I think it's about time we try playing the Werewolf Game again. The last time was about a year ago, and we have a ton of fresh faces since then.
The Game
If you've never played before, The Werewolf Game is a long-term game played both in this thread and over PMs. Players are divided into two teams: humans and werewolves. The human side has more players, but they have very little control over the game. The werewolf side is much smaller, but has more knowledge and can influence events more. The goal of both sides is to kill all the players on the other team.
How the Game Works
The game alternates between night and day rounds. The first round will be a night round.
Night: At night, the wolves PM the game master (me) with their votes for which player to kill. They may confer with each other outside of this thread in any way they desire. After all votes are collected, the night round ends and the player with the most votes is killed. In the case of a tie, no player will be killed.
Day: During the day round, all players vote for which player to kill. They may discuss and vote in this thread only. This is the only round that most players will have an active role in, and it is the round in which humans try to determine which among them is really a wolf. After all players have voted, the round ends and the player with the most votes is killed. In the case of a tie, the mayor (see below) will break the tie.
Stories: I will announce the end of a round by posting a short story detailing the events of that round. I will also change the title of the thread to show that a new round has begun. The story will be a dramatization of the game in which the players are the characters. If you do not wish to read the story, I will summarize all game-related activity at the bottom of each update. However, I may hide small clues within the story that could reveal the identity of certain players.....
Roles
To begin the game, you will be assigned one of these roles randomly via PM after sign-ups are closed. Upon a player's death, their role will be revealed in the update.
Human (about 2/3 of total players)
This is a normal human. The only power a player like this has is the power to vote during a day round. It is a human's job to try to find out which players are wolves and vote for them to be killed. The humans win if all the wolves are killed. Of course, all the special roles will pretend to be normal humans to protect themselves... right?
Wolf (about 1/3 of total players)
This is a werewolf: human by day, vicious killer by night. These players have the power to kill humans during the night by voting. The goal of the wolves is to kill all the humans and keep their disguise up. Each player on the wolf team knows who all the other wolves are, but no one on the human team does.
Angel (1)
This player works on the human team. During a night round, the angel PMs me the name of one player. That player becomes protected for that night. If the protected player recieves the most votes from the wolves, he or she is not killed and a wolf is killed instead (at random). The angel is allowed to protect himself, and is allowed to protect the same player multiple nights in a row. No other players know who the angel is.
Seer (1)
This player works on the human team. During a night round, the seer PMs me the name of one player. I will tell the seer what role that player has in the game. The seer then tries to use that knowledge to influence the voting. No other player knows who the seer is.
Mayor (1)
The mayor is elected by all players before the first round begins. During the day vote, the mayor's vote counts as two votes. If the vote ends in a tie, the mayor will be responsible for choosing which of the tied players will be killed. If the mayor is killed, a new mayor must be elected before the next day round.
If there are a large amount of sign-ups, I may have room for some more special roles.
