okay, okay, okay, enough with the toppings! ive had enough for one lifetime, anyways, what could be between the universes? since the space-time-continuem is curved, could that mean thet the univers is to, another words could be that it all would look like this: ..:::::::::..::..:: each dot represents a univers, what could be between them? white? emptyness? how copuld they all be connected?[/img] |

Scientists have theorized that a huge structure called the Multiverse contains all of the Universes. And who knows how many Multiverses there could be? What contains them? ...Again, these are just things I've heard, but I like to think there are multiple Universes. |

JohnTheTinyCowboy wrote: As you said, ours is just one of an infinite number of Universes. Some scientists have theorized that a new universe is spawned whenever a possible change can occur. For example, there may be a Universe where President Kennedy was never assassinated, and this is the only difference. Well, that's better, but still not quite true. If the bullet missed Kennedy, that would have been the only change up until that point. But a change like that would have repercussions. For a start, he would have governed for two more years, if not six. Which would have meant differences in global politics at the time, as well as different dates in all history books. And, as we all know, it could cause even odder differences; meandering cause and effect might cause you not to be born. So I find it hard to believe that, even if your "new universe for every change" theory is correct, JFK's survival would actually be the only difference. Didymus wrote: I'm not arguing against the possibility of alien life. In topics like this, I like to keep an open mind. But I am pretty sure that modern science has not yet proven the existence of multiple universes yet. Even that's possible, though, just extremely difficult to prove.
Oh no, definitely not proven. Few things in science are proven. As many evolutionists will tell you, "even gravity is just a theory". But it's definitely the leading theory amongst the top scientists of today. I saw this documentary about it on 4. See, apparently (and this is the point where it starts sounding more than a little weird) our universe is a rippling membrane floating around in the eleventh dimension (yes, the eleventh one) with an infinite amount of other universes. And whenever two collide, a new one is formed. It's called m-theory. I mean, it sounds like nonsense, but then, so does the notion that the planet we walk on is a sphere. |

Why is the notion that our planet is a sphere nonsense? Are you a closet member of the Flat Earth Society or something? |

Upsilon, what I should've wrote was that Kennedy not getting assassinated would have been the only change up to that point. Naturally, history would have been very different had he lived. |

Don't get me wrong, I don't doubt the planet's sphericality. But to look around you, you wouldn't think that we're on a ball that's spinning around and hurtling through space. |

i aggree with that membrane thing. but my question is, what is between those Universes? is it just a blank white space that extends on for ever? and if so, how did all of it get there?..... hmm,..... maybee between them are wormholes linking them all together, or something. or maybee there are several million universes that are multiplying, but are in an enclosed space, and they are being pushed into each other and are causing more to be created and will eventually end up into a HUGE BANG that will destroy every univers in it and will eventually retract and form another enclosed space and more universes.......hmmm..... |

There are 3 things I know: 1. Chances are that the universe (or possibly the multiverse) will get too big for its own good and collapse in on its self making "The big Crunch" 2. The only we will EVER be able to search planets as far as the multiverse may go is by wormholes, no lies. It's also the only reasonable explination to how UFOs get here (not that I believe in UFOs). 3. If ailen life is any kind of close then they should be getting old radio transmissons about now, probably stuff from the 20s. |

As for how the Universe (maybe Multiverse) will end, they're pretty sure that it will either collapse in on itself in a Big Crunch, or expand forever completely empty. I prefer the Big Crunch, personally. I don't like the idea of eternal, frigid nothingness. |

Some say the world will end in fire; Some say in ice. From what I've tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate To know that for destruction ice Is also great And would suffice. - Robert Frost |

I knew someone would quote that poem sooner or later. It's really appropriate for the topic, isn't it? |

All this talk of multiverses is making me think of the movie "The One", with Jet Lee. Awesome movie. Also, if a poem only has one verse, is it a universe?
