"I'm very fine. Thanks for getting here." Prosper said warmly. He liked the dwarf and his elvish companion. "And as for my youth, If I can get a wepon I should be able to hold my own. Now what say we get out of here?"
The mage motioned to one of the soldiers. The solider produced a short wooden spear, about four and a half feet long with a sharp metal tip on the buisness end. "Here, take this. Use it well."
The mage then pulled a strange round metal box out from under his robes. He let go of the box, and it hovered in mid-air. The box moved and spun itself into an intricate pattern, leaving a trace of light in the air. The mage and spoke a few words in a language Prosper didn't understand, and then a strange tingling sensation ran up the back of prosper's spine Then suddenly.. the room vanished and Prosper was.. nowhere.. in utter blackness...
.... and then, just as suddenly, Prosper was in a huge marble-columned hall with a ceiling that must be hundreds of feet high. There were dozzens of lamps on the walls, and the walls were covered hammered gold. There was about twenty elven mages dressed in red-trimed golden robes standing neatly in a line, each one holding the same round metal box that Anamora had suspended in mid-air back at the cave. Anamora took the his box from it's place in mid-air, and then the elves with the golden robes bowed, turned, and filed ouit of the hall.
Prosper saw that only himself, Anamora and Shamus had been teleported. The soldiers and the gnomes hadn't come. Now that he was out of the dark hole, he could see that there was an engraving on the haft of the spear. It was in elvish. Probably read "Property of the elves" or some such thing
Anamora was looking at him and saying: "Well, how was your first teleportation? Didn't upset you, did it?"
Shamus said: "Oh, he's fine, aren't ye lad? Yes, see? He's right as rain. But I dare say you'd better put some finery upon the lad a'fore ye set him in front of ye Emperor. And feed him too. Can't have an audience with yon high-muckamucks of Suldeneselar dressed in common clothes on an empty stomach, now can we?"
Anamora, the mage, put his little round metal box away and said: "Ahem...yess, well... his Majesty did say he wanted to see you right away, but I suppose there's time for a change of clothes and a snack. Follow me, and stay close behind. It's easy to get lost in the palace if you don't know your way. Every hall in this place looks alike if you don't know where you're going."
