lives. This goes beyond the simplistic "if you're bad, you come back as a bug", of course.

Personally I think the word "karma" is loaded yet meaningless. It's a word one uses more often to sound cool than to actually communicate a point.
