Maxwell explained the situation to Coren: "... and that's why we're off to White Dragon Peak. We need to get Eruntian's magic Ring back. We'll probably end up fighting some enemies along the way, too. It's probably going to be dangerous. Are you sure you want to join with us?" |

"Definitely! I'll need the experience and maybe after this some of you can help me. You see I'm the not-so-legitimate son of the king of the Kingdom of Felix. I have two older half-brothers, or more appropriately had two older half-brothers. They got killed in the war which, I presume, is over. All I have to remember anything by are these." he reached in his pack and pulled out some things wrapped in a cloth. Then he took the cloth off. It was a book, two scrolls, and a folded flag." These books are important to him. One is The Holy Book and outlines everything in the religion he believes in. The other is a scroll of five prayers that do things such as protect him from magic and whatnot. The flag is the flag of his country. He gently held it up, it was a navy blue pennant (triangle flag) that had only these words on it: Equa la Felix. Last but not least is the scroll that is proof that he is the heir to the throne of Felix. It basically says, more or less, in frilly language that he is heir to the throne of Felix and it is signed by, presumably, his father. He gently put it all away and thanked both of them for letting him into their adventure. He sat down beside Prosper and made himself some eggs (cats always like to do things for themselves, especially when it comes to getting and preparing the necessities in life). He directed his attention to Prosper. "So what's your name? Mine's Coren Felus." He held out his paw presumably for Prosper to shake it. Edit: Here's the prayers in the scroll. The power of these prayers come from unknown origins, presumably his god: 1: Demon Defense- This defends him from anything of demonic or dark origin (dark spells and stuff) for a small period of time. It can be broken if the caster is moderately strong. 2: Strength Boost- This gives him a short period of enhanced strength. 3: Shield of Mana- This makes him glow for a short period of time. He really doesn't know what it does, but it has to shield him from something, right? 4: Life Energy- This gives him a short period of boosted energy leaving him more or less exhausted afterwards. 5: Death of Light: This spell allows him to kill someone that he directs it at, no matter how powerful. The bad part is the his life force is used to extract the opponents effectively making it suicide. Note: All of the prayers are long and must be recited in a knelt prayer position making them virtually useless in the heat of battle. Furthermore, they are too long and in too foreign of a language to be memorized without intense study. |

Prosper took the hand and shook. "Prosper. Nice to meet you." The young boy couldn't think of anything else to say, seeing as he had just gotten Corren's life story, and he didn't feel like relating his. So he sat and decided that he would let his new companion continue the conversation. |

"So how long have you been with this band of gallant warriors? You seem like a nice fellow." He yawned really wide like all cats do from time to time. [OOC]It's actually pretty funny looking.[/OOC] "Well I need a catnap." He walked off leaving a few small pieces of the food he prepared and curled up next to a bush. A good thing to note is that cats can be awakened easily when in a catnap and that's most of what they do in their free time. Cats only have about as much deep sleep as humans, but many sleep up to 18 hours with all but some of those hours being a very light, broken up sleep. |

He yawned in that funny cat way of his. "Okay." He picked up his pack. "Does anybody need help? 'Cause if not I'm gonna go an- *hack* *cough* *hack*." Coren went into a coughing fit, well, fit for a king or something like that. He was kneeling on the ground as a large ball of hair and some amount of his breakfast came up. He got up and said, "Well, um, uh. I think I'll sit down. Tell me when we're ready to go." |

Quinn, who had somehow missed the specticle that was the entrance of Coren, took his tent down, packed it up, and put it in Horin's wagon. Quinn then said to maxwell, "How exactly are we getting the wagon to where we're getting treewalked to? by the sound of it, a wagon couldn't use tree walking." |

[OOC] Here are some things I've thought up: [/OOC] An outline of Felix: The Kingdom of Felix is a small kingdom (at least compared to most other countries). It sits on the northern-most coast of the huge island of Savagila which is many leagues west of the Pirate Islands with it's lands bordered by wilderness. It has been ruled by the Felus royal family of the Persial tribe for 8 generations. Originally it was a pure monarchy, but recently Felus the 8th (Coren's father) allowed for an elected Parliament with him as the chairman, the first of it's kind. Most recently there was a plan to takeover the savage lands of Savagila (effectively making the name Felix-Savagila), but an uprising of large parts of the lizard person population (the second most numerous race although it is growing rapidly) fueled mostly by hatred of the draft and a feeling that they are superior to the felines has rendered the parliamentary-monarchy useless. Currently there is anarchy and battles are continuously raging. Coren left during the first year of this war when he was around 10 so that makes the war 7 years old and still raging. [OOC] Sarge, I hope you'll let me have this, if not I can always turn my character into a a beggar or something that stole the sword, I mean, if the Kingdom doesn't exist. If you have any better ideas please say so. Otherwise, if you don't approve I won't make a ruckus.[/OOC] |

But I will put in the following caveats: Up until now, Savagila has been unknown to nearly everyone outside of the confines of that island. Present company excepted, only the Arch-Wizzard of Suldeneselar knows about it.... and even he consideres it to be a myth. The island was known to the Elves before the Great Cataclysm, (and they even had a colony there) but in the long centuries on their civilization's decline the Elves mostly forgot about that island and knowledge of it was lost. It is unclear how the Lizzardmen who inhabit the Lizzardmen Kingdom to the East of Skara Brae are related to the Lizardmen of Savagila, but they appear to be of the same race.> Maxwell said: "Sorry, geography was never my best subject: You're from where, again?" |

Eruantian then tried to grab a wooden bucket to splash water on the flame, but that too had been consumed by blue fire in his hands. Eruantian, figuring out that it must have been the ring, slowly and nervously tried to take the ring off, thinking that he might just set himself on fire. Much to his surprise, his left hand did not combust. Just as he thought he can finally do something to help, the house caved in and the flames intensified. All hope of helping his parents was then dashed. *Ominous LOST flash-forward sound* "They didn't make it... *sniff* It was all my fault..." Eruantian cried as long and hard as humanly(or possibly elvenly) possible. C.S.Lewis wrote: Crying is alright in its way while it lasts. But you have to stop sooner or later, and you still have to decide what to do. Eruantian decided to tell the rest of his story.
"I was ashamed of myself" he admitted "Ashamed of what I was and of what I had done. All I had left was that ring, much like when we left Targos. I had not shown it to anyone since then. I did not even wear it for years." "I followed a caravan to Targos, which is where I lived ever since" Eruantian recalled the events after the incident "Sam, the bartender, was kind enough to give me a job in the kitchen. For years, he was like a father to me. He didn't know it, but was thanks to his cooking and catering lessons that I eventually found a practical use for the ring." "Everything I had known was gone, so I looked to the unknown" Eruantian stated nostalgically "I learned elvish and I studied as much about Suldeneselar as possible. I even studied myths of Arctic Elves from the coldest mountains of the elvish empire, who I thought to be my real ancestors. Books are expensive and hard to come by, but I didn't care; I had to know." "And then all of this happened" Eruantian remarked in aggitation "Everything was taken away from me again. I never knew my real parents, I killed my adoptive parents, the life I built for myself in Targos burned down, and the two decades I lived in the ring's arctic realm never happened. In any and every case, the ring was all that survived." Eruantian came to a realization. He stood and pondered "Perhaps... Perhaps such is my lot in life... Yes, I realize now that my life is unimportant. The reason why I can't make a life for myself, why it was all taken away again and again, is because it's not about me. It all revolves around the ring." Eruantian grimly determined "It's time I stopped hiding in some house, living a fantasy, or moping around due to my losses. When I get the ring back, I won't rest until the Drow are stopped, even if it kills me. I have nothing left, so I have nothing to lose; nothing to live for." Edited: Accidentally left out a word. |
