This is a thread where you tell about "God Sightings". Some people call this coincidence, but for the christians and whatnot, this is what God will help us with.

Me? I've had several on this trip. One is how we got on the airplane withoug being late, and another one was with our group on the mission trip, a guy took out some stuff and was looking down, and a large wooden board with nails barely grazed his head, instead of just hitting him. And a group of men had lost their lunch the day we were there with food.

I had a lot, but I just can't remember them. Go ahead.

So, you're basically talking about things that are "close calls" that give rise to the belief that "someone up there is watching over me"? Or just any sort of spiritual experience in general?

I think it more likely that the belief comes before the close calls.

They don't have to be close calls. It's when you know that God is watching you based on something that happens.

I remember one day, I was having a pretty lousy day, and I wanted a Twix to cheer me up, but it turns out I was 5 cents short. I checked the coin return on the vending machine and found a dime. That cheered me up considerably, more than the candy alone could have.

Wow. That sure was god right there.

You need to show that God was there for you at a point.

Ahahaha. I think the presence of God is probably most subjective thing there is to discuss, so unless he was kidding, you should probably not criticize him...

Damik does have a point. Sometimes it's those little things that we can see God in most clearly. Remember the story of Elijah in the wilderness? God showed him a raging storm, a mighty earthquake, and a roaring fire. But God was in the quiet whisper.

I'm planning on telling my story soon. It's a long one, and very painful, but I really feel like it's time to share. And, yes, it has something to do with my recent ordination.

well..maybee when i was about 6 months olde, my father had invested all of his money in this crazy idea of a tejano radio show. one day, my parents were flat broke, and i hadnt eaten in 2 days. my father was (and still is) a big news reporter, so everyone thought he had alotof money. that one day, i was crying because i was hungry, my father was going to write a hot check to get me food. he didnt want to do it because it would be embarrasing for a local star to be seen without money, so we drove to the poor side oftown, hoping noone would recognise him. they drive upto this old poor grocery store, and when they open up the car door, right there on the ground is a 20 dollar bill.

My mother says thats the reason she belives theres a god.

I'm not sure if this counts, but i had a dream about talking with God. I never actually saw him, but it totally changed my beliefs.
Now i believe.
I have seen the light.

Hannah, that's the most incredible story I've ever heard from anyone.

As for me, I don't really know. I feel that God is always with me and helping me with day to day tasks. I'd have to really try and find a good memory...

Well, I'm not sure if this counts, as it doesn't seem to necessarily go along with Christian beliefs, but it's still something spiritual I've experienced: I remember dying from a previous life. That is, I remember what it feels like to die, to have my physical body dying around me while my spirit leaves it.

Of course, there are some people who will tell you that in a universe of infinite possibilities, something like that HAS to happen sometime...

Including breaking the laws of physics?

damik, there's a word I use for such things like this, and it's this: a miracle.

I can't think of any spiritual moments in my life with God. If I've had any, I think they might have been very quietly done.

The truth is, we don't know everything about physics. Who's to say what's impossible and improbable?

And I don't think that story really does break any laws of physics. He just got lucky. What about all those times something DID go wrong? Nobody ever pins that on God.

That's not entirely true. In moments of weakness/doubt, I've often been angered at God for the things he lets happen to good people.

I have spoken to God, and sometimes when I am stuck or have writer's block, he gives me just the right thing to say. And by "spoken to God" I don't mean just in my mind; I said words aloud and he spoke back.

Now here's the big question: How come when I do that, he never replies?

It's simple.. He doesn't love you... Just kidding.. God always sends a sign... he sends messanges in different ways..

He doesn't give a flat-out answer. First you have to invite Jesus into your heart, then He works in your life.

Plus, more often than no God likes to speak in subtle ways. Sometimes you don't even notice them, until later.

For instance, about fours years back I caught a nasty strain of strep throat right at the end of my freshman rowing season. I had planned on going to a crew camp and do that sot of thing for the rest of the summer, but that completely blew my plans. I instead had to wait and heal up befoer I could even think of what I wanted to do for the summer. I finally decided upon going to this adventure camp in Pennsylvania, called Allegheny Outback. There, my faith was seriously challenged, I saw somebody who was the closest I think was possible to being a Christian without actually being so (and may have finally accepted), and I grew 200% in my personal walk. It wasn't until almost a year later that I fully realized that if I hadn't have had my summer ruined bcause of catching strep, I never would have even thought of going to AO, and who know's where I'd ultimately have wound up, otherwise. It started a me on a major part of my journey.

As Jesus said, God is working constantly. Sometimes, though, you have to be looking for it.

Hey, you know, for a long time I haven't believed in God... but this thread is actually kind of making feel like there is a greater being out there. Isn't that something? People can change, so easily. I've come to expect anything.

To be rudely blunt, I'll state my opinion on 'miraculous' events by citing a quote from the movie Pi:

Quote:
You're connecting a computer bug I had with a computer bug you might have had and some religious hogwash. You want to find the number 216 in the world, you will be able to find it everywhere. 216 steps from a mere street corner to your front door. 216 seconds you spend riding on the elevator. When your mind becomes obsessed with anything, you will filter everything else out and find that thing everywhere.

I do not believe that there is anything supernatural in these experiences, but one thing that I love about religion is how it affects people. You become the subject of a rare occurrence, and regardless of its insignificance, you feel closer to your incarnation of greatness, and that in itself is a great thing.

And I will respond with a quote from the Matrix:

"I do not see coincidence; I see providence." - Morbius

And here's another good one:

"In my experience, there's no such thing as luck." - Obi Wan Kenobi

Just the fact that I believe and have a pretty strong faith shows that God is here. My parents didn't raise me to have faith. The Holy Spirit worked through my friends to show me the light. It's pretty amazing.

So now that you're ordained and you're quoting religious figures from movies, tisk tisk Didymus, tisk tisk. /kidding
