Marcus spoke up. "I think we should get some dinner before we go to bed! All that battling makes me hungry!" |

When Tem saw the Drow's half-eaten leg, he went,"Hbrb, brb, BLLLALALALALALALALALALAALLLLLLLLLLL!"(vomited)<seriously, tone down Marcus's savagery.> |

"What? Never seen me eat a leg before?" Marcus put down the Drow's leg. "I don't really like people or elf meat anyway. Not enough meat on their bones for a good meal." |

Tem barfed again. "Y-you mean you've tasted human and elf too??" he barfed. |

"Oh, not in a long time, Mister Squiddly Man!" Marcus cried. "Ever since I ran away from home to try and find who killed my father, I've been eating mostly human food. Tastes much better than humans themselves." The Lizzardboy winked to Tem. |

"Well, yes. I eat the occasional brain, but mostly human food as well." said Tem. |

"Yeah. Sure. Once I... REVEAL THE TRUTH!!" Tem said, "Prosper, my friend, you'll believe me on this, right? Well, After I used my first mindblast since we met, I accidentally read Marcus's mind. turns out that he wants to earn Maxwell and Farnham's trust... then take all their jewels"<I hope I haven't just screwed up the game. If so, disregard it.> |

<GM's Note: I'm playing Prosper because Netzen PM'd me and told me he's on hiatus for a few weeks.> Propser was shocked. "Say it ain't so, mister Marcus! You wouldn't betray us, not after all we've been through, would you?" Farnham sat quietly, but it was plain from the look on his face that this revelation disturbed him. After all, he had been the one that had recruited Marcus in the first place. Had his trust been abused? He looked pointedly at Marcus, but didn't say anything... yet. |

Meanwhile, Drek was just returning from his talk with Sealem. When he saw what was going on, he drew his bow and nocked an arrow. "I didn't want to believe it. Put the sword down, Marcus!" |

Tem attatched his 2 remaining tentacles to Marcus's head."Go on, Drek. Shoot. Before Marcus rips me off and I lose my manifestation here." He said."Do it." |

Farnham rose from his seat. "Tem, if Marcus wanted to steal from us, he could have done so many times. Yet he hasn't. I won't condemn a man for his thoughts. His actions are what matters to me. All of you, put down your weapons. I'll not have us fighting amongst ourselves." |

"Yes." said Tem, and released his hold. "I've still got my guard up, though. And because of that slash, I'll need to see the town chaneller... again." |

Acedia had turned away when Tem vomited, and now circumvented the group - giving the armed Marcus a wide berth, as simply being slightly off-balance could send a sword into an unintended target - so she was standing upwind...such as it was. If you stood perfectly still for a few hours you might notice a change in the direction of the air. At any rate, she quietly considered the prospect of hiring a guide - they were still indebted to the herbalist. Perhaps she was simply unfamiliar with legal business proceedings, but it seemed to her that hiring a guide would just drive them deeper into irreparable debt and that there must be some kind of free alternative. No paths meant an aerial guide was essentially useless, however, and there were few options besides that. She was about to speak up with some kind of idea but then realized that she had nothing to say. |

Marcus sheathed his sword, keeping an angry eye on Drek. Their 2 peoples had never gotten along very well, even to the brink of 2 small wars long, long ago. |

Farnham spoke with a dark undertone to his voice: "Maxwell started this expedition as a way for him to redeem me, his brother. I went along because I knew he was right, that only by slaying the Dire Wolf could I end the inner torments that drive me to drink. Now I have a chance to do something bigger than mere revenge: To end the threat of the Drow. They threaten all of us. All our homes, all our nations, everybody. I'm not stopping until they're driven back to whatever hole the crawled out of. You can help me, or you can fight each other. Either way, I'm finishing that monster of theirs before I go after the Drow. If we let distrust divide us, we will fail. They will turn us one against the other, and destroy us from within. If we are to succeed we need to trust each other." |

After a moment of silence in which no one else reacted to Farnham's words, Acedia clapped. "Very nice speech, Farnham," she complimented. "And pure truth - we must get along if we are to see a triumphant end to this quest." Acedia had no idea why she was suddenly so all-about-the-group. She just sort of showed up, after all, and decided to go along with them on a whim - just because it sounded fun, some kind of diversion from her, admittedly, boring life. Ask any drifter - the novelty of not having anywhere in particular to be wears off after the first few weeks if you're lucky. "Financially speaking," she started to say after another fairly lengthy pause, "we are in no position to hire anyone, let alone a guide, and tarrying here will not improve our situation. With that in mind, I believe I may have a friend who will guide us all, and for naught but simply the company." { Remember how when I first asked to join this game, I asked to play a spectre? Sarge, you said that a spectre seemed like more of a monster than a player character. The spectre character that I was going to use could be the guide - that promises an interesting journey at least. The character I was going to use is generally nice, though, and /probably/ wouldn't purposefully lead the party off somewhere to die, though might pick on/flirt with/bother some people, just for kicks. o_o Sound like a good idea? I want to control the spectre, though, for obvious reasons... } |

Farnham seemed to perk up. He said: "Why, that's excellent! Why didn't you say you knew these woods before, old friend? Between you and Acedia's friend we should have scant trouble tracking down the Dire Wolf, aye? Acedia, who is this friend you speak of? Where might we find her?" |

{ Awesome! Thanks Sarge! I so totally owe you something. }
"Who is she? A friend of mine. I believe she's currently calling herself Taryn. She had a last name once - I believe it was Shiro - but she has since dropped it. Now, where can we find her? That's the only real problem I see with my plan," Acedia said, ignoring the fact that Farnham had (correctly) predicted the friend's gender. "She is a fellow drifter, so she could be anywhere. She may not even be on this plane of existance. However, it is a lucky thing that we're here in Targos - she does have a reputation with a few shopkeepers around, and we could ask to see if anyone happens to know where she is. I do know that she does enjoy spending time here, so if we're lucky enough, we may find her." Conveniently enough, because I'm a hopeless deus-ex-machina/plot device addict, this friend was in fact in Targos at present, staying at the inn. However, she was staying at the inn incognito, as she was unsure whether or not the bounty was still on her head from...previous events. "If she is here, which is entirely possible, she is probably staying at the inn, and the easiest way to find that out is to ask to see the guest book." |

Maxwell walked in just as Acedia was talking about her friend. He spoke up: "So, she trusts you, right? Ok Acedia, why don't you go poke about a bit and see if you can arrange a meeting. After that episode with that Drow-Mage and the Mayor handing out medals to us and all, she must have heard about us by now if she's here at all. Word spreads fast in places like this. If you run into trouble, you know what to do, right?" |
