It's election season 2008, and all of the primaries are over. The tickets are as follows. Who do you vote for?

I don't know anything about any of them (except Hilary Clinton), but I will be able to vote this time. I will be 18 and 3 months.

I'll be voting next time (18 and 11 months). I voted John McCain on this poll.

All of the primaries are over?!?!? As far as I know, there haven't even been presidential candidates on ballots yet.

The Iowa caucus (the "kick-off" if you will) doesn't even happen for a little over 2 more years..
Unless I'm wrong. This poll is a little early.

That's what I was just thinking, but I never seem to know what's going on...

Yeah, the primaries don't start until early 2008. This is just a hypothetical matchup.

Well, I'll be 20 in 2008, but these are very limited scenarios. I personally don't think Warner really has much of a shot. Not enough name recognition.

Also, I severely doubt that Hillary would settle for VP, if she were to run. She's waited long enough.

For the purposes of this poll, however, I'd obviously go with the Demoratic ticket, though I like McCain (Any politician who's actually hosted Saturday Night Live is OK in my book. ). The main reason I picked the Democratic ticket here is because I don't trust Bill Frist. He's got that Friendly Neighborhood Antichrist look about him. Besides, he's being investigated for insider trading, the same thing Martha Stewart went to jail for. I doubt, if he gets indicted, that the Republican party would nominate him for anything.

My top candidate, in either party, is Wesley Clark. I really hope he runs again.

I hate Hillary Clinton, and I hate anything to do with Republicianism or Conservatism.

It probably doesn't matter which, really. Hillary seems just as conservative in the long run.

Hillary is a big Liberal, she the only thing conservative about her is her hair.

The whole GTA fiasco leads me to believe otherwise, as well as a number of things. Even though she herself may claim to be liberal and uphold liberal ideas, I'm not sure I'd trust her to actually make truly liberal decisions. She seems far too "seeking of approval", if you know what I mean, and very insecure. She doesn't have the drive to be a truly liberal president in such a conservative nation.

Most of america has been brainwashed into thinking liberal(meaning: Non-facist, and no, it doesn't magically mean something different over there, we know exactly what you're talking about) is a dirty word, so I doubt she'd get elected either way.

Well, that was just the latest incarnation of political overreactions to violent video games. Remember Joe Lieberman with Mortal Kombat?

And I'm sure you'll admit Hillary'd make a better president than, say, Jeb Bush.

God help us if that happens.

That could very well be true, but, for some reason, I doubt it.
I don't remember the "conservatives" ever going after something as trivial as music or video games.
Sure, there was a flop over a "wardrobe malfunction", but that's about all I ever remember in the "censorship" department.

Would that mean Jack Thompson is a democrat then? Or does he not affitiliate with any political party?

Hillary Clinton and Jack Thompson for prez in 2008....*shiver*

I don't know. I'm fed up of the world in general. While I'm glad I don't live in the U.S. I still hate that a potentially decent country is so messed up right now.

Does anyone else remember the progressive 90s? What the hell happened?

Obviously, I voted for the Republican side. I wouldn't trust Hillary Clinton with a thumbtack, much less the entire country.

I would love to see a Condoleeza Rice/Hillary election, though. Or Ahnuld (if he gets the not-born-in-America law repealed) and anyone else.

How could you not vote for Arnold?

If you were sane and actually cared about your country.

Didn't he veto a gay marriage bill recently after saying he wouldn't?

Rice said she had no intention of running for president on some moronic show or another...

Personally, I'd love to see a Libertarian in office, but since the election's been confined to a horrible two-party system where both partys want to get rid of my money, I doubt it'll happen.

Oops, did I rant there?

It's almost amusing how much America is screwed because of it.

The only way the world will improve is if we try something new and different altogether. And that's not going to happen in the U.S. anytime soon.

Yeah, I know. But I think the Presidenterminator would be pretty funny.

If anything.

It sickens me to think that people just vote by party as opposed to actually taking the time to learn something about the candidates. There's no need for a party system in today's day and age. It's just another archaic tradition that no one has the initiative to stop.

I sort of agree. But it would be sort of hard for anyone to change the entire political basis of one of the largest (population-wise) countries on earth.

No, he said that he would veto the bill because the legislature passed it after the people voted agaisnt it. He thought that the decisiion should be decided by the people rather than the legislature.

I hate the idea that an ignorant majority gets to decide the fate of a minority. It doesn't make sense. Educated unbiased people should make these decisions :/

It dates back to the Revolution, I guess, the shift from one extreme to a seemingly preferable other.

That's how democracy works. The majority rules. For better or for worse, that's how it is. They shouldn't use the power to oppress the minority, but sometimes they do.
If we were to require "current events" or "what does your candidate stand for?" intelligence tests for voters, both of the major political parties in the US would lose a lot of votes.

I don't know who I'll vote for yet.
But I certainly hope the number of people who will be whining about this upcoming election will be equivalent to the number of people who actually get off their butts and vote on electon day. Only about half of all eligible voters actually do vote, which is kind of sad if you ask me.

It didn't happen this past election, so I don't see it happening this time around..
Granted, there were more voters than in 2000, but I don't think we'll see an 85-90% turnout, which is sad.
People whine about taxes, pollution, gun control, abortion, and God only knows what else, but they can't seem to be bothered to take 10 minutes out of their day to push a couple of buttons.

Sheesh, not even 10 minutes. When I went I was in and out of there in five minutes, but we didn't have the button system. I believe my ballot was akin to a scan-tron sheet, where you fill in the bubble of your choice with a pencil. Some places have levers, others have holes you punch...I guess it varies throughout the country.

I think a lot of people don't vote because they feel as though their one vote won't make a difference either way. Perhaps one vote doesn't, but if tens of thousands of people adopt the same attitude, the election results vary significantly from the general populations attitudes and desires.

So yes, the moral of the story is, if you're 18 and up, VOTE! Please!
