thank you for adding more sarcasm to this thread, but i simply wanted to pitch the idea to homestar fans to see if anyone would be interested or if i was simply deluding myself........i see now that the occupants of this entire forum are nothing more that Chapman groupies who feel they need to crucify anyone who would dare to impose on the homestar runner empire.....a simple "no i don't think it would sell" would have been more than sufficient......

TBC is in a SBE-mail slump, does anybody else think this?

Sorry for the unfair jibe, bioflame, I know it's important to keep a friendly environment. I should have just said that I thought the pitch was a bit off-topic and distracting. Maybe you should start your own separate thread to discuss this?

Let's get back to the point. I thought TBC were in a slump for a while, but everthing since "virus" has been great. I wasn't crazy about "part-time job" or "secret recipes" but I like the others and radio is an all-time favorite. I do wish TBC would use the KoT and the Poopsmith more, though.

I don't think TBC are in an email slump. Emails exist almost independently from each other, you can have three good followed by three bad. It's natural and random, can't find the word for it. If you can make 1,000 free throws in a row, then miss the next 500 while stillt rying to get them in, maybe I'll think of it as a slump. "Regaining their touch..." what touch needs to be regained?

Quite surprised at the negative response on this one. First I thought it was mediocre, although it seemed to resemble those Beatles cartoons. Started to pick up toward the end. "Don't eat your drums!" The remote in Strong Sad's face. ANd of course Larry's voice just cracks me up every time "maybe on DVDDDDD!!!!!!!!" Great to see Nebulon again. The best is Gary throwing the guitar to real-life Larry. Definitely liked this one, although not spectacular. Enough to make me watch it twice more. Looks like we're split on this one.

I still think we should make a poll for each email thread and make it sticky.

Hey this wasn't all bad. This reminded me of all those old shows that didnt even make it onto Boomerang. I'm not really old enough to have seen those (13) but I still kinda understood it. And I liked the whole Chuck Taylor alternative music thing. Overall: 8/10

I deny any slump that TBC are supposedly in.

Slump? No way! This email was heaps good!
Limozeen, but they're in space!

I like how Mitch was the extremely random caller to get the passes, the appearance of the Nebulon, and especially Teeg Douglas
"I'm afraid I've got some bad news, guys".
I'm a bit too young to remember most of the cartoons posted previously, but I do have vague memories of He-man and She-ra and all those other action heros, and Scooby-Doo.
But there's nothing wrong with alternative bands!

9/10, for lack of eggs

I didn't like this email because I couldent tell between the Limozeen peoples. so 8/10 it was a good concept.

Though I'm not really sure what you're saying, as making the email named "sbemail126_mx.swf" wouldn't "thwart" your efforts of making a SBEmail player, I think that people may download it if you make it free. I mean, I understand the fact that this would make the task of viewing e-mails more convenient (really only on the hard drive), I doubt that anyone would pay for this. Also, I'd prefer you not judge about 400 people based on a few posts by one person.

As for the e-mail, I'm not particularly impressed, but it was okay. 6/10

I didn't really like this email at all. Probably my LEAST favorite of them all. I don't think Limozeen is really that funny to begin with unless they're singing a song. But what I REALLY didn't like was the fact that the animation of the limozeen cartoon show was awful.

I guess i get that maybe the awfulness was supposed to be funny... but it's as good as the animation "I" can do in flash. And I'm awful. So I guess I just didn't find it funny. lol.

Really just a good concept that became boring though. Could have been hillarious. And the tape getting eaten up? That isn't predictable.. that would have been awesome. The email should have had that happen early on and then been more about Strong Bad TRYING to cope with it. lol.

I'll bet everyone who said "This was the worst email ever" is 11 years old or younger and can't appreciate all the spoofs in it, or the entire Limozeen thing for that matter. I loved this email, they did almost as good a job of spoofing in it as they did in "Japanese Cartoon." Good job, guys.

I'm 20 Big Knife. And I get the jokes. I just don't think they're funny in even a nostalgic way. I just thought the email wasn't that good. Hence why I said so.

However, I didn't say TBC were in a slump or losing their touch like some people. You can't have a good email every week.

There is a saying in the film industry... your only as good as your last movie (or project). It applies to this I think. One bad email and someone thinks TBC has lost their touch.

But everyone finds different emails as their favorites anyway. So it what isn't funny to one, might be to another.

I find the japanese cartoon email to be on of my all-time favorites. I got the jokes in that one too, but I found them much funnier.

Perhaps I don't find emails like "montage" or "best ever!" that funny because too many other shows on television do the same kinds of spoofs.

When I read on the wiki that the email had Strong Sad in it, I was happy. :bubs: , but this email disappointed me. Maybe the Chaps should have waited a week. Also, I wanted to be the one to first represent my state of MD. Le sigh...

The only thing I liked in that email was Larry from Limozeen. That guy cracks me up. I hope TBC makes a better Strong Bad Email next week.

I don't see why everyone thinks that this is a bad e-mail and/or you have to be "old " to enjoy it. I'm going on 14 and thought this one was great. It wasn't as good as rock opera, but I still liked it.

(this is my first time posting on this forum by the way)

I liked this email. It wasn't quite as funny as it could have been, but I liked the concept of it. I give it a 7.5531897 / 10.

Not at all. As I have stated many a times, different people find different things funny. Some people loved something like Flashback, while others hated it. I liked this one. Has some really great references to the old, kinda crappy cartoons that never really made it.

I think perhaps TBC made a Limozeen cartoon in order to show what they (TBC) would look like in Flash animation.

It's the only time they've animated themselves, right?

But, it wouldn't have worked if the animation was good. The animation needed to be, well, Hanna Barbera bad. "No one actually moves in a Hanna Barbera toon!"

Its the first time they ever animated people. Strong Mad doesn't count since he's a bit akward. It was interesting to see them parody the style of these lame cartoons too. The way they were always being chased and running in positions real men would break over. And Teeg's hands constantly flapping. I thought it was a riot. Some classic lines too:

"But why are they in space?! There's no reason for them to be in space!"

I don't think I've heard a line that classic since, "Looks like I'm gonna have to jump!"

I got that it was supposed to look like that. I was just saying that I didn't find it funny because that's as good as "I" draw in flash and I am not impressed with it.

i dunno, i thought it was pretty good... but it didn't make me laugh as hard as so many other things on the site. but it was nowhere near the worst. i'm only 13 and i still got all of the old cartoon refrences. the people who didn't thought that the things limozeen said were supposed to be funny. no, they're funny because they're not funny. now that is humour.

I'm old enough to have seen original Rocky and Bullwinkle episodes. I'm old enough to remember when certain metal bands started to become a caricature of themselves. I'm old enough to remember when Chuck Taylors were the state of the art shoes for basketball, and not a fashion statement. (Hey, I'm old enough to remember when the phrase "fashion statement" was a novelty.)

I have socks older than most of the posters here.

In a word, I'm old.

Finally, I have been logging onto H*R since the "i love you" sbemail debuted.

All that said, this was, imho, the worst sbemail ever. "Tape-leg" was a laugh riot by comparison. Just because one can appreciate the spoofs (and I did, for the most part) does not imply that said spoofs were funny or good. I, like many, appreciated the spoofs in both of the Mel Brooks films "Young Frankenstein" and "High Anxiety" - only the former has stood the test of time as funny.

However, a little context is needed. I hold the opinion that TBC have been riding a creative wave - 'tubing', if you will - from "virus" to "rock opera". With this one, the wave has hit the shoreline.

<shrug> No biggie. Not all of 'em can be gems.

Forever Old,
Chester

The only good thing about this email was Strong Bad throwing the remote control at Strong Sad. Other than that, here's three words: worst Lappy email.

(away from the three words) I mean, I know that I think negatively for all but two Lappy emails (animal and rock opera), but this goes beyond the other emails that I don't like that much. At least those had some good stuff (i.e. radio: Strong Sad voice mismatch, part-time job: Paper easter egg and Lappy shutting down). Well, at least it's not the worst email ever.

This is simply ridiculous.

Anymore this forum seems to be a place for people to bash the brothers Chaps for all the work that they do. Look at the forum threads for each of the past several emails... all of them have at least a few people claiming that it was the "worst email since *x*".

OK, on to a real reviewish thing: This email was *NOT* the best ever, but was a far cry from worst ever. The animation style used was very clever, meant to be a flashback to The Flinstones, Scooby-Doo, and other Hanna-Barbera cartoons. The spoof here was very clever, and I wonder how some people managed not to get it. 8/10

"Anymore this forum seems to be a place"? Huh?

Beyond that, let's not confuse bashing a particular email or toon with bashing TBC. As a whole, I admire their work. I keep coming back for "the next one". I just wasn't fond of this particular sbemail.

Quote:
Look at the forum threads for each of the past several emails... all of them have at least a few people claiming that it was the "worst email since *x*".

And with a sufficient sample size (posters) over a standard distribution ("x" out of 10), you will ALWAYS, statistically speaking, "have at least a few people claiming" best/worst. Not a shocker there.

Quote:
OK, on to a real reviewish thing:

As opposed to all the prior "false" reviewish things?

Quote:

Oh, I see. Your opinion is "real" reviewish, whereas my opinion is "false". I'm onto you now. ;)

Quote:

More derivative of "Scooby" in terms of artwork, but also referencing the aforementioned "Josie....In Space", and "Ghostbusters" toons.

Again, just because you "spoof" something does not imply that said spoof is funny or clever - and, all due respect, I wonder how you're not managing to understand that difference. Andy Kaufman spoofing Elvis was clever AND funny; the droves of Elvis impersonators that followed are neither, for the most part.

In short, I "got it". It just wasn't that funny to me - nor clever.

Care for some cheese to go with that? :p
