Marcus woke up to the sound and smell of breakfast cooking. This lovely combination sent the Lizzard rushing to the campfire.

"Mmmm, num num num! Is that all for me?" He asked. "I had a great sleep, I did! I was fighting Ogres and Giants and Elves and monsters and there was this big ol' dragon, big as a mountain! He was tough but I beat 'im! And I was the only one left alive after the battle! Me! Marcus the Brave!" Marcus puffed out his chest.

"Are we going to White Dragon Peak Yet? I-" He stopped and noticed Goldwing up in the tree. "Oh, hi there, birdy! What a beautiful--GYAHH!" The Eagle swooped down and started pecking at Marcus's face for no reason.

"OW-ow-ow-ow-ow--Get offa me, you bag o' feathers! Why, I oughta..."

Acedia emerged from her borrowed tent with a yawn and a stretch. "Morning Marcus, Goldwing," she greeted nonchalantly, walking past them and barely suppressing a giggle. Greeting Maxwell and Thruendel as well, she quietly yoinked a piece of toast, wandering away from the food again with her ill-gotten gains and trying to eat it quietly.

Taryn poked her head out of the tent shortly after her friend exited, took a good look around and then crawled out, getting to her feet once she'd cleared the canvas flap and brushing herself off, looking no worse for wear despite having spent the entire night curled up in the fetal position on the ground.

Andrew woke up from his tent, his dreams were memories of the monastrey, but not good ones.

"I didn't want to remember my first dodging lesson, I was hit hard...damn dream" said Andrew to himself.

He walked to breakfast and got plain slices of toast, "Cereals are an important part of a martial artists diet" whispering to himself again.

<Oi, ugly plot/time kink>
Prosper had gone fallen asleep under the tree, but in the morning found himself in his tent. Confused, he walked grogilly out. "Must've been the pixies." he said to himself.
The smell of food reached his nostrils, and the plesent promise of breakfast it brought woke the boy up fully. He hurried over.
"What's for eats?" he asked pleasently.

<search His Dark Materials or Phillip Pullman> "Barrrr, nom, poj. I think I'm up for regular food. I want to get rid of the memory of that dragon brain" said Tem. He carried his armor out of the tent, into the sun. Hardite is more powerful and... hard in the sunlight, so it was important that Tem kept it clean. "y'know, in retrospect, maybe garbing warriors of a SUBTERRANEAN race in solar-powered armor wasn't a good idea."

Taryn was at the moment completely ignoring the alluring aroma of the breakfast Maxwell had made, since she didn't need to eat and all. Hearing Tem, she turned her head and gave him a very "WTF?" look. "I don't know who you're talking to, but that is the most brilliant thing to come out of your mouth yet, Tem," she remarked.

"I'm not even certain I should tell you" Eruantian responded "I haven't told anyone about the... incident... Not the truth, anyway." Eruantian's past is a series of closely guarded secrets, so he usually tried to think of ways to speak around such topics.

Though there was something about Aurieul that made him want to let it all out. Perhaps it was because she was she had similar racial heritage or because she was also an orphan. He emotionally reasoned that it was time to tell someone. So many secrets had already been revealed, and this person would be sympathetic to at least one more, though another still worried him.

He looked into her eyes and began "I suppose the beginning is as good a place to start as any. Well, during my childhood, my family lived in a farming community a short distance from Targos. That sort of life was fine, I suppose, but I never really felt like I belonged there. One hint supporting that was how the other children ridiculed my pointed ears. I suppose you might know what that is like..." He gestured by sticking his index finger to the tip of his right ear.

"I guess I was lucky, my hair often covered my ears and most kids left me alone. Maybe their parents warned them to leave me be - I'm not sure. But I also grew up not far from Targos. A town called Cardigh." Aurieul decided it would be best to stop there. Eruantian seemed ready to talk; it would be a shame to prevent him from doing so.

<GM's note: Sorry, but you're litteraly dealing with a bird-brain here. She's not going to understand anything you telepath to her, and she can't form words... even in here mind. If you read her mind, you can get a vauge idea about the general things she is thinking about: Hunting, eating, flying, nesting, etc., or if a specific image is in her mind, but that's about it. Also, keep in mind that this is an animal intelegence, not a sentience: The mind is primitive, but strange: Unille anything a telepath would normaly deal with.

By the way, the reason that Goldwing follows Drek around is that she's become bonded to him (It's a nature-magic thing that happens spontaneously to a select few animals, usually only with Rangers or Druids that have spent a lot of time in the wilderness and have therefor become "attuned" to the specific energies involved.)
Goldwing understands Drek's intentions and directions on much the same level that a trained dog understands it's master's wishes, which is to say: She usually gets the intended meaning.
All adult Golden Eagles have large eyes and very sharp eyesight. They can see detail several times better than humans and can spot a rabbit 2km away. Golden eagles feed on medium sized mammals and birds, including rabbits, hares and grouse. If they cannot find these animals they will eat other birds and mammals. They hunt in several different ways. Sometimes they soar high in the sky and then glide or swoop down quickly in attack. They also hunt by flying close to the ground, catching their prey by surprise. They will fly several miles in search of food. Instead of hunting for themselves Golden Eagles will also eat the bodies of dead animals, including deer and sheep, but they seem to prefer live food.>

Unnerved by the human mouth-noises she could perceive but that did not have sound, Goldwing let out a "screeatch" and her head cocked to the side. She rapidly looked around, hopping around on the ground and then jumping up onto a low tree branch. She then started preening at her feathers and shaking her tail a lot.

Tem didn't know if that was normal or not, but he thought that perhaps he had a good idea why Goldwing had been pecking at Marcus. What little he understood from the images he'd gotten back from his telepathic contact with the bird involved small lizards, big Marcus, and yet more small lizards. Tem though that perhaps Goldwing was confused by Marcus... perhaps she's not quite sure what to make of him. Is he a man or is he just a bigger version of the usually little scaly lizards she apparently likes to snack on? Or maybe she likes him and this is her way of saying "hi"? Perhaps she thinks he makes a nice thing to sharpen her claws on? Who knows?

Instantly, Drek knew that something had upset Goldwing... even though he had no idea what had happened and had seen none of what had transpired. He just knew that something was wrong.

Then, as if to get back at Tem, goldwing swooped down on him and smacked him with his wings and swooped back up. "Now I know how Marcus
feels," he said.

<OOC: Please don't control my animal companion.>
Drek held out his arm for Goldwing, and the eagle swooped down and perched. He reached out to comfort her.

"Is everything all right, Goldwing?" Back with Drek, the eagle began to relax. "Maybe you'd like to do some hunting. Go on, get youself some breakfast." Goldwing took off from Drek's arm and began to search for prey.

Acedia had spent the past several minutes just wandering aimlessly around the camp, occasionally stopping by Maxwell and the food and snagging more toast. Of course, after two or so pieces, her canine self desired meeeeat. With nary a word to anyone, she slipped into the underbrush on four paws. While she could not control her perception ability, she had glanced at that patch of underbrush and the word - or more accurately, the concept - 'squirrel' flashed in her mind, accompanied by a brief view of the world from three inches off the ground.

Taryn, meanwhile, had retreated into Acedia's borrowed tent, probably to try and find something to do.

Goldwing took off and went looking for tasty wildlife.

Meanwhile, Farnham had woken up, and he stepped outside of his tent to see Captain Sealem sitting on a log. He had a whetstone wedged in between two metal spikes that were driven into a tree, and he was running the edge of his sword slowly along the face of the whetstone.

<GM's note: A whetstone is a kind of sharpening stone that are lubricated with various kinds of oils (or with water, in which case, it's called a waterstone). It is generally used to hone the edge of the blade and to prevent rusting. Whetstones are usually available in various grades, which refers to the grit size of the particles in the stone. Generally, the finer the grit, the denser the material, which leads to a finer finish of the surface of the tool. Finer grits cut slower because they remove less material. Only someone trained in the proper technical skills involved can safely use a whetstone without ruining the blade or producing an uneven or dulled edge.>

"Ah, good morning, Captain." said Farnham. "I see my brother was up early. Are those eggs I smell?"

The Captain nodded and said: "Smells like it. Marcus and Quinn have already been up there, and I think Acedia as well. Go on ahead, I'm almost done here."
