It is not racism, it's profiling(I think that is the right term). A&F is saying that if you don't look like this, or wear our stuff, you aren't cool, and that's wrong.

yeah thats wrong, but they said that it was racism, mainly because you dont see very many hispanics or African americans with blond hair.

You know, I'm happy to be alive in a world where t-shirts that may or may not be racist are the major problem facing humanity.

It's good that that whole mess in Iraq is cleared up, that people aren't discriminated against for the color of their skin, or their sexual orientation, everyone gets along, republicans and democrats always work together and we all use a completely non-polluting/totally renewable energy source.. Oh, wait, we don't live in that world.

This sounds like a bunch of rich kids that have nothing better to do. Of course, that's just my take on it. I want to read the article(s) about it before I pass any kind of judgement.

Well, there's alot of things wrong with this world, I don't think T-shirts that are meant to be humorous (whether or not they actually are) is something that really needs to be adressed.

But there's alot of things that get covered in the news that really don't need to be.

god, these girls need to protest about something more offensive along the lines of clothes, like the teen shirts in the malls that say(this is a quote so please dont erase it ij) "little slut" and other more offensive things that would be to vulgur to qoute on this forum.

Sweet mercy, if there is any word in the English language more misused than the words "racism" and "racist" I'd like to know what it is.

Have you ever been told that it's racist to not like Chinese food? I have.

I personally have never liked Abercrombie and Fitch, for a number of reasons. These include the ridiculously small sizes they sell, the half naked people on their advertisements, and just a general scathing feeling I get whenever I'm around the place, even if that isn't exactly justifiable. I just don't like the fact that people are willing to pay gosh knows how many dollars for a pair of pants that are basically ruined. The whole place just freaks me out...

Racist however? I don't think so...

umm.... what does that have to do with girls wearing shirts that say stuff like "Little Slut" or "Sperm Dumpster", or any of the like?

He was saying that might be a more missused word (if you had read the post he quoted) But i think racism is way more misused. It's pathetic.

A&F clothing loses. Period.

Low thread count. Bad fabric. Low stitch count. Bad seams. Inconsistent sizing. Patterns don't line up where they should. Raw edges abound. No details. Crappy back yoke. No split backs. Bad buttons. Thin collars and cuffs that warp easily. Armholes too high.

God forbid I should actually want to move around while wearing their clothes.

Isn't it also interesting how those who have cushy jobs come home, take off their (most likey outstanding) suit, put on scruffed up/abraded/torn/paint splattered pants like that of a drywaller and go out on the town?

Funny you should mention that. I've seen the same things with some of the concerts I've worked.. The band comes in dressed up in some nice clothes, then, come showtime, they hit the stage and look like they work at a gas station!

Anyways, you hit the nail on the head about A&F clothing. They quality is intentionally low, though, as most of their stuff is "trendy" and goes out of style pretty quickly. Couple that with the price and, well, my Levi's (although Lee Dungarees is winning me over), and JC Penny/Dillards/internet/concert/walmart bought shirts will suit me just fine. I woulda listed Hot Topic, but I don't buy much from there anymore. They're slowly turning into one of those stores that the American Eagle/A&F kids are wandering into, so they're changing their merchandise accordingly (yuck!).

yeah, hot topic was cool when you didnt see like 8 or 9 year olds in there shopping for school clothes with their mother, but now.... now there are no goths working it anymore, man, dont you hate it when something that you used to think was cool, but then everyone else finds out about it and is sporting it calling you a poser when you had all the stuff first. that happend with me and pokemon cards, i bought a pack, gave some to friends, they bought packs, gave to friends, cousins, then all accross america, kids were playing with pokemon cards.

If you aren't a "poser", why would you care what others think?

I've never heard of these lines of clothing before but if I understand correctly, they make bad jokes and can be taken as an "All women should be skinny blondes" type of message?

Okay, I agree that there are bigger problems in the world than what some words on some idiot's shirt says, but I find that image of women extremely disgusting. I don't feel are few shirts are serious enough to protest and boycott the companies or anything, but I would like to get the message out there that women starving themselves and colouring their hair doesn't make them beautiful.

well there would be a problem of me wearing a shirt that says "The Next Columbine Simulator" in school or in social settings. or why dont you go out and buy a shirt that Says "WHITE POWER!" and a Swastika on it and go outside to a Jewish community, then see why you should worry about what other people think!

DISCLAIMER: i Do infact own a shirt that says "The Next Columbine Simulator", but i only got it as a joke Present from one of my friends. he said if her were to let me fire his gun in the range, you might fulfil your lifelong dream in a school or something. BTW, im not the next columbine simulator, "Jack Thompsons Revenge" is, if you want more info on that game, PM me.

Thank you. Many people don't realize that one off the first things you are judged by is what you wear.

It's not that we don't realize it, it's just that we don't care. Most of the people on this planet, you will find, have opinions that don't mean jack in the big picture.

There is a big difference between wearing what you want and wearing offencive material. If offensive material is what you like to wear, then odds are, you are wearing it because you want others to see what you are wearing and to get a reaction out of them. Maybe I should restate what I meant. As long as what you are wearing is appropriate, just wear what you like! I hope that is better.

Same here. I was into Sailor Moon before I even saw that ad in a magazine for Pokémon that one fateful day... I didn't know what animé was, and I thought Sailor Moon's artist was on crack. They probably are, though.

I see just as many girls at my school with shirts claiming brunettes are smarter and better than blondes... I'm Polish/Scandinavian/all that northern Europe stuff, so there's just about no way I could have been born with brown hair. Racism?

I think it's just a way of "counteracting stereotypes" by airheads. I have a shirt that says "Smart Blonde", but it's not like, "Blondes are smarter than brunettes" or anything.

I guess it's just that you don't have to bash others to break a stereotype. :-D
