ya know...... doesnt a tiger eat a zebra? shouldnt a human be able to eat a zebra too?, err... i mean cow, cow. cmon, its survival of the fitest,w e eat the weaker thing or something that tastes good wich is usually meat. i mean, i can tgo to a mcdonalds and say "hey gimme a vegie burger", they dont do that. we were born to eat meat, we have been eating meat since teh stoneage. you guys gotta think back to our roots: something thousands of years ago BC when we were caveman, we ate the Neanderthal, pigs, cows, and anything else made of meat. being vegitarian is just.............. unnatural. but thats my thought

It's absolutely delicious! I recommend the sausage patties. The Philly Cheese Steak is also good. Morningstar Farms stuff, from what I've heard, tastes more meaty than Gardenburger. (Well, the regular Gardenburgers, anyway--the Riblets are excellent.)

Gardenburgers are OK if you put a lot of mayonnaise on them. :)

I did a blind taste on Gardenburger, and couldn't keep the stuff down.. It tasted like crap.. Morningstar Farms, on the other hand isn't too bad.
It tasted a little different when I took a blind test, but if I didn't eat meat for a while, I probably wouldn't be able to tell a difference.

Still, the only thing that equals a steak is a steak.

i agree with you there strongrad about the taste of gardenburgers...

when i was eating a lot of meat (like during every meal it seemed...), gardenburgers didn't taste very good. i found them bland. it was only when i cut red meat out of my diet did they begin to taste good to me... (i cut out red meat for a multitude of reasons... one being expense. two being taste/health...) anyway, now i love them. especially the sundried tomato ones... no mayo, with lettuce, mustard, tomato, onion and cheese... mmmm.

i really like soy products though... soy milk is actually pretty good. i enjoy it on cereal... and warm edomame with a little bit of salt is so tasty...

although, i think i will try the morningstar stuff soon... didn't get anything today. oh well.

I can't drink soy milk... It doesn't taste right. No clue why. I wish it tasted like milk. I suffer from lactose intolerance, yet I love milk, so I drink it and deal with the consequences (which aren't TERRIBLE, for me)..

I don't mind soy milk on cereal, but I can't drink it in my coffee.

Considering there's no such thing as soy milk. It's soy JUICE. I could give the logic of that (it's from Lewis Black), but I don't think it's appropriate for this forum. XD

Now I'll tell you something that's good: Coconut milk! I bought some recently for a recipe, and I love the stuff! I't not really that sweet, but that coconut flavor is just soooo delish! Of course, it's like 110% fat, so use it sparingly.

I use soy milk/juice/whatever on my cereal. I don't drink it straight, unless it's the flavored kind. (Coffee soy milk is really good!)

I hate regular milk. Well, at least the mostly-fat-free stuff. It's so bland--blander than water, even. Bleh.

I know what you mean, Mandy. I have to have at least 2% for it to really taste like milk to me.

At one time I tried mixing soy milk with 2%. It wasn't bad, and I could actually drink it.

I grew up drinking regular milk. Not the two percent stuff, the regular vitamin D kind (some would call it whole milk, but that doesn't seem right, cus true whole milk has cream and "butter milk" included, and it's kinda nasty). I always thought 1% and skim tasted like water.. My dad laughs because I drink 2%, but the difference isn't too bad. There is less fat in it, and that's good, but it isn't so non-fat that it tastes like water.
Soy just tastes funny to me. It's really a personal preference, though.

I always drink whole milk, as I live in a skinny family, but 2% is fine with me when I get it at school occasionally.

I kinda like half-and-half, but not on a regular basis.

Here's my thoughts on the subject: humans are biologically omnivores, so why not eat meat? Sure, if you don't want to you don't have to, but I want to. Almost all my favourite meals (as in dinner) involve meat in some way. And I don't see what's wrong with having dairy.

I'm getting hungry. Can't wait till dinner's ready. We're having lamb chops.

Here's my thought:

The animal is already dead! Do you think you're honoring it by letting the meat that the butchers slavaged go to waste!?

Personally, I'd prefer it if the animal wasn't killed, period.

But that's why they exist. I can't think of any reason for a pig to exist, other than as food for humans.

Well, as I recall, according to the Bible, animals were around before humans.

And besides, God loves all creatures, not just humans. I doubt that God would make animals just as food.

Animals were around before humans in the bible, but God didn't make a cow couple to populate the world. I don't think every animal should be slaughtered, but I'm sure as heck they're here on earth for other reasons as well. Certain animals weren't made JUST as "companions", no, they'd be a food supply too. That's why there's a lot of them, to be food, as well as vegetables and everything else that grows.

But God did make Noah take 7 of certain kinds of animals on the ark. Why? Because after the flood, those kinds of animals were to serve as food supply.

Since the holiday season is nearly upon us (for muslems it already it) has anyone ever tasted tofurkey (tofu molded and glazed to look like a turkey)? I've heard both good and bad things about it, both were from my crazy vegan cousins so I need more of an unbiased stranger's point of view.

My mom despises Tofurkey roasts (I've never had one), but we like the deli slice thingies.

We always have millet loaf or a tempeh dish for the holidays. Mmm.

I like Turkey to eat. And chicken. And steak.

I agree with those who said "Some animals are around for food". I can't see a practical use for a chicken for anything other than meat and eggs.

ok, yes animals were here long before humans... but i believe in evolution. however, the story of noah went that he took 2 of every animal (that was known at that time...) but the storyline has inherant contradictory elements in it that i won't get into...

however, there are animals that we did indeed breed along lines to reach where they currently are now... i can't honestly believe that in X years of human exsistence, an animal like a domesticated cow would exsist anywhere in the wild. that is without human interferance, i really doubt it would have gotten to where it is now. if it happened to "become wild", it wouldn't last very long i would suppose. anyway, i personally prefer not to eat it (for health reasons, think hormones, mad cow, etc... ew!) now a wild buffalo, yes. they've been around for awhile, and seem to do ok in the wild... they are still around.

tell me, how did we get as many dog breeds that are available? through selective breeding... i think that's how the current model of cow/bovine continue to exsist today. same for chickens i think.

just my 2 cents...

Yes, he did take two of every animal, but he also took seven of some animals. If you have seven of an animal, do you not also have two of that animal?

You're right, by not eating meat we're not helping anything, it's already dead! We're just throwing away food, and making poor people have to struggle even harder to get food.

Yeah, there's no need to worry about the survival of the cow or the sheep. Though one thing that's worrying about mass cattle farming is the danger it has to wild animals. Right now, the survival of Amazon species are being threatened because their habitats are being cleared for industry cattle farming.

And then there's the danger to your own health from eating meat pumped full of hormones and antibiotics.

So if you're going to eat meat, eat locally-grown and organic. That means no McDonalds.

Also, Genesis 9:4

"Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything."

God didn't make animals as food at FIRST. But He did allow us to eat them after the Flood.

I think this may have been mentioned in another thread, but have you seen the new Hardee's commercial with the chicken? And they throw pins at him and say, "Chicken, juggle." Then they throw a ball and say, "Catch, chicken." And they drop a stack of papers and say, "Chicken, collate." At the end they say, "Chicken is only good for one thing: eating."
