Woah, people think the Chaps do drugs??

They certinatly do NOT, and never will do drugs.

Ideas like the "crazy cartoon" email do not come out of thin air. They where asked to be crazy and creative by the sender. It's just that the Chaps have a cool sense of humour that they will come up with good ideas. It was COMFIRMED on the DVD that Eh! Steve was a doodle one of them made during a meeting. Not by something stupid like drugs.

I know from experience that you can easily create something completely absurd and random without doing drugs - I've made up countless jokes and stories as far out as Crazy Cartoon, only not executed on the same genius level. Drugs might make it so it's more likely you could come up with something crazy if you weren't necessarily trying to, but that doesn't mean you're using them by any means. Supposedly, even Frank Zappa never did drugs.

I really liked this one. ACTUALLY LIKED!!! And I don't like the PlayStations. Did that mean those programmers purposely made that systom bad, just because some people don't like it? Huh? HUH?! Jeez.

Boring for a while, but things start to kick up at the end. "Be's careful", for some reason or other, cracks me up. Strong Sad should really cut the coffee, but that part really wakes you up. Oh yeah, and it was nice to see Pom Pom's girls in the easter egg. Not bad, but it really is boring. They did warn you. It was still rrll rrll good.

Well, that's what makes it funny. Because it's boring.

But they did deliberately make it boring. Seriously, calm down.

This was a pretty good email, for the Lappy saga at least. I was cracking up on the
:sb: "I see"
:hr: "More like, i see"

Despite what you guys say, I thought the Strong Sad appearence part was not really that funny.
Oh well. Nice email.

This episode is pretty good and funny, especially when Strong Bad turns his head slowly. The easter egg with a drawing of Strong Bad as a caveman is based of "Groo the Wanderer", an old Marvel comic book series from the late 80's/early 90's starring a caveman named Groo and his pet dog.

HAHA!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!???

Oh man you people are f-in stupid! Frank Zappa never did drugs. Wow. How do you think he died? The magical sobriety fairy said "God is ready for you". And to all the imbeciles who say "The Brothers Chaps certainly don't do drugs" like you eat lunch with them every tuesday, get over yourselves. This is my oppinion, that TBC are swiggin' beers and smokin' blunts whilst making these toons. Yours may be that they sit amongst angels and posters of McGruff saying "gee I'm sure glad we don't do drugs" but don't say it like you have divine knowledge of the contrary.

Yeah, but I was fighting against it being bad. Does boring = bad? Not in this case.

I was just upset with him saying that TBC purposely made this email bad, just because he didn't like it.

While I don't exactly know what a COMFIRMATION is, I do own the DVD and I did hear them say Eh, Steve! was a sketch, do you honestly think they would come out and say "We were blazed like a ham and trippin' face when we started making sketches for this e-mail."? Doubt it, drugs is illegal. Therefore, admitting to usage without some type of corporate consent would not be in their best interest. 311 can get away with smoking pot on camera, TBC cannot. You fools who think like this will have a very hard time getting through life and are sure to be betrayed by many people. You honestly take things at face value. The lack of something is not a confirmation it isn't there. If they said somewhere in an interview that they do not do drugs, then THAT is coNfirmation that they do not do drugs (or confirmation enough for me at least. There's no shame in doing drugs, so if you day you don't you probably don't).

The big issue here is there is a difference between "creative" ideas, and ideas that reek of marijuana. Homestar, the site as a whole, is a creative idea. The type of nonsense this site is notorious for, however, are ideas that fall nothing short of something two stoners in Georgia would conjure up in their free time. Keep in mind they make a big point of the fact that they do this site for fun, not for the sake of amusing you lunatics. IF they suddenly become bored by Homestar, they'll stop, with no second thought about their fanbase or any possible financial reprocussions. This is their little project that they do to keep themselves amused, it just so happens that it gets them money...money to buy weed, so they can keep making more cartoons, and then make more money. There was a Penny-Arcade comic about this delicate cycle (except PA used alcohol and porn as the gateway).

Take a page out of life and learn fast that people aren't innocent, drugs are out there, they aren't nearly as bad as your television would have you beleive they are. This world would be so incredibly technologically, culturally, and overall disadvanced if it weren't for drugs and alcohol. That Jimi Hendrix CD in your dad's (or yours if you know whats good for you)...drugs. Phish, noted by Rolling Stone to be the "most important band of the 90's"...drugs. Reggae, drugs. Jazz, drugs. Hip-hop, drugs. Wu-Tang Clan, drugs. Video games, drugs. Britney Spears, there aren't enough drugs in the world to make her sound or look good (and that goes for all of these MTV freaks who lack the talent to actually make music...or sing for that matter). Rock, drugs. Elvis, drugs. Albert Einstein, drugs.

Marijuana used to be considered a high society social activity to early western civilizations (but they won't tell you that in school). It was like caviar. Somewhere along the lines, racism came into play, and now drugs are illegal. Stop preaching that drugs are bad, and the world is a clean and innocent place, and TBC don't smoke pot, because you're 110% wrong. Now go to hell.

Theory, you're assuming TBC use drugs just as much as most of us assume that they don't.

If this doesn't end, this topic could get locked and pretty fast, too.

Let them lock it. Limit free speach. Put an end to a discussion. That really makes the forums look like a good place to come and discuss.

Color Printer is exactly right.

As far as this forum is concerned, TBC's work is not drug-influenced. Maybe it is, and you can believe what you want, but we ain't gonna talk about it here.

If you really want to have a discussion about the merits or lack thereof of recreational narcotics, feel free to start a discussion over here, but as of now this thread is back on topic.

I'm just saying this could turn into an all-out flame war.

Anyway, I'd like to post something I didn't before.

It's e-mail that is sent that makes the SBEmail what it is. Because someone sent an e-mail about "boring", you got a "boring" e-mail.
It's like Homestar Hair. If you send crap like that, you're going to get crap.

Thank you for your time.

EDIT: Oops, simul-post.

They did make it bad on purpose. There's no way anyone was falling out of their chair laughing the whole time. It was funny the first 2 seconds, that was it. Then it was painful.

I don't think anyone's arguing against it purposely being made boring. It's obvious that was their intention. But Intentionally making it BAD on purpose and making it BORING on purpose are two entirely different things - dry, boring humor can still be hilarious if done right.

Boring on purpose is just...bad-on-conventional-humor. The lack of conventional humor is what made it funny. If anything, making fun of boredom is funny.

Now that I look back on it, I really like this email. Reminds me of Thing in a Bag, how they can just hang around Strong Badia and take it easy. Has this lazy summer feel to it.
By the way, I'm not sure if it's been posted before. Did anyone notice the relationship between the Pom-Pommed easter egg and the words that trigger it?

:kot: OLD
:homsar: BAG

Homsar said it himself...he's a trendy totebag. Even if he hadn't, well he does sort of look like a bag anyways! And the KOT's an old bloke, of course.
