As the number of sbemails increases, the e-mails tend to fall into specific categories. I'll add to this once I think of more:

VARIATIONS ON A THEME

A theme is given and Strong Bad details several amusing variations on it. This category has produced some classics, but tends to become generic after awhile.

Examples: video games, animal, portrait, highschool

HOW-TO

Strong Bad explains how to do...something. This could be anything from playing the guitar to hosting a radio show.

Examples: dragon, radio, death metal

STORIES

These e-mails tell a story, and many can be seen as "mini-toons". Many see these as the "best" Strong Bad e-mails, although opinions vary.

Examples: labor day, date, caffeine, flashback

NOVELTIES

Just what it says. These e-mails somehow break the tradition. While some may decry the use of "gimmicks" like this, they do provide a breath of fresh air.

Examples: mile, virus

Wouldn't virus fall under story too? I think Personal Favorites would be a better addition to that list.

How about
E-MAILS WHERE HOMESTAR SHOWS UP AND MESSES THINGS UP
Examples include 50 emails, car, stupid stuff, long pants, and to some extent 'Do Over'.

Maybe these are just "stories." Or maybe they should be..like..a subcategory.

Why do we need a separate category for something that's Homestar's bread and butter? Or at least cracker and mustard.

50 e-mails is just...odd. I'd put it under "novelty" for now.
Car, Stupid Stuff, and Long Pants are stories.
Do Over is a novelty.

Some e-mails are definitely multi-category. Like dreamail, for instance. That's a cross between a story e-mail and a variations e-mail, I'd think.
