Still, they said it jokingly in the commentary, so I think that they will kick off the e-mail sometime in January. If not, then we're all doomed to no-more-SBemail HELL!!!!!!!

Actually, he doesn't answer it. Simply reading the greeting and going off to interrogate Homestar doesn't mean he's answered the e-mail. In Depressio he does answer it. Therefore, it's not a true SBEmail.

I'm with the 'Never' crowd. While SBEmails have been awesome it's time to put it to rest.

I'm more along the lines of the "bad timing" crowd, as the best reason Mike could give in the commentary was diarrhea. Which hopefully has passed by now (eww...). And keep in mind that Strong Bad E-Mails is the most popular and most-developed feature on the entire site; if they're going to end it, that means they will need to start a new weekly feature that will be as good or better. Now, if I were TBC and wanted to end Strong Bad E-Mails, I would start introducing new features first and see how they went over, then retire SBE once something is ready to take its place. Otherwise, you're really banking on getting a killer idea that'll hold your audience, and as devoted of fans as we are, it's going to be hard for many of us to not have SBE to go back to.

Not for awhile. I'm actually kind of glad. As much as I love Strong Bad, I want the chaps to use their own ideas for story line, and develop other characters. I mean, there is only so much you can do from a Strong Bad perspective. In my opinion, the new Dween toon is the funniest dween toon yet.

I really don't think the SBemails have ended. Yes, I read the commentary for Sbemail 200 but I'm not sure I'm convinced that Matt was being 100% serious when he said that. It seemed more like a "We're taking a much needed break, then we'll see what happens" than anything.

I'm pretty sure it'll be a good while before they do Sbemail 201. It's good to take a break and work on fresh ideas and that's exactly what they're doing.

Well, I have not only read that commentary, I was able to hear it. And Matt sounded far from serious to me. It was more the kind of talk like when somebody asks you if you're awake and you answer "No, I am totally fast asleep! Don't wake me up!!". (I think this was bad English, but I'm too tired to rephrase it.)

While I am pretty sure this is not the last sbemail,it would be hilarious if it was:Think about it.In alternate universe there was a song called 'save the last email for strong bad',yet sbemail200 was an email for Homestar.

There are two more Mondays left in January. If they don't have a new sbemail by the end of this month I'll worry. But there is such a high demand for sbemails now I'm sure they'll put one up soon.

There's 3 ways to know that IT IS IN FACT the last sbemail

1)The paper DIDN'T STAY at the end, so slowpokes or easter egg hunters could click it
2)Look at the QoW after the email. The LAST EMAIL SONG
3)DVD COMMENTARY

I highly doubt that this will be the last sbemail. There were people who thought there would be no more emails after email 50, 100, 125, 150, and 159, and they were all wrong. TBC wouldn't just stop making sbemails - it's the site's main attraction. None of the reasons you gave provide much evidence -

1) The Paper also didn't stay (or even show at all) in email 159, but there were more emails afterward.
2) Last can mean most recent as well as final.
3) The DVD commentary, as others have said, is quite obviously sarcasm. If this were the final email, they wouldn't have said that.

My opinion? TBC are simultaneously trying their hardest to get us to think sbemail 200 was the last and taking a well-earned break. I agree with others that I'd like to see more toons and shorts featuring main characters besides Strong Bad, but I enjoy having a weekly sbemail to rely on anyway. I think it may still be a while yet before we see another, but I'm keeping my hopes up that it'll be soon.

33 (SB's computer explodes), 40 (SB goes on vacation), 50 (milestone; SB's computer suffers a Flagrant System Error), 53 ("Okay, so, that's it! No more Strong Bad Emails. Nah, I'm just kiddin'... maybe."), 100 (milestone), 118 (Compy is destroyed), 125 (minor milestone; seems like it's wrapping up all the emails to date), 150 (milestone; "Save the Last Email for Strong Bad" song), 159 (again, seems like it's wrapping up the history; no "click here to email SB" link), 173 (the loss of the paper), 200 (this thread).
Also, every single time a while passes without updates.

Indeed... even if this turns out to actually be the final email, I'm convinced that that hadn't been decided at the time the commentary was recorded... the commentary was pretty clearly a joke.

My 2 cents: They're gonna do this for ages, until they have enough money to retire, or can't do it anymore (or it stops getting fans). Every time they reach another 100, they'll pretend that it's over, only to comeback until eventually something happens that forces them to end it. At that point, they'll come out and say it for real, not as a joke in a DVD.
