Okay, so they've made DVDs and CDs- it owuldn't surprise me if the next big non-clothing update to the store was a CD-RM! More than likely, it would contain some of the most popular games on the site... I could see a two-disc set!

DISC ONE:
TROGDOR!
Peasant's Quest
Stinkoman 20x6

DISC TWO:
Secret Collect!
StrongBadZone
Thy Dungeonman
Thy Dungeonman 2
RhinoFeeder

Now, I'm not exactly a technology whiz, so I'm not sure whether their would be software issues that would come up with making/selling such a product. What I DO know is, they would certainly get a lot of sales. They'd probably make one for Windows (since most viewers use that) and one for Macs (since they're bigtime Apple fans, I believe) They'd probably charge more money for the Macs, though- since its harder to get your hands on Mac games, and we'd be more depserate- plus they'd probably just be harder to make in genereal...

Anyways, enough of my ideas. What are YOUR thoughts on the subject?

It could sell....though there would be no need for two disks..one is MORE then adequate to hold all the games and some supplemental material (perhaps a behind the scenes mpeg of the game making process or something.)

They'd need to make more games only available on the CD because I can easily download all the games and play them offline

I think I would never pay money for that list of games you selected, since it's already free on the site. New games, though, would be fine, as long as they're good enough. And I'm sure TBC could make them good enough.

Yeah, they would need something that's not already on the website

It would be cool if they had more levels for the games they already made for the site and some completely new games

They'd have to have expansions for old games, a coupla new games, and bonus material. They'd have to put demos on the site though.

It would take them months to put together all of that new content, which is time they wouldn't be able to spend working on the site. I say nuh-uh.

...Which is why they haven't been updating recently! YAY!!

Post subject:

Actually, I suspect their lack of updates this week has something to do with their appearance at the alamo Drafthouse. I mean, when you're traveling that far, you don't really have time to squeeze in an update. I mean, if they had done a SB email this week, it would have been rushed and thrown together, because they'd be hurrying preparing everything and getting ready to leave. Personally, I'm glad there's no update this week.

Toastpaint, here's my (furtherly expanded) ideas for the CD-ROM.

DISC NUMERO UNO:
TROGDOR! Extended Edition- The same game, but with new levels interspersed within. Because of the repititiveness-ness of the levels in this game, the new levels would probably be something completely different from the regular layout. Like, one similar to the gameplay of Super Mario Bros. Another, to Mega Man. Another, to Space Invaders or Galaga. Sort of a mishmash of different arcade games, but TROGDOR-ized to fit into the "story". When you beat the game, you unlock a watchable version of the email "Dragon".

Peasant's Quest- Just the game, Peasant's Quest, in all its glory. When you beat the game, you unlock the short, "Peasant's Quest Preview".

PEASANT'S QUEST II- A new Peasant's Quest game! Story details will depend greatly upon where TBC decide to take this one. Popular vote decides you'll probably play as the baby, grown-up, ready to defend your "father's" honor. And- you'll probably fight two or three of Trogdor's brothers, or something, before you actually fight Trogdor. But who knows, really? When you beat the game, you unlock the short, "Peasant's Quest Movie Trailer".

The COMPLETED Stinkoman 20x6- The original six "Stinkoman 20x6" levels, plus brand new levels, 7-12. Considering the utter randomness of level and plot progression in the games, who knows where these levels will go? 20x6 Coach Z will probably be revealed as the kidnapper in the last level. Anwyays- beat the game, and unlock the email, "Japanese Cartoon".

Thy Dungeonman 1, 2 and 3- The Thy Dungeonman Trilogy! Beat number 1 to unlock number 2! Beat number 2 to unlock the BRAND NEW number 3, which will probably just continue the characters and situations introduced in number 2! Beat number 3 to unlock the password that allows you to access the games on disc two.

After beating all the games on this disc, you will be able to choose a Bonus Features section on the menu, which will feature all the secrets you've unlocked so far, plus a few more BRAND NEW surprises (a documentary on how TBC and Jonathon make the games, creator and character commentaries over video walkthrus of some of the games, a trailer for the PEASANT'S QUEST II movie, etc.)

DISC NUMBA TWO:

Type in the password you recieved on Disc One as soon as you put in Disc Two to access the Disc Two menu, featuring the games "Secret Collect!", "StrongBadZone", and "Strong Bad's RhinoFeeder" (beat these three to unlock the email "Video Games"), as well as "Awexome Cross "(beat this to unlock the email "Monster Truck") and "Population:Tire" (beat this to unlock the "JUMBO STRONGBADIA PACK", a special menu featuring all the SB emails that are about StrongBadia- i rule, colonization, flag day, etc.) After beating all five, you unlock a new, PLAYABLE version of Super Kingio Brothers.

There, whaddaya think? I may email TBC about this- I'd certainly buy one-a these!

How about an all new game, that is released on the site first as a teaser, then have the real thing released on the major consoles? It worked with Alien Hominid! :sb:

Meh, it would be practically impossible for TBC to get Nintendo, Sony and PlayStation to license their game... plus, they would never realease anything onto home-videogaming consoles. Its just the kind of publicity they're trying to avoid- at least, for the time being.

i got a better idea, why not program a PS2 game? ya know, make it like-a-da- sims, or like GTA, except theres no cars, no shooting, but some fighting with new badguys that are badder than strong bad, or hows bout this:
MEDAL OF HONOR: STRONGBADIA,
you play as someone in the Homestarmy and actually invade strongbadia through, a, uhh, a, umm... i dunno, a beach, or past a river into the City State, or parachuting into it, or somthing. or what about H*R: TEAM FREE COUNTRY;WORLD POLICE
or Peasants Quest Online Furry. yeah, thatd be awesome, or Awexsome Cross 2007, its like Awexsome cross 98, but its three-dee and looks like ATV:Offroad Furry. yeah, theed be awesome

good ideas on the CD swooshoman. Except you shouldn't unlock cartoons that are on the site. They should be replaced with high score arcade game type games like population tire. Peasant's Quest II would have my idea for peasant's quest 0.

I the TBC ever made a game it should be for the DS. I only say that so they could put in StrongBadZone. Ladies would make out with their touch screens. It would be programmed to say BACK OFF BABY.

They should make a PC game and release it in the store, so they don't ruin their haven that is H*R.

I think if they did release a CD ROM then they ought to put at least one game on there that isn't on the site... You know, as a bigger incentive to buy the disc. I mean, who's going to pay for a disc that has games on it that you can play free on the net?

So, they could do a load of levels for Stinkoman that aren't on the net, and a whole new game too.

I think that'd be cool.

(Ignore Necromancer)

Yeah, if they make a computer game, they will still just release it at the store. That's the beauty of Homestar- its 100 percent intenret-based.

And Joshua makes another good point! Even if TBC did license, everyone knows that they'd only license out to Nintendo. You know, now that I think about it- a Homestar game for the Revolution would'nt be half-bad.

Maybe they could get permission to make a Revolution game, but still only sell it on their store?

Author:  BlindJustice15 [ Sat Jun 18, 2005 1:24 pm ]

From what I've heard, the Revolution will support independant game makers, who can upload their games for other people to download directly to the Revolution. :ehsteve:

I believe TBC could really use The Rev to their advantage with it's support of third party games.

TBC should ship this on 5.25" floppies as well.

Author:  Black Metal [ Sat Jun 18, 2005 6:10 pm ]
Post subject:

Umm I've seen those. Not good for anything above text games and games where you can manipulate little bleeps of light. I don't think you could upload anything modern day onto one of those. I used them with apple II's and BASIC Programming.

I think this idea has potential. Only time, and TBC will tell.

Post subject:

Hey, I have a Lemmings game of Floopy disk too.

Actually, it wouldn't be a bad idea to sell the "Floppy Disk Container", and have each of the floopy disks be one of their games... That's actually a solid idea. They could sell the holder similar to Strong Bad's that they out them all in, too. Wow! A new innovation!

Actually, I think that's a better idea than two CD-ROMs...

Neither one of my computers has a floppy disk drive; I would need the games on CD-ROM.

Would it really be that hard for TBC to put something like this together? Remember, they don't program the games anyway; Jonathan Howe does. TBC would probably still have plenty of time for the site. Am I right? Would I lie to my own flesh and blood? :bubs:

[edit] And wait a minute, why not make this a Videlectrix venture? All those games on the Videlectrix site that you can't play? Shploitz, for Pete's sake!

You forgot Falcon 3.0 and Strike Commander... Nothing better than strafing runs, done with Wagner blaring out of your stereo, of course..

It would be cool to see a CD-Rom collection of Homestar Games.. Even if it was nothing more than "the games you can download and play on the site", I'd probably buy it anyway. It just seems cool. Especially if it came in/with a "floppy disk container", with the games on floppies, too, of course. And the games would have to have copy protect, just for retro value.

I, personally, also like Unguriat#7's idea, about it having more of those games that they talk about on videlectrix.com that aren't created yet, like QWERTY, Kid Speedy, and Where's an Egg?- among others.
