Prosper stopped awing at he chasem and sat down becide Acedia. Not knowing what else to do, he started to examine his amulet. It apperently did more than what he previously thought, and he wondered what other powers it had hidden away. He suddenly had an idea! Ask the mage!
"Michael?" he called. "My amulet kept me from falling when the hole opened up, it floated me in the air. And later, when the Umber Hulk came up it didn't notice me, even though I was right in front of it. Why? I was told that the amulet kept me safe from drowish magic only."
<GM's Notes & Explanations: The locked door that Chezzo mentioned isn't directly accessible from either of the two levels that various party member are on. It's in a section of the mine that none of the party members have been in yet: Specificly, when you enter the mine shaft from the main entrace (from the surface) and then enter the first large cavern, there's a brnach to the right that leads to the interrogation room (where Auriel was first brought to when she was captured), and three other branches directly ahead. Of these three branches, one leads to the hole that the Umber Hulk made, one leads down, and there's one other. The one that leads down eventually leads to the locked door that Chezzo mentioned.
As for the outcropping of rock that Prosper and company are standing on, there is no door apparent, but there is a narrow ledge that follows the cavern wall as it spirals down. It's only about a foot wide, and it doesn't look like it could support much weight. Also, the ledge is broken in places and in other places it looks like it's about to collapse. Looking over the side, one can see other doors built into the side of the cavern, which open to outcroppings of rock similar to the one that Prosper and company are on.
Oh, and Droideka: You can cast the healing and defense spells you know at any time, regardless of if your prayed for them the night before or not It's part of your Ethos as a cleric of Gorm Gulthyn. The list I sent you was the list of spells that you know. If the spell has either Healing or Defense in brackets beside it, you always are able to cast that spell. (If you're not too fatiuged, that is). Unlike Mages and Sorcerers, Cleric can rid themselves of Spellcasting Fatuige by finding a place conducive for quiet contemplation where they can pray and meditate. At the higer levels, clerics can find ways to constantly be in a state of meditation and paryer while still being able to cast their spells and act normaly (Horin hasn't learned how to do that yet, though). Mages always have to rest (usually by sleeping) to rid themselves of spellcasting fatiuge.>
Micheal said to Prosper: "Really? Then, perhaps the Umber Hulk was under a Drowish spell, and the amulet protected you because you were close to the target of a drowish spell. I'm really just giving it and educated guess, though; Not being a Talismonger, I really can't say for sure why your amulet does what it does. What's worrying is that if my supposition is true, it would likely mean there's a Drow magician around here. I don't see any magic-user activity in Astral Space, except for my own and Horin's.. still, there's plenty of ways to hide from astral detection, especially underground. He could easily be hiding... plenty of rock around here to hide behind, and I can't see through rock even in Astral space. I'll keep one eye on the Astral, though. Thanks for the heads-up."
Drek moved his head and mumbled something about sand... and then his body twitched slightly and he came to. He raised himself up on all fours and extracted his leggs from the pile of sand.
|<soto voice>|"Ouagh I feel aufull... and hurts to talk... gah... and I've got sand all over my face."
Micheal said: "Easy, buddy. You took quite spill. Frankly, I'm surprised you're still in one piece. You're lucky you just banged your head, you could have broken your neck. You sure you don't have horseshoe embedded in you somewhere?"
Drek smiled a bit and said: "Well, I certainly feel like someone took a horseshoe to my head, with the horse still attached. Where are we, anyways?"
