Could it be possible? A zygote would have its genetic material removed, then injected with half the chromosomes of one man & half of another. Since the resulting baby would have genetic material from 2 men (such as an X from each or an X from one & Y from the other, it wouldn't biologically have a "mother". Wouldn't that be strange?

I think the act of trying to take out a zygote's origional genetic information would kill it.

Uh....ya still gots to have an egg to make the zygote...even though theoretically, it bioloigically wouldn't have a "mother", I think the woman who donated her egg to the process would be considered the mother, no? Am I forgetting something here?

She wouldn't be considered the mother since the DNA would have come from 2 men.

Yes, technically, she wouldn't, I suppose, but I still say whoever donates the egg is the mother.

Where did this idea come from anyway, Ian?

Oh, that's a conundrum.
Biologically, it wouldn't have a mother.
It is entirely possible.
It was discovered that we may not even need males for reproduction, as 2 female's genetic material can form a zygote.
About that though, everyone in the world would be a female (wouldn't you love to be the last surviving male??)
I don't know much about it, but it hasn't actually been 'tested' yet.

I don't really think it could survive like that anyway...

Just wondering but is this kind of test a sin in Christianity?

Yes, it is, accordin to the Catholic church, artificailly making life is like making yourself a God, and we all know that isn't well liked.

Okay then, now we know that this would never happen in The United States.

Sweet Heavenly Cannonballs.

I saw that coming. You're getting predictable in your old age, Bones.

Of course it could happen in the US! That's what America is all about. After all, this country was founded by our four fathers.
