Well, a group of real big joiks came and smashed all our pumpkins last night. We had three big pumpkins that we grew in our garden all year, we carved them, and then set them out, and we usually like to enjoy them for a few days. But then these people come and smach them.
Not just on the porch, no, they through them in the middle of the road. Now jack-o-lantern carcasses are spread all over the road and I have to go pick them up. All for what? For a group of idiots, so they can have a cheap thrill.

A few of my friends asked me to go toilet paper some peoples house. They said it was all in good fun, but I said no.

What on earth motivates vandals? They have fun for a few seconds, and it hurts the people they do it to. Do they like hurting people? Is it just peer pressure added to stupidity?

I heard a saying once that I think sums vandalism up quite nicely.

"Small things amuse small minds."

These people go around defiling others's property and get a few laughs out of it, and that's it.

I commend you for your courage in standing up to your "friends" like that. Keep in mind, you don't really need those kinds of jerks for friends.

All I can say is that it really aghasts me how many people openly admit they enjoy and encourage people having fun by ruining fun for others, who are doing nothing wrong.

Like the whole Harry Potter spoiler thing ... yeah, I know I've moaned about it before, but given the whole ... obsession people had with hunting down HBP readers and screeching the major plot points, online and offline, then patting eachother on the back for a job well done ... what the heck, man?

As for TP-ing houses and whatnot, I don't call it vandalism.. Of course that's because I've been guilty of it. We used to go out and TP houses, soap windows, etc, but nothing we really did was destructive. Our neighbors didn't really get irked by it, as they did it when they were growing up, and their kids did it to our house. Besides, we never did it to someone that wouldn't see a bit of humor in it, and they knew that when we got home from school on November 1st, we would be cleaning up their yards. It was harmless fun, and the adults saw it as such. The wanton destruction some kids do "because it's halloween" is a different story.

But how many kids really do go out on November 1st to clean up the messes they made the night before. You were certainly the exception (not the norm)

well, i am a hipocrit, i hurt people who do it to my house or anyone in my nehborhood. but when it comes to me actually doing it to people or teachers we dont like..... then its cool by me, but i gota take a part in it!

For some odd reason a group of kids came by over halloween and dumped all of the candy we had left for the good kids out onto the ground. It wasn't as bad as some of the other things I've heard in this thread though.
