Definitely like Lappy, and the whole email as well. Loved the fanglyfish, as it seems I can't get enough of Mike's impressions.
Sterrence, however, didn't crack me up. At all. I laughed way more at the sight of the huuuuuudge than at him. I guess I just found him too irregular with that disturbing character design. Aw, well. Everyone thinks differently. Not two people are not on fire.

This Rocks. I mean, a laptop is a serious step forward in technology. What rocks most though, besides the email, is that I have an old 486 laptop that looks really close to that (by what I can remember), besides the fact that mine has a monochrome screen... I'll see if I can get a pic.

There's been some super new characters in the particular episode (hudge!), and the ancient lappy I think is a great idea, as it is the next logical step from lil' ol' compy! One of the best so far!

:trogdor: Compy is no more and lappy is the new champ. he only weight is only 42lbs., his long lasting battery can last for FIVE minets, he has a 2MB hard drive and 512k of RAM. he is the better computer. :trogdor:

instead of a contrast button, if you click on the screen, the area will distort liek a real one!

Like a lot of people I'm sure, I've never really known the Strong Bad E-mails without the Compy 386. Sure, I've gone back and looked at the pre-"invisibility" e-mails, but that's historical...I guess. But the Lappy is cool and stuff.

I liked this one. It's not in the running for best ever, but it was entertaining and up to the usual Strong Bad E-mail standards. I especially liked the deep sea fangly fish, calling The Cheat "Captain Past-His-Prime", and the Lappy 486-The Paper introduction.

"Lappy, this is The Paper. He lets me know when I've stopped being funny."

Funny, I have a broken Compaq Armada 7730MT. I mourned it very much when it broke. :-(

I will get a pic soon.

PS: It's got 98 megabytes of RAM. :p

well, even though it is a lappy, it is also a compy. compy makes it.

The Lappy looks amazingly like the Outbound laptop.

There goes my theory that The Paper (and possibly a printer) lived behind the Tandy/Compy. I don't know if I like this "new computer".

I LOVE the Lappy!!!! The email itself though, this definitely isn't one of the best emails ever.

I'm actually kind of disappointed. Lappy is a bit too modern. It's almost capable of running Windows 95!

I was hoping for something more like the Compaq Porable http://www.obsoletecomputermuseum.org/compaq/. Or even better a Kaypro 2000 http://oldcomputers.net/kaypro2000.html.

I'd say an Osborne http://oldcomputers.net/osborne.html, but I'd really be dating myself. My brother bought about a dozen of them when they finally went out of business and used them for various purposes such as print spoolers.

That was the best. It cracked me up! Not as much as some emails, but it definitely was a winner.

I DO NOT want to be the zoo keeper who cleans Da Huuuuuudge's cage. I might get fangoriously devoured. And we all know that's... painful.

I must express somewhat of a distaste for this e-mail.

It must have just rubbed me the wrong way because it was creative, although I found it severely unfunny.

I like the Lappy, but they could have made it's debut so much funnier.

I'm almost certain I'm in the minorty, here, but I feel pretty disappointed here. I was really hoping that TBC were going to put the e-mails on ice for a little bit to develop some new features for the site.

I love the e-mails and all, but the Compy getting shotgunned would have been the perfect opportunity to work on some new stuff. Some new big toons, some wicked-awesome Videlectrix games, new characters, the stuff that TBC have said in interviews that they've wanted to work on.

I hate to say it, but I kinda feel like I'm being pandered to. I really hope that TBC haven't painted themselves into a corner with the popularity of the e-mails.

(edited for redundancy)

The new lappy too recent? You guys do realise the 486 hit the market coming on 16 years ago, right?

At least your email animation doesn't usually last longer than that. Though it'd be a fun gimmick for the battery -to- run out during an email or two. Or it would signal the end of the email like the Paper does. (And might I add, the Paper gets some more personality in this email; rock on.)

If you look when Strong Bad is talking to The Cheat, you can see that the Lappy 486 is plugged into the wall. How it got plugged in or where the chord was at the beginning of the email - we may never know...

It might just be me, but for some reason, I just get the feeling that TBC didn't "bring their A game" this week. This email just didn't work for me. Maybe it was because Virus just set the bar so high that it would be impossible for anything to live up to the expectations.

Still, I did like the paper's added personality. That was great. Lappy reminds me of my first laptop (42 Pounds (LBS), 5 min batt life, LOL).

Hopefully, TBC will bounce back next week. I'm guessing they were a little off this weekend for the same reason I was (TOO MUCH TURKEY).

Well, two people for sure making their first posts in this thread, and no one says welcome. I'm new myself, but anyways

Welcome to the HRWiki forums! You know we have a Wiki right?

I guess for the people who didn't like it that much, they're not in a huge minority.

Ah yes, a lap top. I can't wait for more 'on location' e-mails. Remember that one where SB answered one with Pom Pom's palm pilot?

The Lappy really takes me back. By first computer was a Tosheba Tecra 720CDT. It was like 10 lbs, and just short of 3 inches thick. Don't remember the rest of the specs, I still have the sucker but there's nothing on it. When I turn it on, it asks me to install an operating system...

I gotta watch it again, I didn't think to check for any liquid screen warpings...

Hurray for the email!!

Hurray for the Lappy 486!!

Not a bad email at all!

My favorite parts were Sterrance, the Fangly Fish, and that
"Steep Prices and Trees" easter egg!

I'd give this email a 9/10.

I hope we see a lot more of Sterrance!!
He's wicked awesome!!

beautiful. i was giggling when the monstrosity started foaming at the mouth, laughing uncontrollably when da huuuuuuuudge plopped down on the field and started settling across the grass, and i lost it when strong bad freaked out at the third 'nasty blob' he managed to come up with.

good e-mail.

and, as for the lappy, it's great, too. not much of a departure from the compy, and it offers more opportunities than a desktop could offer.

I liked this email a lot. It was far from the best, but really quite entertaining. I want my very own Huuuuuudge, and El Pardak was just freaky, what with a Strong Sad-like leg for an arm. The Red Steckled Elbermung was just nasty

Oh yeah, and for all yous guys saying the email client has a delete "icon" or "button", I think it's just a label saying you press "D" (well, most likely you have to escape out first or something so that you can type capital D's in your messages) to delete the current email. Kinda like all the keyboard commands in vi (someone else here must have edited in vi, right?) The email client reminds me a little of Pine, although with obvious differnces. I'm pretty sure Strong Bad is still purely text-based.

As for Lappy 486 itself, I think it's a good idea. they can have lots of fun with it, and it brings back memories of my old 486SX/33 (although mine was a desktop, not a laptop)

I liked this email, but like others, didn't feel like this was the best. It looks like Strong Bad is stronger than I thought, being able to lift 42 lbs with one hand (has he been working out without us knowing?). Here are the reasons why I liked the email:
-The new Lappy 486
-Fangly fish (especially with Homestar's head as a lure)
-Strong Bad's three attempts in making an animal (all coming out to be blobs)
-The Paper meeting the Lappy (that was pretty cute, especially when Strong Bad said, "He's not going to bite you or your perforated edges." or something like that)
-Some nice quotes ("Steep prices and trees" "Wow! Look at the huuuuudge!")
I'm really looking foward to Strong Bad deleting an email, so I can see how the deleting sequence goes on the Lappy.
