I'm sorry, but I've had enough of posting here. All it accomplishes is bringing up controversy, making rifts between posters and establishing cyclical arguments to which nobody can win. How can we discuss the existence of a God is there is no concrete evidence to support either side? All that happens is that discussions turn to arguments, which turn to flame wars, which turn to long-lasting grudges. The same goes for politics. Have you ever heard of a person who has changed their political affiliations solely because of a message board? I doubt it. Again, all it is is people who take sides and don't budge, and once again the argument will never be resolved and will only lead to a flame war if the thread keeps getting picked up. So, in the interests of my status on the forum, I am respectfully withdrawing from this particular board. Good luck with all your future debates and I hope you don't murder each other. The first time I posted here I expressed this viewpoint, and was immediately slammed by AgentSeethroo for being unproductive. I therefore resolved to never post on this board again. It lasted for eight months. As you can see, I've splurged all over this board over the last couple of days. Let's see if I can last longer this time. Farewell. I'll see you in Forum Games. |

The R&P message board is not to try to convert people, but to have a nice, friendly debate. Wether that happens sometimes or not is not always the case. It's here to talk, and to inform those that do not know. It's made to make people think about what's around them, and sometimes to see what others people viewpoints are. |

I barely ever even read/post in there, because I'm not really interested in that stuff. Only sometimes I read/post in there if there is a good thread. |

Debate is futile. It's two sides showing each other what their own side is, both sides declaring that they will not budge, and everyone getting peeved in the end. Well not always, but I gave up debating long ago. The description of the forum is along the liens of things you don't discuss in polite company. At these ages of us members, it's hard if not impossible to affect one's thoughts. We do, however, provide a little more information than one would have already had. If you don't want to read/post, you don't have to. If you change your mind, it's ok to come back on occasion. I think you shouldn't worry about pledges and promises but instead do whatever you please with a general direction. Like always posting occasionally, rather than a bunch then 8 month moratorium just because you forced yourself to. Just lax off, it's all good man |

Jerome wrote: The first time I posted here I expressed this viewpoint, and was immediately slammed by AgentSeethroo for being unproductive. I therefore resolved to never post on this board again. I wasn't gonna reply to this thread, but when I saw the statement above, I felt like I had to clarify something. The post you're referring to is in the "Can a (Christian) God Be?" thread. Didymus just said something relevant and intelligent and you just jumped in with this: Jerome wrote: How the [omitted] are we supposed to know? (pardon my language) This topic will go nowhere fast. For all intense purposes, that post could've been considered spam. Most importantly, you broke the profanity rule. Therefore, I replied with this: AgentSeethroo wrote: A post like that has NO place in this forum. If you can't post something constructive, please don't post at all.
Now finally, I get to the frickin' point. If I discouraged you from posting in the R&P section, I sincerely apologize. It was never my intention for you to do that. However, I still stand by my statement that that particular post was unnecessary. I think the thing that most people don't understand is that this is a DISCUSSION area, not a DEBATE area. This isn't the case. It's a place where people should come and intelligently discuss their particular beliefs and whatnot. It's NOT a place to press your beliefs on other people, or to be condescending toward people because they believe one thing or another. If you really don't want to post here anymore, that's cool. If you do want to continue participating, that's even better. Once again, I hope there are no hard feelings. |

I disagree with you Everettimmy. My point of view has changed from reading what you guys have to say, and I've changed (or atleast influenced) others points of view. And Jerome, I thought you were a really good debater. You need to bring in some more facts, but the conviction you show is astounding. I'm rarely 100% firm in my beliefs, but I can tell you are I hope that someday you decide to start posting on this forum again.

The only problem I have with the R&P forum is that I'm always wrong in it. |
