<OOC> For future reference, here's the spells that I have chosen (If I screw this up, tell me) +Cure Moderate Wounds (Conjuration (Healing)) This spell functions exactly like Cure Light Wounds, except that it can heal more per casting than Cure Light Wounds can. +Sanctuary(Warding/Abjuration, Neutrality): Any opponent attempting to strike or otherwise directly attack the targeted (warded) creature, even with a targeted spell, can't follow through with the attack, that part of its action is undone, and it can't directly attack the warded creature for the duration of the spell. Those not attempting to attack the subject remain unaffected. This spell does not prevent the warded creature from being attacked or affected by area-effect spells or spell-like abilities that do not involve a direct attack. The warded subject cannot attack without breaking the spell but may use non-attack spells or otherwise act and/or move about normally. To sustain this spell, the caster must continue to recite the appropriate holy words, therefore this is an exclusive-action spell. Once the spell is cast on the cosen target, the caster need not maintain line of sight with his warded subject, even if he intends to keep sustaining it. The caster may freely use his hands while sustaining this spell as the spell does not have a gesture or signing component to it's sustainment. Therefore, the cleric who is sustaining this spell may melee with other targets and not break the spell so long as he was not warding himself by means of this spell. A Planar Disjunction can effectively break this spell if cast on the warded target. +Orison's Hammer(Evocation/Summoning, Combat): This spell calls forth a bright, burning hammer-shaped field of force from the Plane Of Brilliance that falls from the sky and strikes the caster's intended target. The caster cannot sustain this spell, it's effects are instant. this spell will work indoors, despite the fact that the hammer will appear high in the sky before flying to it's target (it will simply smash through the roof it it has to.) When cast underground the spell will burst though the ground but will never cause a cave-in or a landslide. The caster does receive a moderate amount of fatigue from casting this spell. </OOC> Horin thought of something that might work. "Would anyone happen to know how to make a net?" He asked. "Or maybe something to put the birdy to sleep?" |

"Okay, already on it!" yelled up Tem. He sat down on the ground, and Etherealized. Then he went up to Goldwing, and boxed its ears, which made her immediately fall asleep. |

{ ANIMAL ABUSE >.> Plus if Tem's ethereal, he can't touch anything. o_O } Taryn heard Chezzo say something about furniture and wooden planks, and went over to him to find out where this convenient stash of potential splints was hiding. Acedia had taken to humming softly, just to reassure herself of her own consciousness - the abyssal blackness really messes with one's perception and sense of existing. The tune was an old nursery rhyme. |

Prosper stopped awing at he chasem and sat down becide Acedia. Not knowing what else to do, he started to examine his amulet. It apperently did more than what he previously thought, and he wondered what other powers it had hidden away. He suddenly had an idea! Ask the mage! "Michael?" he called. "My amulet kept me from falling when the hole opened up, it floated me in the air. And later, when the Umber Hulk came up it didn't notice me, even though I was right in front of it. Why? I was told that the amulet kept me safe from drowish magic only." <GM's Notes & Explanations: The locked door that Chezzo mentioned isn't directly accessible from either of the two levels that various party member are on. It's in a section of the mine that none of the party members have been in yet: Specificly, when you enter the mine shaft from the main entrace (from the surface) and then enter the first large cavern, there's a brnach to the right that leads to the interrogation room (where Auriel was first brought to when she was captured), and three other branches directly ahead. Of these three branches, one leads to the hole that the Umber Hulk made, one leads down, and there's one other. The one that leads down eventually leads to the locked door that Chezzo mentioned. As for the outcropping of rock that Prosper and company are standing on, there is no door apparent, but there is a narrow ledge that follows the cavern wall as it spirals down. It's only about a foot wide, and it doesn't look like it could support much weight. Also, the ledge is broken in places and in other places it looks like it's about to collapse. Looking over the side, one can see other doors built into the side of the cavern, which open to outcroppings of rock similar to the one that Prosper and company are on. Oh, and Droideka: You can cast the healing and defense spells you know at any time, regardless of if your prayed for them the night before or not It's part of your Ethos as a cleric of Gorm Gulthyn. The list I sent you was the list of spells that you know. If the spell has either Healing or Defense in brackets beside it, you always are able to cast that spell. (If you're not too fatiuged, that is). Unlike Mages and Sorcerers, Cleric can rid themselves of Spellcasting Fatuige by finding a place conducive for quiet contemplation where they can pray and meditate. At the higer levels, clerics can find ways to constantly be in a state of meditation and paryer while still being able to cast their spells and act normaly (Horin hasn't learned how to do that yet, though). Mages always have to rest (usually by sleeping) to rid themselves of spellcasting fatiuge.> Micheal said to Prosper: "Really? Then, perhaps the Umber Hulk was under a Drowish spell, and the amulet protected you because you were close to the target of a drowish spell. I'm really just giving it and educated guess, though; Not being a Talismonger, I really can't say for sure why your amulet does what it does. What's worrying is that if my supposition is true, it would likely mean there's a Drow magician around here. I don't see any magic-user activity in Astral Space, except for my own and Horin's.. still, there's plenty of ways to hide from astral detection, especially underground. He could easily be hiding... plenty of rock around here to hide behind, and I can't see through rock even in Astral space. I'll keep one eye on the Astral, though. Thanks for the heads-up." Drek moved his head and mumbled something about sand... and then his body twitched slightly and he came to. He raised himself up on all fours and extracted his leggs from the pile of sand. |<soto voice>|"Ouagh I feel aufull... and hurts to talk... gah... and I've got sand all over my face." Micheal said: "Easy, buddy. You took quite spill. Frankly, I'm surprised you're still in one piece. You're lucky you just banged your head, you could have broken your neck. You sure you don't have horseshoe embedded in you somewhere?" Drek smiled a bit and said: "Well, I certainly feel like someone took a horseshoe to my head, with the horse still attached. Where are we, anyways?" |

Micheal held up a finger, cast Flaming Finger, and yelled up: "I can make both water and fire, remember? Just be sure to send a kettle or a pot down so I have something to heat it up in, Maxwell." Maxwell said: "Right... let's see.... well, here's a copper kettle. Send that down, Farnham. Um... and there's a bunch of bottles and jars and bundles of herbs and stuff here... one of these must be the Dreklika root but.. I can't read any of these labels. They're all in Dwarvish. Hey, Horin, what does this Drekkila root look like?" Farnham tied the kettle to the end of the rope and lowered it down with help from Marcus. <GM's Illustration: Looks like this, but with Dwarven runes inscribed around the neck of the pot:
The copper thing underneath it is a braisier where you would put hot coals or burning tinder, but Horin doesn't have one of those, so ignore that bit. |

{ DDD: } Taryn eventually managed to find some wood suitable for use as a splint, and made her way back down into the pit with it. It didn't come from the Ogre Mage's chamber, though. Just kind of a random pile off to the side of a tunnel somewhere. Mostly because she utterly failed to find her way to said chamber. Acedia, in the meantime, had let herself fall asleep, and very quickly after that slipped into unconsciousness. { also, as a side note, that's the best emoticon ever. xD } |

Horin grabbed the pot and set it down off to the side. He then motioned for Michael to work his magic. "It looks somewhat like ginger, but the smell is quite different." He shouted up. |

"Uh," said Prosper. "No problem. Thanks." he sighed. He'd probably have to find out the hard way, oh well, as long as he found out. Prosper saw that Acedia had lasped into unconsiousness. With a start he ran to her and checked her pulse, something he'd learned about on the streets. Good, she was still alive. |

Acedia moved slightly - good, she was at least not totally unconscious anymore. She remained asleep, though, taking slow, even breaths. Taryn arrived at the pit and delicately floated back down with the wood, setting it down unceremoniously in a heap next to Acedia, who visibly twitched at the sound and sudden, gentle light on her face. "I don't know how to properly apply a splint," she said after landing, "nor do I know what needs splinted on Acedia, or I'd do it. Where's Horin?" she asked, addressing Prosper because he was there. |

Micheal took the lid off the pot and cast Create Water into it. With a small twinkle of light and bit of a sloshing sound, the pot was instantly filled with fresh cold water. Then, he took three rocks of about the same size (each one weighed about a 10 pounds, measuring about three feet across) and rolled them together so they were all touching. <Sort of like this, only with them all closer together: > Micheal put the pot on top of the pile of rocks and put his finger under it. Then, He cast Flaming Finger and held his finger there. "I can get it to boil in about five or six minutes, Horin." Maxwelll called down "OK, I think I found it, Horin. I'll put it in bag and send it down." Drek rummaged around in his backpack, emerging from it with a tin cup. "Here, Horin. My teacup." Meanwhile, Captain Sealem rolled over, regained consciousness, and opened his eyes. He looked around: "Ah, Horin. I see you've been working your healing magic again. Senahta, peldar tre'l akot." <Gm's note: Senahta, peldar tre'l akot. is a Dwarvish phrase that loosely translated means: "Honor to your clan, friend." It is a formal, traditional message of thanks for performing a service of great significance or value to the person saying the phrase. The only reason Sealem knows it is because during his time as a servant of the Emperor, all of the Emperor's bodyguards were trained in the basic phrases and cultural etiquette of the different races with ambassadors at court, so as to help ensure that the bodyguards would not inadvertently give offense or commit a faux-pas. Captain Sealem does not actually speak or understand Dwarvish, he just knows a handful of phrases in it.> |

The Lizzardman was quickly growing bored of all this waiting. "Mister Maxwell, can't I just go down there and carry them up on my back? My claws can dig through this rock."
