Once again, just because people are crying for it, here's my third caption contest! This one is the true test of skills; as you'll be judged by
three different people, for
three different prizes, in
three different categories. This will all be explained later, though.
The rules are once again quite simple for this:
1) A picture will be posted in a varied amount of time, depending on how many people post a caption in certain amounts of time. You can expect an update hopefully once every week at most (Remember, I said
hopefully. There are sometimes things that come up during rounds.)
2) Try to make the most funny caption for the current round's image at the time.
Don't use photo-editing software to morph the image, add in text as your caption, or any other thing that requires programs such as MS Paint, the GIMP, Photoshop, or Paint Shop Pro (Other editors still apply).
3) The format of the captions can be done in either of two ways, represented by text in this case:
Option 1:Code:
Image
{Few line skips, or none at all}
Text (Size 9 font)
Option 2:Code:
Just text at regular point font.
4) The captions may be no more than
30 words in length or
3 lines of text, no matter what size. Line spaces do not count as a line's length. Lines with text do, of course.
Also, names of characters do not count as text. That would be too dictating. Sometimes, if you're lucky, we'll give you the benefit of the doubt for a few words over the limit. That's a low chance, though.
5) Don't give up in the middle of the game if you have a low score.
Please, please, only enter this contest if you'll try to do as many rounds as possible. I -will- send out PMs when there's about two days left of the round.
6) I'll do this one in bold caps since it was a problem in the second one:
DO NOT ASK TO SIGN UP IN THE GAME IF YOU DIDN'T SIGN UP IN THE BEGINNING. FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE. Also, this time around, if you're not signed up, you can't post captions. I will seek to forget about those posts in any way possible and any arguments that break out will be deleted by mods, hopefully (Yes, all this did happen in the last game).
7) Do not post more than one caption per round. Doing so will result in me choosing the least funny to me, a random one at will, or completely ignoring the post all together.
8) There will sometimes be specials in certain rounds such as last place gets a point or double second place points (There will be way more than that).
9) Follow the rules here on the HR Wiki Forum. Breaking any rules through any way will result in you not being counted in the round results.
10) Use your common sense. Make the caption relate to the image. Don't talk about Bonus Stage's Rya if it's a picture of two Homestar Runner figurines next to eachother. It doesn't work, trust me.
To get to the three judges thing, there will [obviously] be three judges in this version of the game. They are:
**Me (DS_Kid)
**Bugkiss (Score averager of last game)
**Funkstar (Winner of last game)
TO JUDGES: You may only judge those who are not breaking the rules. I will specify who in PMs. Also, you may only PM me points in tenths at most (ie.
8.1, 3.4, 5.5 and
not 4.56, 8.77, 9.34). You will PM your scores for each person to me, and I'll then send them to Bug (If he wishes to average this game) or I'll average them myself.
END TO JUDGES
As for the three different prizes, they're composed of a trophy for each of the three top ranks. The first place person will also receive a special reward, whether it be a main spot in my fanfic or a chance to be a judge for another of my games. Here are the trophies:
1st Place:
+ A secret reward!
2nd Place:
3rd Place:
Please note that the base of the trophy will have you username on it and that I may add a little more "zazz" to the parts of the trophy such as the specification of the contest (:p That always helps).
I also do not know how to make these image's white backgrounds transparent, so you're on your own with that (I suggest doing a border or taking it to the
Banner and Avatar Force).
The winning points will be calculated through the average score which will transfer over to the "Total Point Value" if you happen to be one of the top three to win for a round.
We are playing until 15 points have been reached, so this game should last anywhere between 8 and 15 rounds, since no person has the ability to get first place each time.
Basically, the points awarded for winning a round will be distributed like this:
1st Place:
3 points
2nd Place:
2 points
3rd Place:
1 point
That is just the default choice, though. This will be mixed up when special rounds come into effect.
As for the final part, the three different categories, I have decided to add something new to the mix. Each round will have one of three different categories that will randomly be picked by me before every round starts. These three are:
Homestar In-General: Images from HomestarRunner.com through any flash toon, main page, etc. These will probably be the most generic.
Accesories: This category includes shirts, figurines, and other things from the HomestarRunner.com store. This will be the second most generic thing for categories and will be accesories of stuff I've bought through Homestar Runner.
Other: This category may include stuff not even from Homestar Runner that will either be shot with my digital camera or off another website. Do not expect many of these, as I'll keep to the Homestar Runner content for the most part (Though, there are certain Homestar Runner images I may post off other websites).
And now for the true final part, the sign ups. Don't include anything other than your sign up notice. I'll accept only
10 players, any more sign ups after that will not be included and will just sit there idlised (Is that even a word?

Oh, and that -is- a rhetorical question...).
