What is up with people who blame all juvinile crime on violent video games? I mean there are people who say the only reason columbine happened was that those kids played doom. also has anyone else seen the G4tv soecial on violence in videogames?

Spam? No.
APB'D? somewhere, probably.

umm... you completely misused toastpaint

I don't think that violence in video games leads to violence in the real world. There ARE those with impressionable minds that MIGHT be influenced, but, in general, I think that, if a kid is otherwise OK, playing a violent videogame isn't gonna mess them up.

The people who are against violent videogames like to use Columbine as an example, BUT, as has been said here, many times before, correlation does not equal causation.

seriously, in 2000 the US surgon general did a study and found that violent videogames do not affect people so they become violent.

It's easy when you're not debating "right and wrong"..

This thing about video game or TV violence, isn't a "right/wrong" issue. Just "does it happen or not".

In this case, I don't believe it does.

I don;t think Video Games promote violence. I'll admit, some people get irriatated and take things way to seriously, but that isn't due to the video game itself.

Exactly.

That's been my opinion of TV, Music, and Video Game violence ever since people started getting all upset about it.

There are some people who would be influenced to do bad things by what they see, hear, or play, but it would seem that those people would probably do bad things anyway.

We all know the root of all violence is the FCC and The Grateful Dead.
[serious now]
For me, If i get the feeling like I want to strangle someone. I get on my PS2 and I play Manhunt. For me violent videogames relieve stress and make me not want to hurt someone anymore.

Toastpaint means "Let's get back on topic". Use it when things are getting way off topic.

Also, I am pretty sure that almost all the people who say it causes real violence and that people can't differentiate between real violence and video game violence have mot played the games themselves. If you are going to criticize something at least know what you're talking about. Also the parents who complain about videogame content go out and buy the game for their child when the content is listed on the back of the box. then they go and complian about the content. YOU BOUGHT IT FOR YOUR CHILD! THE CONTENT IS LISTED ON THE BACK OF THE BOX!!! People also say that the rating system is weak and it should be like the rating system for movies. Those people are dumb, because the rating system for games is more detailed than the one for movies. Videogames are the baby of the entertainment industry, and some people feel like they have to pick on it.

If you guys watched Attack of the Show last night, you would have seen that they covered this topic.

Some of the statistics in here will debunk all of those people, republican, democrat or whatever, who say videogame violence truly contributes to youth violence

http://www.pbs.org/kcts/videogamerevolution/impact/myths.html

One of the facts stated:
"According to federal crime statistics, the rate of juvenile violent crime in the United States is at a 30-year low"

Read more about it at that link. It's a very interesting report.
