I didn't see this posted anywhere else, and the Search feature doesn't help, so my thought for the day, is, if you had the chance to live forever on Earth in your physical body, would you?

Two questions:

Can I die if I want to eventually, and can I leave Earth when humanity begins to colonize the galaxy?

If you answered yes to both of those, then I wouldn't mind living for(almost)ever.

If I can't die no matter what, then no.

I would do it if I could somehow control my age, but not if I kept getting older and had to suffer through all the afflictions of old age. Also I would not want to live forever if I would have to live through something like getting all of my limbs and internal organs ripped out and stuff like that.

I will live forever. And in a physical body, too. Something about Jesus coming back, and raising the dead.

Yeah, that's pretty much how I feel.

I think it might depend on the circumstances around me, but I'm leaning toward "no". I'm not all that optimstic about the state of the world within the next 50-100 years, and I'm not sure I want to be around when the results of all our ongoing problems really get uncontrollable (Peak Oil and overpopulation, especially). Also, if I had the power of eternal life while everyone else around me I cared about died at a normal rate, that cycle constantly repeating itself would be incredibly difficult to go through. The idea of living forever in your physical body is nice on the surface, yes, but be careful what you wish for. Imagine how much more chaotic the world would be if everybody had that opportunity...

Yeah, I'd have to say that would be cool too, if you could control your age (eternal youth).

Although watching my friends and family die one by one wouldn't be great, and I have no idea what the future holds. No immortality for me.

Yup, that's pretty much what I was thinking.

I wouldn't want to love physically forever (at least, not on Earth). Think about it: I'd go blind & deaf & have all this other crap wrong with me, yet I'd still be alive. Think of the medical bills!

Ifr I could die when I choose and control my aging, then yes. I didn't vote, though, bvecause that wasn't specified in the poll.

If we were immortal we simply wouldn't appreciate the beauty of life. What would be the point of trying to better ourselves if we had all of eternity to do it? I procrastinate enough as it is, I'd cringe to think if I had several millenia to do my duties...

"I'll...finish college in a thousand years. Maybe."

Another thing...this question proposed...would it be just ME that would live forever in a physical body? If it was just me, exclusively me, I'd go insane. Everyone that I liked or loved or cared about would die and leave me behind. And what fun would that be? I'd want to be on "the other side" with everybody else, thanks.

There's no real reason to fear death, it's natural and it happens to everyone. After a long life lived productively and meaningfully, it can be comforting.

If I could stay 21 forever, I would in a heartbeat. The thought of aging scares me. Dying...meh...but aging?

I voted no because I assumed this meant you couldn't choose to die if you were to live forever. If you could choose to die whenever you wanted, then I'd vote yes.

No, because I'd get tired of living, and everyone I cared about would keep dying.

This problem was solved by Douglas Adams in The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. The character 'Wowbagger the Infanitely Prolonged had an accident - if you accidently find yourself living forever, you could do worse than by occuping your time insulting everyone in the Universe, in alphabetical order!

I would only live until I started to get bored. Maybe if I could control how long I lived. I mean, I think life would start to get a little old(no pun intended). I voted No.

I'd wait until 35, then become immortal, because with then I could run for president, do something about that archaic 2-term limit, and rule the land with an iron fist!!!!!!!!!!!

"Eternal Physical Life" is the catchline for Chiu's product.

He has a bit of an internet following, and has appear in several webcomics and flash animations.

Yes, what are you talking about Alberto? Why not elaborate on what you're talking about?
