How do you draw closer to God? I took this quiz that Family Christian Stores linked to & found out I'm an Enthusiast.

This is TOTALLY me! Psalm 98:4 says it all:
Quote:
Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.
On FCS's website, you can find out what CD & book fits your worship style best.

I wonder if there's any connection with the Meyers-Briggs? Just for point, I'm an ENTP (I think).

As an ex-Christian agnostic, I was interested to see what it might come out for me. I'm ...

Image

...which is exactly right - that's what I have to do for a living, while trying to defend minority languages and cultures. Here are the questions for which I voted a 5 ....

The words tradition and history are very appealing to me. (First and foremost)

I connect with God best when I’m cooperating with him in standing up for his justice: writing letters to government officials and newspaper editors, picketing at an abortion clinic, urging people to vote, or becoming familiar with current issues. (I've done everthing there, except picketing outside an abortion clinic, which I'd never do)

I would like to awaken the church from its apathy. (I became disillusioned with the hierarchies of the Catholic Church because of their detachment from the real world)

I spend more money on books than music tapes.

I would enjoy attending a workshop on learning to worship through dance or attending several worship sessions with contemporary music. I expect that God is going to move in some unexpected way. (I don't care about the contemporary dance as much, but I believe that if there's a greater force out there, that it does indeed "move in some unexpected way")

I connect with God best when I learn something new about him that I didn’t understand before. My mind needs to be stimulated. It’s very important to me that I know exactly what I believe. (Knowledge is food for the soul, imo)

I would really enjoy using drawing, exercise or art to improve my prayer life. (The worst times of my life was when I didn't have time for creativity)

I sense God’s power when I am counseling a friend who has lost a job, preparing meals for or fixing the car of a family in need, or spending a week at an orphanage in Mexico.
(Helping others - v v important)

Activities like confronting a social evil, attending a meeting to challenge the new curriculum before the local school board, and volunteering on a political campaign are important to me. (Yes, and defending our heritage against apathy)

I would rather nurse someone to health or help someone repair their house than teach an adult Sunday school class, go on a prayer and fasting retreat, or take a lonely walk in the woods.

The most difficult times in my faith are when I can’t feel God’s presence within me. (Very difficult times)

Mine didn't give me one of those categories. I'm not sure why. Personally, I'd classify myself as Liturgical/Caregiver.

You mean the picture box? No, it didn't come out for me either - I just followed the link to Ian's picture and changed the URL to "Activist", since that's the one in which I got the highest mark.

I wasn't really surprised by my results. Oh, and Didymus I think that they probably used the same idea as the Meyers-Briggs personality test. I took that test when I was 13 and I am an ENFJ, by the by...wonder if I still am...

Makes sense. I often read to little kids or help people pick stuff up if they drop it.

I'm kinda that same way; I always hold doors for people.

And I'm a hugger.

Actually, I think that, in my case, because I see so many important aspects in worship and ministry, they all sort of balance out. For example, I am both a Sensate and an Intellectual. I want both the sights and sounds, but also the Scriptural and theological content to my worship (To me, Liturgical seems to do this best). On the other hand, as a chaplain, I am immensely concerned about pastoral caregiving, particularly to the needy and marginalized. And keep in mind, as a pastor, at least half of what I want to see in worship has to do with the needs of my people rather than my own. So throw that into the mix as well.

I'd like to do some investigating, but I'd be willing to be that being an ENTP has some influence over my worship tendencies.

Keep in mind, people, different people gravitate to different styles at least partly because of their background and their personalities. There's no one right worship style. Although I think a balanced liturgical form would best incorporate all these different elements (and by "balanced" I mean not overly strict).

I'm INFP, by the way. Sounds about right when combined with my results. Although I doubt that's what they were working from; it never struck me while I took the test.

(And pardon the bump. It was on the first page, and I like tests.)
