Aye, I'd agree with what Jitka said on the same page as the above post. Here's the thing: the steak you eat is NOT your dog. It's from a cow that was born for the purpose of being eaten. No guilt even neccessary.

See, that's the thing about moral vegaarians/vegans: They feel guilty about eating meat. No t necessarily because they should, but because orginaztions like PETA have pumped this crap into their heads that MAKES THEM feel guilty.

So? That's why they were breeded and born.I could care less about them living a hapy, free life with a family and kids and crap. And getting married. :|

Also, it's stupid how PETA says that by EATING meat, you are directly the cause of al those animals dying. We're not killing the animal: we don't eat them alive, we eat them dead. We don't kill them, just eat them.

And that stuff that the PETA founder wants to do is taken WAY too far: We aren't frying and eating FELLOW PEOPLE. We eat the animals that are bred and born to be eaten. Some say we're animals; however, we aren't all the same kind of animal. We are one group in the kingdom.

And that makes no sense! A human has the right to life, too! It really ticks me off when peopple say things like this.

Methinks DGS's friend was joking. Even vegetarians are allowed a sense of humour. ;)

But you can't judge all vegetarians and animal-rights supporters based on a small number of freaks. That's like me, as a non-American, judging all Americans based on the NRA and KKK.

There's a difference between those who truly represent the animal-rights cause, and those who simply attract more media attention because they go to extremes.

seriously. Being or not being a vegetarian has no impact on who you are as a person. It's just another political/ethical belief

The NRA quote was outta line.. Sure, I know you've heard how evil they are. The NRA isn't anything close to a hate group, or even a bunch of nuts. Judging the NRA based on the "gun nuts" is like judging all vegans based on the action of the more violent animal rights people...

Umm.... yeaaaaaah....

I did kinda ruin my own argument with that, didn't I? Oops - right, I'll take that back now. Bottomline: media-enforced generalisations equals very no.

I'm against animal cruelty, but for eating meat. I mean, seriously, I don't care who you are, eating meat is a part of your programming. Why is it? Well, only because it would be advantageous to our species as a whole. If it wans't true, why do vegetarians eat meat substitutes? You're doing the world a favor by eating Jello, too, because if all that collagen wan't eaten, it would just be a waste.
But, whatever, my debating skills aren't at their top form at a time like this. I'm kinda tired... I shall clear up this post later...

Anyone see the Hardee's/Carl's Jr ads for their chicken sandwiches? The announcer says something like "Chicken, juggle", and the chicken just sits there. The he tells the chicken to do something else.. it just sits there. Finally the announce says something like "Chicken is good for only one thing. Eating"..
I'm just waiting to hear the PETA lawsuits on that one..

My cousin would disagree. He thinks that chickens are very useful. Why he even invented his own sport, called "Kick The Chicken." Have you ever played it?

Heh heh. I remember that.

But I love meat. I'm sorry, but I don't think you guys can give me a good enough reason to chuck all my steak away and start eating celery. Animals eat other animals, why should humans be any different?

Animals eat other animals, but we humans are different! We're better than animals, so we should express that through consciously choosing not to eat...

Wait. I thought PETA's argument is that humans AREN'T any better than animals. Hmm...therefore, their argument doesn't make sense.

Good point, Acekirby. I salute you.

Yeah, I guess that is true. They think that animals are better than humans, but they also say that we shouldn't eat them because we are more advanced. :-S

Man, PeTA is a parodox. "We are no better than animals, so lets not kill them like they kill each other!!" WTF?

Thank you. I knew it would make people think, and I've always wondered that. And you put my confusion perfectly into words.

Eating meat is only cruel if it's still alive when you are eating it.

So, if your steak ever goes, "MOOO!" you're in trouble.

I was wondering, does anyone know if caviear(excuse my unrich-ness of bad spelling) are fertilized fish eggs? If so isn't that a lot like abortion? But what do I know? I don't prepare seafood.

I don't think they are fertilized, but if they are, that is the most disgusting thing ever.

That's the way my girlfriend's stepdad eats steak. "Cut it's horns off, wipe it's butt, and put it on a plate."

I'm a "medium or medium well" person, myself...

i am mostly a fishie-tarian. or otherwise known as pescatarian.

i prefer to not eat red meat... i think i'm actually allergic to it... makes me feel gross, and not pleasant to my tummy... :poop:

i will eat organically grown chicken and turkey (occassionally...), but if i cook it i think it smells really icky... like feet. plus it's slimy to handle and eeew! although, i really do enjoy roast turkey (only around thanksgiving though.)

the reason i changed my diet is mostly for my health. i feel better when i haven't eaten any (land) animals. i get protein from hummus, beans and fish. and i still drink (and eat happily) dairy products... i can't give up cheese or ice cream...

i do need to go to the grocery store, and i'm tempted to try the morningstar meat substitute stuff... any suggestions ekerose? (sorry for the misspelling...) i love gardenburgers though... they're big out here in the northwest... just about everywhere you go offers it on the menu. its tre fab.

cheers!

It's absolutely delicious! I recommend the sausage patties. The Philly Cheese Steak is also good. Morningstar Farms stuff, from what I've heard, tastes more meaty than Gardenburger. (Well, the regular Gardenburgers, anyway--the Riblets are excellent.)

Gardenburgers are OK if you put a lot of mayonnaise on them. :)
