"Yes sir, that is true," said Prosper. He had found a sharp edged stone and was cutting his way through slowly.
"Can you tell me where we are or anything about who has captured us?"

Shamus nodded and said: "I can tell you what I know, aye. To start with, I'm a miner by trade. My companions and I were sent to Glenarbor to trade for various wares, but we were intercepted by a band of mercenaries. We battled them, but we were outnumbered and overpowered. I was the only one they didn't kill. They would have killed me too, but they said their masters needed me for something. Then they chained me in this hole and here I've been ever since. I don't know how long I've been here.
A few days ago they tossed a Gnome in here, then an Elf, and now you. I fully expect that we'll see a member of some other race join us if we don't escape. They beat the Gnome to death for pissing on a guard, but the Elf escaped by using his Magic just before they threw you in here. He was Anamora Advoratrelundar, a Mage of Suldeneselar, and he teleported out of here. Said he couldn't take me with him becasue his spells were not powerfull enough to teleport two men through solid rock, but he promised to return with more men. Now, I see you're sawing through your bond. Quickly lad, before they come back with chains for you. Get yourself free. There's a set of pins hidden in my beard. I can't reach them chained up like this, but if you can get free, they can pick the locks that bind my chains!"

Aurieul clenched the dagger in her hand, glad she hadn't given it back to Tem yet. Cautiously she followed Drek into the darkening wood.

Prosper got through his bonds. Working fast, he went to Shamus, and used the pins to pick the lock. All this took about 3 minutes.
"Shamus, which way? I was unconcious when I came here. Oh, and I'm Prosper."

Maxwell, Drek and Auriel proceeded into the woods.

Drek was an experienced hunter, since that was what he did to put food on the table before he became an adventurer. Part of being a hunter that doesn't stave is learning to read the signs of activity that people leave behind when they move through the woods. Well, Drek didn't starve as a hunter. He'd learned his profession well enough that he could read the signs that these woods presented to him. Bent branches, footprints, and other tell-tale signs told Drek of the recent passage of two sets of people. The first two were human (or at least had human-type feet.) The second two were elven.. possibly Drow, but also possibly just Elvish.

Shamus said: "Only one way out of here, but it's bolted shut from the other side. We need to wait for..."
Shamus didn't finish his sentence, for there was a rattling noise like a key moving in a key-chain from the other side of the bolted door.
Shamus whispered under his breath: "They're gonna open the door... make like you're asleep! My locks are undone, but I'll keep them on to fool them into thinking I'm still chained up... they'll fall off if I move quickly. That should give us the element of surprise."

The bolt in the door started to move, and Prosper knew he had to do as Shamus said. He just hoped that Elven mage showed up soon to rescue them.

Prosper did as he was told. The door opened. Two gnome gaurds came in. Prosper was confused, hadn't a gnome been prisoner here? Then he saw something in the gaurds' eyes, fear. As if they didn't want to be here, and they were just following orders. Their eyes scanned the room.

The guards advaned on Prosper, not paying attention to Shamus the Dawrf who they thought was still chained up. Shamus leap up and flung the chains up around one of the guards, looping it around the Gnome's neck.
"Gurgle" was all the Gnome was heard to utter. His hands went up to his neck, and Shamus batted the other Gnome to the ground with his free hand.
"Ye should have known better than te think these puny chains could hold the mighty arms of Shamus Kaeirin! Yearr!" Shamus was obviously trying to intimidate the guards with a show of strength, as if he's broken free of the chains all by himself. It was working, for neither guard put up any resistance.
The gnome that Shamus didn't have wraped in chains said "We surrender. Here, you can take the keys if you promise to let us escape with you."
Shamus said "What are ye babbling about, Gnome?"
The Gnome got to his knees and said: "Please, let me explain. We're slaves in this dungeon. We never wanted to come here, but now we have no choice. The Drow make us chain the new prisoners and clean and do all sorts of menial jobs. They keep us here with magic barriers that won't let us leave, and we can't get any food except what they give us. If a slave doesn't do as he's told, they just kill him with their magic or lock him up and never feed him. I don't wanna work for them, but what choice do I have?
There's all sorts of slaves here, but you two aren't like us slaves. The barrier won't stop you. See, they brought you here 'casue their gods tell them that you guys are special somehow. Once they get all six special people together, they're gonna do some sort of ritual. Don't know what that involves, but you can bet it ain't gonna be good. We can show you how to escape, but you'll have to get past the Drow who guard the exits. Uh, hey... weren't there three of you before? What happened to the Elf?"

He didn't know if he should say anything about the elf, so he kept his mouth shut on that issue.

Meanwhile, as Xander lain unconcious in the river...

A vivid memory went through his mind. There was a man with a knife. A little boy was at the top of the stairs looking down at two adults. The man with the knife busted open the door. One of the adults screamed. The man stepped forward and raised his knife....

"Xander...." a voice called out. "Do you remember this Xander?"

The memory stopped.

"No...no..." Xander called, slowly regaining conciousness.

"You will, Xander."

"Xander! Xander! Xander!" the voice called out again.

At this moment, Xander opened his eyes. He was no longer knocked out. It turns out his friends were the ones calling his name.

Xander stood up and picked up his crossbow. He stepped out of the river and stumbled a bit.

"Who is the dead man that had the nerve to blast me in the face?" he announced.

Aurieul kept close behind Drek, figuring his vision was even better than hers. Not to mention he was better at picking out signs of previous travelers. She certainly didn't see any signs of a Drow, but then again, she wasn't sure what she should be looking for. How was she supposed to know if that broken branch was from a Drow or from some animal?

<GM's note: OK, just to re-capp: We've got four different locales in play right now. Prosper is with some NPCs (but no PCs) in a Drow-run prison. Marcus, Frnham, and Acedia are in the town of Targos at the Herbalist's shop, and the Herbaliost just offered Marcus a vial that has the antidote for the Gnomish Tea (but Marcus has yet to respond... 'scuse me while I poke Ian with my poking stick). Xander and Micheal have been ambushed in the forest, and Maxwell, Drek and Auriel are moving to investgate the explosion that they heard (that was actualy Xander and Micheal being ambushed, but they don't know that yet.) We're gonna try and get the whole part back together, but meanwheile lets have fun with it.>

IN THE DROW PRISON:
Shamus the Dwarf and Prosper were discussing what to do about escaping, when a blinding flash of light appeared, and out of it steped six Elvish Warriors of Suldeneselar, a Mage in High-wizzard's robes, four Dwarvish Warriors, and a Human Knight in Full-Plate Armor.
The Elven Wizzard Spoke up. He said: "Ah, good, right wjhere I left you Shamus. Allow me to introduce General Casper MacTavish, a commander of Skarae Brae. It seems this prison sits on their land, (well, under their land, actualy) so he's here in an official capacity. The warriors are from the Roayl Suldeneselarian Lancers, and from your own Dwarven clan."
Shamus replied: "Aye, I do recognise me own clan-brothers! That's my good brother Kultich, and my cousins Dandul, Petreus and Samson. Good to see your elven face, Anamora. I take it this is a rescue?"
Anamora, the Elven Mage, said: "Yes, it is. I did say I'd come back for you. But, it seems you've aquired new cell-mates since I left. Two Gnomes and Human child, I see."
Shamus shook his head: "Well, ye have it half-right, Anamora. The human is a lad named Prosper they threw in here, but the Gnomes slave-laborers. We should free them all and send these foul Drow back where they came from.
"We intend to, never you worry. My Lord the Emperor of Suldeneselar has been informed of the situation, and has commanded that all deliberate force be brought to bear against these Drow. But he's also commanded that you be brought to see him, and your Caern-King has consented. I suppose I'll also have to take this young master Prosper along as well, if that's alright with you General MacTavish?
"Quite right, Mister Anamora. This is no place for a child, and it's about to become very bloody. The High-mages of Skarae Brae and Suldeneselar will be sending us more warriors momentarily, so I suggest that you get yourself to your Emperor and leave the prison to me. I'll send a report to you when the prison is liberated, but for now get yourself to safety."
The elven mage nodded. He looked at Prosper and said: "Well Master Prosper, it seems you're coming with us. But where are my manners... introductions are in order. Ahem... How do you do? I am Anamora Advoratrelundar, of the Golden Order Of Suldeneselar. Pleased to make your acquaintance."
Shamus rolled his eyes: "Shesshh... can't you just say 'Hello' like a normal person Anamora?"
Anamora obviously took offense at the interuption, but he didn't say anything.

IN THE HERBALIST SHOP IN TARGOS:
The herbalist was still exending the Vial of Antidote to Marcus. Farnham and Acedia were looking on Hopefully.

IN THE FOREST NEAR THE ROAD TO TARGOS:
Xander and Micheal were stuned by the force of the blast that had hit them. Micheal felt like someone has ran over him with a battering ram, and Xander wasn't sure which way was up just at the moment. Their attackers we'ren't showing themselves, and Micheal felt sure that invisibility must be at work here. Xander felt sure that he was gonna fall down any moment now.

JUST ABOUT TWENTY FEET FROM XANDER AND MICHEAL
Drek was in the lead, his elven eyes scanning for signs of activity up ahead. He caught a fleeting glimpse of a figure though the foliage, but it was too hard to tell who it was. He could tell there was a clearing ahead, about twenty feet ahead, and that two people were in there, but he couldn't identify them just yet.

Micheal's magic revealed two (previously invisible) drow spellcasters. They had both been casting spells, but the anti-magic shell had interupted the manaflow, so their spells fizzled. One of them knelt down and started to pull something large out of a bag on the ground. The other pulled a blowgun out of his belt and loaded it.
