Andrew was guarding the knocked out elven swordsman, feeling that they are in more need of his protection than the group is in need of his aid (although due to distance he doesn't know what is currently happening to the party). He was in a very calm manner but still had sharp senses (although his lack of darkvision has hindered his sight).

Heh, usually moments like this is when exotic events pop-up...maybe I shouldn't have thought that, I could Jinx myself.

<OOC: You know how I realised Marcus got an electric shock, Sarge still says I'm in the pit so it is not canon but his weird reflective thoughts still are.>

Andrew sensed movement at the edge of the ledge... something small, furry, and four-legged was moving out there.

Marcus's eyes glimmered when he saw the fancy jewelry Eruantian had snagged. His maw opened for a split second, revealing a seemingly endless cave of teeth whose color was somewhere between white, gray, and brown.

Suddenly the Lizzard's maw shrunk to half the size of a penny as he slowly crept up behind Eruantian. "It's...it's...it's...it's a...itsa....itsa...

SHINYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!" With a hungry snarl, Marcus leapt onto Eruantian in a spectacular glomping motion, his tail whipping about in the air. He licked his chops as his claws came in contact with the pretty shinies. Or shiny pretties, whatever.

Marcus tumbled head-over-tail and landed on his back, cradling the bands in his claws like precious eggs. He began a strange sort of purr common among happy and sleeping Lizzardfolk. Its sound is difficult to reproduce in text, although if you say "mmmmmraaaawwwwwwrrrrrrm" with a lot of phlegm in your throat, you can get pretty close. Marcus hadn't made a sound like that since he stuffed himself after defeating the Red Dragon.

"What? AAAAAAAAGH! GET IT OFF ME!" Eruantian screamed as he was suddenly attacked by the deranged talking lizard. When Eruantian looked up and saw the rings in Marcus' scaled clutches, Eruantian was filled with the utter rage. "Those rings are mine! My own!" He shouted as he cast a tight cone of arctic blast into Marcus' gaping throat.

[GM's explanation: A full-grown male Ogre varies in height from about six to nine feet tall, eight feet being typical of the species. Width at the shoulder varies less, with the typical full-grown male Ogre averaging somewhere between 4 ½ to 5 feet across at the shoulders. A adult male Ogre who is in good shape will probably be 2 feet thick at the midsection. Aclabar was 7 ½ feet tall and 5 ¾ feet wide, and a little over 2 feet thick at the midsection (he was somewhat overweight and out of shape for an Ogre his age, so that midsection thickness is due to his pot-belly.) His jacket is apropiately sized to fit his girth.

The rings are, of course, magical. They'll re-size themselves to fit the finger of whoever puts one on. If they'll actually work for anyone who puts them on... well, that remains to be seen, doesn't it?

The dagger he had in his boot has a double-edged steel blade that is seven inches long, mounted on a 5 ½ inch long hardwood handle that has a oval cross-section measuring 3 ½ by 2 ¾ inches. The rest of the items are all either Human or Elven in origin (or Gnomish, in the case of the collapsible spyglass); He looted these from various unfortunate victims over the years.]

Captain Sealem slapped his forehead and said: "Gods preserve us, here we go again." in Elvish. Then he drew himself up, stood next to Marcus and said "Mister Marcus, what do you think you're doing? Control yourself man! On your feet! Stand at attention! Quickly now. I will have discipline in this platoon, discipline I say!"

From out in the hall, Taryn poked her head into the room. "How's it going in there?" she inquired, even as she was up to her elbow rummaging around in her little pouch. As if she could make it more obvious that that little bag is much bigger on the inside than it is on the outside, considering that it's a little square leather pouch, about five or six inches on a side.

Acedia was leaned up against the wall.

"GAAAAAAAAAAAKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!", gurgled Marcus as the oversized non-flavored ice pop filled his throat and knocked him on his scaly tail, but not before the flail on said tail whipped around and smacked the Captain clear in the belly.

It was official: Marcus was in deep shiznit. Not even Tem's gleaming distraction could get the Lizzard's attention. With a four-foot long stalagmite protruding from his throat as he lay on the floor of the Underdark, Marcus was...out cold.

"Allow me to relieve you of those" Eruantian said as he took the rings from Marcus' claws and placed them on his golden chain necklace. "My precious" Eruantian uttered under his breath.

Snapping out of the ring-related obsession, Eruantian was faced with the dilemma of carrying the ogre mage's equipment. The had only two pockets, which were already filled with what few coins(5 gold, 17 silver) he had recovered from the umberhulk corpse, the parchment from the Deputy Commisoner for Lost Artifacts, and Horin's Herbal Chewy. If only he had more pockets...

Aclabar had plenty of pockets, though the jacket was unfortunately the size of a tent. "It's a shame" Eruantian thought to himself "If only I were a tailor... Wait... Eureka!"

Eruantian did not have any skills as a tailor, though he did have a tailor's tool hand: The iron scissors. He could cut the area around the pockets off of Aclabar's jacket and use them as handy sacks. He grabbed the scissors and got to work, hoping both the ogre's concussion and the lizard's brain freeze would last long enough for him to finish.

As Andrew took a closer look, from the shadows a shape emerged. It was a large spider, a very large spider. About the size of a dog! And it was climbing down the wall.

Chezzo said to Eruantian: "You know, one of those keys you took of Aclabar might open the lock on that Chest we were looking at earlier... the one with all the traps and magic stuff protecting it. It would be just like Aclabar to keep something really important locked up in a locked chest in behind a big locked door."

Farnham said: "How long did he have you transformed into a bird anyways, Chezzo?"

"Chezzo said: "I'm not sure, really. We were underground all the time, so without the rising and the setting of the sun to mark your days, you kind of loose track of time. I'd really like to get back to my dad's farm soon, if it's still there, that is."

Farnham said: "That's understandable. Whereabouts was it?"

Chezzo said: "About a mile north of Nevilshire Castle, on the main road to Sawtooth Bay."

Farnham nodded: "Oh, you don't say. I think I know where you mean. That's not far from my home town of Glenarbour. Been up to Nevilshire Castle once or twice myself, actually."

Chezzo shrugged and said: "Heh.. whaddya know.. small world."

Farnham continued: "Yeah, your dad's farm should still be there, but that's a long way from here. I mean, we're at the foothills of White Dragon Peak here."

Chezzo said: "I know... But if you can come all the way from Glenarbour to kill some monsters, I can travel all that way to get home."

Farnham said: "By yourself? Oh, I don't think that's wise. You'd just get abducted again.. or worse. It's far too dangerous for you to go by yourself. However... I know a Druid who might be able to get you home. He lives in the forest near here, and I wanna go talk to him anyways. See if he can't transport us to Squiddy Man Mountain. Maybe he can transport you home to your farm."

Chezzo's face lit up: "Really? Wow, that's be great, Mister Farnham. I wasn't looking forward to walking all that way."

Captain Sealem said: "A sound plan. Once everyone has healed enough to journey onwards again, we will make for the forest and try to contact Thurendel again. First, though, we must dispose of this treacherous Ogre. I do not believe he has information that would be of any further use to us."

Maria said: "It would be justice to see him dead, and Tyr would be satisfied with his execution. His crimes deserve a punishment of death many times over."

Farnham said: "I'm not a magistrate or a scribe of the laws or anything, but I'll just bet there's a bounty on the Ogre's head the size of White Dragon Peak. I mean, he was raising an army of Bugbears out here... and he's in leauge with the Drow. Doesn't that mean that he's at war with Skarae Brae? Besides, he sent the Bugbears to try and kill us... and just a few minutes ago he nearly killed my brother. What more justification do we need? Somebody cut his head off or I will!"

"MMMmmmrrrrrmmMMM!" Marcus wanted to cut off the Ogre-Mage's head more than Farnham. It was an easier job for a Lizzardman than a Human. Too bad he had this huge cone of ice [let's just say it was ice, Sommy] sticking out of his mouth. Marcus began clawing at the giant icicle, whipping around his tail and trying to get the others to help him.

Pretty soon the ice cone was covered in two-foot-long claw marks from the poor Lizzard's thrashing.

[OOC: Um, I'm pretty sure the Captain would have been injured from Marcus's tail flail. That thing is not nice.]

Taryn caught Tem's shiny and pocketed it without thinking. Then she picked up Acedia (for the sake of not leaving her alone in the hall) and entered the chamber. "I can melt that ice for you, Marcus, if you'd lie still for a minute," she offered, approaching the Lizzardboy cautiously.

"She won't hesitate to kill you if you hit her with that flail," Acedia clarified. "I saw her disembowel a man for brushing past her once."

"I was a very angry young woman at the time, Acedia. No need to scare the lad." There's irony here in that Taryn calls herself young. Acedia didn't exist when Taryn was anything that could be described as "young," having passed 600 years old fairly recently. Taryn carefully set Acedia down on a safe patch of ground and then waited for Marcus to signal that he would accept her help by ceasing to flail. If he wanted to kill the icy menace on his own, she'd let him. Less work for Taryn that way, after all.

Taryn shrugged and crossed the remaining six or seven feet between herself and the no-longer-flailing reptile and placed a hand on the ice spike. Immediately it began to melt, and with the addition of another hand, the ice was down to a crunchable size within about two minutes. Taryn picked up the spike and played with it until it melted completely in her hands, and then picked Acedia up again, keeping the girl floating at her side while she went back to rummaging through her bag for that chair-on-wheels she said she had. This would make one less person Horin had to worry about healing until they were safely out of the mine.

Drek notched his bow and said: "I see it, Andrew. I'm not familiar with that specics. It's not something I've seen before. Be careful... don't provoke it. maybe if we leave it alone it won't attack."

But then another giant spider crawled up over the ledge of the outcroping of rock they were standing on, and then another... and another. Soon, there were six giant spiders milling about on one side of the cavern. Drek draged the unconscious elven swordsman away from the spiders, and said: "You know what I was saying about the spider perhaps not attacking? I'm starting to re-think that whole concept here. This doesn't look good."

[GM's ruling: Tem is NOT in the pit with the spiders. No indication was given as to how he got back in the pit or how he knew about the spiders, so I'm ruling that Tem's last remarks never happened. And please, 10Ten: Try to remember where your character is and what's going on in the game, alright? However, your guess that there's a Drow/Spider connection was a good one. You get brownie points for knowing your lore: The Drow worship Lloth/Lillith (she's known by many names across the Realms) and she's a spider-like being. Wait until you mean the Driders... the connection will become quite clear then.]

Drek swallowed hard as yet more spiders came over the edge of the outcropping of rock they were standing on.. and these were even bigger than before. "Micheal, please tell me these things are just illusions and that you can dispel them with a wave of your hand"
Micheal shook his head: "Sorry but they're quite real. I can see a odd sort of magic intertwined into their Auras, but it's like nothing I've even seen before. I have no idea what sort of magic that is... it's like they're not even from this dimension or something like that. Get ready to move that elven soldier of Captain Sealem's up the rope any way you can. I'm gonna use a Colorspray on the spiders... hopefully it will daze them long enough for us to get everyone out of here. Now shut your eyes and don't look at it or you'll be affected too!"

Micheal quickly cast Bigby's Protective Manipulation (so he wound't be affected by his own spellcasting) and then, as soon as he confirmed that everyone else had their eyes shut, he cast Colorspray at the spiders.

"Alright, it worked. You can open your eyes now. Now let's get out of here before they come to their senses."

Eruantian was not about to give a greedy little sack of scales permission to rummage his sticky claws through his well-deserved spoils. So far, Marcus had given Eruantian no reason to trust him and every reason not to.
