This article seems like it's something that was written by someone who's never been on the internet.

To me, this is nothing more than an extension of the immaturity most people bring to message boards, chat rooms, and anywhere else they can get attention.

Of course, that's just my take on it. Anyone else?

Hey, don't diss Vlad. He's cool. (No, seriously, I've met the guy and he's a smart cookie; one of the best bloggers we have.)

Yes, I agree, but that's no reason not to make more people aware of it.

I meant that in the sense that he seemed shocked that there was racism on the internet. It wasn't a diss. I promise. Don't beat me up, please.

True.

i aggree with you, StrongRad, it does seem like they just found out that there is racism on the internet. but in my point of view, its not racism, its a stereotype. the stereotype for Chineese people in WOW is GoldFarmer. just like the stereotypes of Orcs are big green and mean, when really they are nice and gentally tall green people.

I think when a stereotype is taken this far, it's racism (IMO)

I love Avenue Q! But this is NOT the place to discuss that musical - you can PM me if you want, and we can discuss it till our fingers are sore!!

Toastpaint - I think it's unfortunate that there is a bit of racism in the game in question. But I think a simple boycott would do.

Ok, so a few people who play the game are racist. Why is this a problem? There's always been racism, what does it have to do with the game? People need to stop over-reacting about things like this. You will never be able to control the internet. It's just not possible now.

Moreover, you'll never be able to totally control what everybody in the free world thinks and believes. Lots of people have a lot of growing up to do, IMO. Best anyone can do is try to help them out in that area.

I think the thing may have been blown out of proportion. I'm not questioning the truthfulness of the article, but it makes it sort of sound like EVERYONE thinks that way.

I agree with StrongRad that it's nothing new that rascism exists on the internet, but it still isn't hurting anyone to bring into the light a little more.

In fact, maybe this will help people who actually play the game to think before they call someone a gold farmer (or whatever it was).

you know, soon people are gonna be calling for equal rights on the internet. not that im racists, or anything, its just that the internet should be used to say something that you couldnt normally say in real life.

I disagree. I don't think you should say anything on the internet that you wouldn't say in real life.

I agree with StrongRad. Don't say anything on the internet that you wouldn't say in real life, because you never know who you're talking to.

Really, the internet is the only place that there is really FREEDOM OF SPEECH anymore. Not that I approve of "rascist" online gaming, but taking away someone's right to be racist is just as bad as taking away someone's right to talk.

...why don't I get hundreds of comments whenever I make a blog post about how my shoes smell bad?

I don't think this was meant to be taken as a "I WOULD GIVE MY LIFE TO PREVENT RACISM IN WOW." I think it was more of a pet peeve of this blooger. And because he was famous, it spread to people who blew it out of the water.
