Anyone who's taken chemistry knows that Hydrogen is extremly volatile and reacts with almost anything, this is why balloons and blimps use helium instead of Hydrogen (See the Hindenburgh Blimp). Hydrogen, being a +1 elemnt reacts with almost anything, but everyone that knows anything about chemistry knows that Hydrogen (+1) bonds with a hydroxl compound, OH(-1). Thus, we balance that equation and form water. Your description made it seem like we were adding H2 + O, or 2H + O, neither of which are acceptable equations. Go ahead and call me a nerd, I accept it
