I'm a Liberal. Kinda far off, but still in there. But not a Marxist. But truely, one cannot be a Marxist. Because Marx said that in a true communist state there would be no-one in power, but in fact there were people that did have more power than others. (Stalin, Lenin, Mao, Castro, ect.) |

Marx proposed that the only way a socialist state can come about is through violent revolution. As a person who is generally opposed to violence (except in extreme cases), I cannot be a Marxist. |

The funny thing about Socialism is that, on paper it's the perfect gov't... it just turns to crap in practice... I'm Libertarian... |

Anti-war beliefs are common in Socialism; using the common political spectrum, anti-war beliefs place one on the left . . . the far left representing Socialism. |

Almost the same with me. I think that Communism (not too far off from Socialism) is a good idea, but as said before, it just falls to pieces. My guess why is that it's based on the idea that we have a perfect world free of revolutions and coups, while actually every communist state has been overtaken and turned into the exact opposite of Communism--a Dictatorship. |

I'm a Socialist but I vote Democrat. Not Socialist-Communist-Marxist, though. So you could say I'm an a la carte Socialist. But I am a Liberal.

I am a Moderate Democrat. I like some thing that are in a Marxist society, I don't agree with the majority of the ideals. |

I'm quite a big Capitalist. I beleive in survival of the fitest, and that the harder you work the more you should be rewarded. But theres debates if capitalism is economic, political, cultural.. etc.. |

The problem I have with socialism is that it makes too many assumptions about the ability of a beaurocratic government to handle all the needs of the people. Beaurocracies slow things down and prevent things from getting done: it's their nature. The problem I have with capitalism is that it promotes greed. I feel that society has an obligation to care for the needy, not to hammer them into the ground. In order to work, capitalism MUST be tempered by compassion, and unfortunately I see far too little of that. |

Far left-socialist here. Realise I'm a new member, but thought I may as well sign up and chime since we seem to be a little under represented . Use the wiki a lot anyways.
As for Marx? Definitely some interesting reading, especially from a historiographical point of veiw. I don't veiw marx as political doctrine. Aside from anything else that kind of inflexibility is against the spirit of marxism. Ummm, happy to discuss whatever anyones interested in anyways. |
