When will the lappy die?

maybe it'll happen at E-mail 200....just an estimate.....Strong Bad will get involved into this big computer crash and it'll delete all it's files including the thing that makes it reboot so he can't turn it back on! :homsar:

If the Lappy died in 2007 like I originally predicted, it could have suddenly started burning like those laptops powered by Sony batteries. But now everyone probably forgot about those.

I think that when the Lappy finally dies, Strong Bad should upgrade to an old, obsolete OS with a graphical interface. That might be too much of an upgrade for Strong Bad to handle, though.

Well, linear regression for era length would say it'll die on email 234, and death email number would say it dies in email 196 (next email!) But considering there are only two data points, I wouldn't trust either of those predicting methods to be accurate. However, somewhere in the 230s sounds like a good guess to me.

How the Lappy dies? If I had to guess (or, more accurately, make stuff up), it would be probably be something similar to the ISP email, with Homestar being an idiot at the office, leading to taking it to Bubs, ending in its extravagant destruction. My guess on that is Bubs ends up tricking out the Lappy to modern state-of-the-art levels, ending in either a massive malfunction/explosion right in the "workshop," or Strong Bad rejects it, and either destroys it himself, or makes Bubs change it back, which results in it being destroyed in an unusual way on accident. Either that or Strong Bad says something like "I want it like my old computer again," resulting in Bubs shotgunning it, or something equally self-referencing.

I think the idea of it dying in 199 and the 200th being about getting a new computer is great, but I don't think it's likely.

IMHO, TBC would never put a machinery death on an anniversary, and there are only 4 more emails that that would leave the Lappy if it's to die before 200. Most likely, she's going to be alive to see 200, and I think we can expect at least 20-30 more.

I think he's going to upgrade to something like that Mac interface he used in "big white face", just because that's the only logical step up from a laptop. What would be the interactive doohickey on a mac though?

Methinks we need to change the poll. Emails 187, 190 and 195 have long since past, and the Lappy died in neither of those.

I'm agreeing to most of the suggestions put here as regards breakage and time. But I have my own opinion as regards upgrade:
Strong Bad is currently working at a Command Line Interface. The next step, which they expermented with in Email "the bird", is a Menu Driven Interface. Ergo, maybe he'll get an older version of the Pom Pilot. Maybe the SB Pilot. I mean, he didn't have a problem with it in "the bird", and it'll mean he can avoid the ordeal of actually leaving the computer room in order to advance the plot.

I'd think so, but I'd be wrong. :eekdance:

I don't think he'd answer all of his emails on a PDA... Something about that seems like it would get old quick, and the only reason that email worked was because it was so small. Every email he answered would have to be like a line or two long.
