Hey everybody, I've been hanging around the Wiki for a while now, but never really got involved in the forum, so this is my first post.

Honestly, I wasn't that impressed with this one. I enjoyed it, it was pretty funny, but I'm surprised that people are calling this one "best ever." There are many, many emails that are better than this one (for the record, the best email ever is "Virus"). But still, this one was pretty funny.
To whoever thought "aboot" was a South Park reference, SP was referencing the stereotypical Canadian "accent" in the first place, TBC were referencing this, not SP (I'm Canadian, and I don't think we say "aboot"...but I'll admit we do say "eh" :ehsteve: ).
So overall , this one obviously wasn't the best one ever, but it made and otherwise dull monday much funnier. 7.5/10

Well, I really haven't found anything "that" funny with these new emails feat the Lappy. I still love them, but there not the greatest. But that just my opinion.

sorry to start my first message on something relatively off topic, but as someone who moved to Canada two years ago i thought the whole 'aboot' discussion was funny. i live in ontario and while it's true that some people say aboot (as well as a-gain instead of again), it's quite a small minority and i suspect they're all originally from newfoundland. there is definitely no such thing as a uniform canadian accent, but most people have this soft, almost accentless north american accent. anyhoo...

i thought the dreamail was nice. not ingenious like virus or the older classics but definitely worth the weekly wait. TBC have always had their ups and (very moderate) lows so i doubt it makes sense to say they're getting worse. if anything the jokes got more elaborate and there are many more references to previous emails so when people find something to be random and unfunny it's likely just a missed reference.

i liked the cadburry cream omelet , 128 hot katies, 'soccermom' submarine and that SB's dream lappy was yet another 'moderately hot' blonde female with disproportionately huge lips.

on the other hand i could do without the usual joke of misreading the emailer's name.

i wish they'd do an email with homestar as a canadian spy. he actually has the exact same voice as this local kid i know.

So, does anyone else agree that the choice of 128 hot Katies is to do with retro computing? I mean, back when people pretty much thought in hexadecimal, 128 was a common number. Heaven knows I'll always associate it with the ZX Spectrum

I have to say that I am leaning more toward the negative side of this arguement. While I did enjoy several elements of the e-mail, including the female Lappy and a few catch phrases, overall it did nothing for me. In fact, it disappointed me.

For starters, having the paper come out as the Declaration of Independence was totally unnecessary, and, like several post-Compy events, takes away from the continuity of the e-mails. In other words, it's weird. I reluctantly suffered through the "preeeeow" note on Mrs. B. in hopes that a normal-ending e-mail would make up for it. I remember a day when we could count on THE paper to bring us to a close. And, if we all recall, the paper was even reluctant to welcome Lappy.

Second, and more pressing, where is my "back" button? One of the few constants I can count on in an e-mail --in any toon or character page or anything for that matter-- is, lo and behold, absent from the end of this e-mail.

Not that it's a big deal, but there is a decline or lack of consistancy in the e-mails of late that, I fear, may slowly but surely be leading to the downfall of Strong Bad E-mails. I hope I am wrong, and look forward to being proven so by an outstanding, virus-like work in the near future. However, I am afraid that, with the arrival of Lappy and the newborn weirdness that has surrounded us, we may have seen SB E-mail's best days. :sb:

I hate to make my first point kind of negative, but here it goes. I wasn't that impressed with this email. There were humerous moments, but I didn't laugh out loud at any point. There were nice references, but nothing that got me excited. Strongbad wasn't that funny. This isn't even close to the best email ever. TBC seem to be in a bit of a slump. Of course a slum means pretty good stuff, but I've been spoiled and come to expect way more. The bar has been raised and this email just didn't quite meet it.

I like Cadbury's cream eggs...

mmm... Cadbury's cream eggs.

As Homestar would say, 'Those things are bad for you'

Oh, right, that's off topic.

I thought this e-mail was kinda pants (just like the last one.) It just wasn't funny. It had potential... But none of that was used. I actually found it boring and annoying.

To be honest.. I couldn't really see anything funny in it.

Just to completely nitpick, it's actually the United States Constitution, and I still can't believe that people on the Wiki keep accidentally labeling it as the Declaration.

pants=crap (basically)

Except crap is sometimes taken as a swear word, whereas pants is not.

Ahhh... thanks prideofthepeaches, that's exactly what I was going to say...

Just to build on that, living very close to the USA border and hearing many, many accents in my days (woosh, I sound like a old cronne or something) the only two distinct accents that I can think of that are Canadian are Newfondland and Quebec accents. Perhaps it was just Homestar's unique way of pronouncing things again..... ;)

Anyways, about the e-mail, it was okay, but I had the impression that they where trying to be 'too' random.... but then again people are still pulling out of New Years and Christmas gear and back to regular gear.

Whoa.. this page (3) has more new users than the Introductions thread...

I think that this one was one of the less-fantastic ones, but overall, good. Probably a C+

Could have been better, but then arent we going to judge all e-mails by the standard set in "virus"??

Also it could have been a lot worse, for example last weeks - "part time job"

7/10

This did seem like this e-mail would never end. That's what made it so good. I liked this e-mail, it really had some great moments that had me laughing. All in all, good prize.

This was not the best email ever.... but it definately had its moments.
Chester Elegante, what a name! I could easily picture him in a Lem style drawing.
Cadbury Creme Eggs (yes, Creme is how it's spelled on the wrapper) are the bomb... Didn't think they had those in the USofA.
Katie 80 was greaty....-aty. Laughed lots.
Like I said, not a best place, but maybe a mediocre 6/10. Better luck next week... or 2.

SB's dreamail made no sense. Where did that chain on his comp come from? Why is he pretending to be some French guy? What was so funny about the graffiti? Was I the only one who thought that the lappy logo talking was irritating? What was with the submarine at the end? How does his idea of a dreamail go from 128 Katies that he is unable to meet with to celebrity murder mystery?
me.

If you ask me, most of Strong Bad's e-mails are chock full of obscure, silly references. This e-mail is no exception. The idea of Strong Bad fantasizing about being a classy Frenchman or Sub-Mariner who aids celebrities in need are funny because they are ridiculous fantasies. Many of Strong Bad's e-mails make use of his wild imagination and this is just another one. I thought it was funny (better than the last) and that's my opinion, plain and simple. I can also understand why someone would disagree. Just thought I'd throw in my two cents.

But as an actual Katie, how could I pass up the joke as a name? It's not like he makes Katie jokes every week. And like I said above; I liked it, but it's no where near TBC at their best.

Aaanyway, I thought this email was great. I was saddened by the lack of easter eggs, but the female talking Lappy made up for it. I love how TBC keep bringing back tiny little jokes, like having the Lappy say "the ladies will be all up ons". Homestar saying "aboot" was great, although I must agree with other Canadians in that I don't think we say it that way. I think Americans say "abowt". Ha! (Just a joke, don't get upset.) The 227 door was wonderful; another of those jokes that us older people can appreciate. And I liked the Cheat's backwards reading, and the 128 Hot Katies. It's been a while since SB talked about ladies, so I'm glad he's back on track. So if I had to rate this one, it'd be an 8.5/10.
Off-Topic: Anyone else go play with Microsoft Sam after watching the email? I made mine say "If you are looking for trouble, you've found it" like Stephen Hawking on the Simpsons.

For the first time in a while on H*r ,I burst out laughing at this email , in particular katie 80 and the cabury's creme egg omlette . In fact when easter comes around and the eggs are back on the shelves back on the shelves I may try one for myself.

Better than the last one, that's for sure but in my opinion not quite as great. Maybe I should haev watched it the first time in different conditions- got interrupted and had to mute my headphones because I was being told something. Fav part was Cheat trying to read email backwards. The rest of it just didn't......"tickle" me.

Something I'm thinking the next email should have- when we start the topic have a poll of "how much did you like the email" with maybe three to five options like awexome, grood, ok, bad. Just to get an overview of what we thought of it.

Okay, is it just me or did the Female Lappy seem like HAL-9000? Just creepy and sort of...well...sexy voiced. It's odd.

So, um, I hate to be the one that asks the obvious question but... why the constitution??? What on earth did that have to do with anything?

At first I thought the BC were doing something awful, and that is was a reference to that movie that I don't plan to see, National Treasure. Then I discovered that in the movie they're looking for the Declaration of Independance, not the Constitution. So fortunately that's not it. But... huh????

I mean, I realize it's just weird for the sake of being weird, but usually the BC are doing something a little more interesting.

*shrugs* I dunno... I thought this email was pretty good.

I think the reason that most people tend to say "this email wasn't very good" was becuase people always tend to compare it with the most recent email, or their favorites. I'll admit I even fell into this way of thinking when last weeks came out. I pretty much only didn't like it becuase it wasn't up to the qaulity of "animal" and "Virus". That's not the emails fault. At least they did one that was amusing. I should be glad for that, and i think we all should be kinda glad for that.

I think everyone has been spoiled by Virus. That email was exceptional.. not something easily topped. Now everyone's expecting every email with Lappy to top "Virus". Which probably can't be done. As long as the Bros don't go back to having Strong Bad simply answering an email with a carcastic saying and then it ending without him going anywhere or doing anything, like "Butt IQ" or "Homestar Hair" then they haven't lost their touch. Going back to that style will be the ONLY way they could fall from gace at this point. And of course it's ridiculous to entertain the notion that they'll go back to the style of "Butt IQ" and "Homestar Hair"...

Basically, Japanese Cartoon, Dragon, and Virus should all be noted for being the best/most popular. And it'll probably remain that way.

Sbmails are like a band. There's always gonna be the most timeless, popular singles, and then there will be all the other songs of various quaility that come out through the years, with maybe the occasional surprsing "top 10 hit". Anyway, that's how I look at it. Just becuase not every song a band does is the best song ever by them, dosn't mean that they aren't an awesome band.

Also, when I saw the Pink Floyd fun fact, i was about to debate it. But then I watched the email again. Now, i love Floyd, and I must have listened to Echoes a million times during my life... So I took a second look at the email, and found that that is INDEED the proper "echoes" effect. neat!

I thought it would probably just be a "proper" sonar effect, but it isn't. Pink Floyd made that effect by putting an echo effect on a recorded (and looped) piano key plink. And that's exactly what this one in the email is. Maybe the bros did this piano plink themselves, ofr maybe it's a direct rip from the song. Either way, it IS a refrence. ^_^

And here, i was all set to debate that it wasn't from "echoes". heh. :p
