| Post subject: | Deep Throat |
Two Days ago a man by the name of Mark Felt, revealed to the world that he was the much secreted informant know as "Deep Throat." Mr. Felt did not reveal this until 31 years after president Nixon resigned. He was afraid that he would be ridiculed as a traitor and a villan. My question is: Is Deep Throat a hero or a villian? |

I think he did the right thing. Nixon was a paranoid nutcase, and anything that could have been done to expose his corruption and get him out of office could only help America. I don't see how people think he's a traitor. And I'm only using him as my avatar because it's a cool picture. |

I think The Daily Show's coverage was spot-on. |

At the time of Watergate, Nixon was a political criminal, decieving the country. Exposing Nixon was the right thing to do, and I don't see why anyone considers Felt a villian. |

I did a search on the identity of deepthroat when this story first dropped. A number of people had sites stating, with absolute certainty, the identity of DeepThroat. What I thought was really funny is that none of them were right, and they were so sure that it made George W Bush seem unsure when he said Iraq had WMD's. I mean, the only way they could have seemed any more sure would have been to promise to kill themselves in a slow, painful way if they were wrong. This is only one I found that's still active. After a day of hearing about this story, I couldn't suppress my infantile sense of humor, so I had to change the channel. As for the "hero" or "villian" question; I really don't know. I mean, he did, more or less, uncover stuff that ended a presidency, but then again, if Nixon's folks weren't doing the stuff they were doing, they couldn't have been caught. I guess my answer is, I don't know. It is good that he brought some pretty crappy stuff to light. |

I think he's a hero.. I've been told that he "came out" now so that his family could make money off of book deals, publicity etc-- |

I don't know if he's a hero or not, but I'd bet you that most, if not all presidents in the past 50 or so years were doing similar things all the time. Nixon was the one that got caught, but I know that there were people who had lots of dirt on JFK, for instance, but just didn't leak it. I'm not saying Nixon's actions were justified, I'm just saying he wasn't really as corrupt in relation to other presidents as some people make him out to be. Call me cynical, but I think this Deep Throat guy had more than just the interest of the American people in mind when he ratted on Nixon. |

![]() That'd make Jimmy Carter Homsar, I think. It's actually funnier to hear him talk than it is to listen to the impersonators. He's kinda like Bush in that respect. My only question is, Is there any way they could have come up with a better name for this guy than "Deep Throat"? I mean, naming an operative after a porn film?!?!? What's up with that? |
