Hmmm.. I don't even know where to begin on this one.. Sounds like someone's bitter about something..
First off, before you read the rest of this post, realize this: I do not care about the diversity of my workplace, school, neighborhood, etc. If it's diverse, it's diverse. If it's not, it's not. Doesn't really matter to me. I think that, as a whole, we benefit from diversity, but I don't directly factor it into the decisions about school, work, home, etc. I live where I live, go to school where I go to school, work where I work, etc.
Second, I have no problem with equality. I support equality in all forms, but I don't think equality should be encouraged or mandated by law, simply because there is no non-discriminatory way to do so (that I know of).
The last line got me..
"The all-female board also says it wants to introduce gender quotas on company boards."
I have 2 things to say about this... 1) Quotas almost always lead to animosity disrespect for anyone of the "protected" classes... The minority on the board is seen as the "affirmative action seat" or something similar.."We all know why she's here" type stuff pops up, even when it's wrong.. I feel the same about affirmative action in America.. It creates more anger, racism, sexism, etc. than it fixes..
2) If their board was forced to allow males, they would probably be the first to scream about how the government needs to stay out of their lives..
Of course, I could be wrong, they may REALLY want equality, although, it seems like any more, those most vocal about "equality" and "diversity" rarely want true equality and diversity.. They usually want to be treated better than their "oppressors"...
Of course, this is just my view on it. I'm sure there are those who won't agree, and that's cool...
As far as the Government banning marriage, that's bad... But I realize they are just saying that it shouldn't be sanctioned by the state.. I got no problem with that. Marriage, to me, is the union of two people in front of God, and maybe some peoples. If the state doesn't recognize someone loves someone else enough to devote their lives to them, does it mean that they truely don't love each other? Nah..
