What kind of trials are we talking about here? A trial to find out if an immigrant is illegal or not? In that case, you can't deny them of a fair trial just because they're illegal, but they're gonna lose that case. |

And even if it was that kind of trial, they still deserve the right to it, even if it seems "pointless". |

Dude, if we just convicted and sentenced people without giving them a chance to say what they have to say, we are going to be locking up a lot of innocent people. There's nothing pointless about a trial. |

In most cases, I would say you're right. But them being here on a premise that they know they're presence is illegal, yet proceeding to commit a criminal act anyways is why I see them undeserving of a trial. As I have said multiple times, I have no place to interfere with the Bill of Rights or deny someone their rights, but that's just how I feel it should be. And "locking up innocent people" is not an adequate term; I would say "Deporting criminals who have decided to commit another crime in spite of the knowledge of their own criminal acts" would be more accurate. |
