The C in UC Berkeley stands for California. I just refer to it as "Cal" but I guess that doesn't really matter.

Also, (to Invserse) that whole "we name things different even though they're the same" deal at UVA is one of the main reasons I'm a *sophomore* at the Grove. The overal atmosphere at UVA felt overly snooty for my tastes, although some people don't feel that, or even like it, as plenty of people go there all the time ^^;; It's a pretty campus though, I'll give it that. Plus, GMU does in fact have a linguistics program, I know this as my best friend is currently taking it there The man's like triple majoring or something with a few minors. His head's gonna bust, I just know it.

I'm thinking of becoming a cartoonist. The problem is that I'm unsure about college. I am the type of person who tries to avoid doing things for long periods of time just to prove to a teacher that I know it and then get shot down whenever I do something smacking of originality.

However, my mom is telling me to go now, or I'll never get to go due to expenses. I am a near straight-A student in junior year of high school with test scores of a prodigy. I can literally go to any college I want for free, just about. That's the main problem, I suppose. Everyone wants me to go. I'm not as against college as I was used to, and if I happen to realize that I need it on my own, then okay. Fine. I'll do it. But I'm not sure if I can get scholarships when I'm, say, 25. I could be missing an opportunity for free ejumacation that many students can only dream about.

However, if I am forced to go or choose to go later, I may choose Columbia University or something. I haven't really looked into them, to be honest. But Columbia is pretty close, and I'd rather go to schools close to home. I am sure of that.

I'm definitely going to University of Washington if I can. However, this is kinda unlikely since I need a 3.75 cumulative GPA. Dunno what my major is gonna be yet.

I want to major in computer science in university. I don't know what to minor in though.

Going to Central Michigan University. Major: meteorology. (I study meteors! (not)) Minor: mathematics.

It's not a bad idea. I mean, I did it. Saved me a crapload of money and wasn't incredibly different. You just don't get the "college freshman experience" if that's important to you. I'm glad I didn't have to deal with that, personally.


Yeah, this school is pretty full of itself. Then again, this town is also full of itself. But both are beautiful and have awesome resources. If I came for to either for the people, I'd be sorely disappointed.

*chuckle* During my visit there, I was most amused at how every other sentence the tourguide said somehow included the words "Thomas Jefferson" in it. I was tempted to raise my hand and ask if the news had reached here that the man's dead now ^^;;

I am mos definitely interested in pursuing the arts. Right now I'm working on the triple threat thing, as I perform as both an actor a dancer and a cartoonist. I'm not entirely sure as to what area I'd like to indulge in to the fullest extent, but I'm sure it will come to me. My particular careers of interest have been radio DJ, graphic designer, syndicated cartooner, character designer, etc. And I'd love to perform as a breakdancer or hip-hopper and act in more movies.

As for colleges... Capilano College has always appealed to me. It's all secluded up in the majesty of the forest and it's supposed to have a warm community and enlightening classes. Emily Carr College would be good as well, with the fresh sea air in your lungs and the privilege of following a colourful history in artistry.

It's weird because with my grades in school I could probably make it into Simon Fraser University (SFU) or the University of British Columbia (UBC), but the only academic course I've truly enjoyed is Biology and I just can't see myself as Biologist in the future. Arts have always been the classes that have challenged me the most and yet I find the most enjoyment in them. Anyways, it's almost too late for me to strive for SFU or UBC now... I'm destined for the arts!

UCSD is a great school. I have a few friends that are currently going there, and my cousin just finished his time there.
It's a great school, and of course, San Diego is the best city in the country.

That's exactly what I was originally doing. As it turned out, I don't like sparky-work at all. So, I bumped the CS minor to the major (as I actually love that stuff) and kept the math minor, as I'm done with that already =3

So, in short, be careful eddie, the minor may become the major

Well, I really enjoy computer programming, but engineering looks exciting so I definitely want to try it out (which is why computer engineering is my first choice, since it might involve both). But as long as I stay with something that involves math and computers I'll be fine.

Also, I do have a couple colleges in mind, but I don't really want to say, since my username has my name in it, and they still have my applications and they might look me up on Google, and stuff...

I'm currently a Freshman at the REAL USC (That's University of South Carolina. We were a college before California was a state. XP). I'm an Art Studio/Art History double major English minor in the Honors College. Honestly, I was going to go to Oberlin (Whoever said they were interested in it...it's a GREAT school. Stay overnight if you can). They accepted me, but the honors program at USC was too good to pass up. It's kinda like having the intimacy and small class sizes of a small liberal arts school with the resources and activities of a huge university.

As an art kid myself, I feel like I have to put in my two cents about all you prospective art majors or art school peeps. It's unfortunate that there really isn't much future in that field. It's extremely difficult for a 21 year old with a bachelor's degree in art to make it in the real world. If you're going to pursue that direction and make a living on art, count on going to grad school for a master's degree. Hopefully by double majoring in Art History I'll be able to do museum work. Not to glorify...more lucrative areas of study as opposed to the arts but it's good to think about the practicality of one's major and what jobs will be available to you once you graduate.

And that's another thing. Art doesn't really seem to have much opportunities open for people. I don't want to waste money and time going somewhere that may be a waste in the long run.

At least I have history I can fall back to. Maybe become a teacher (though I doubt it) or something that uses history from the past. ALWAYS HAVE A BACK UP PLAN, CHILLINS!

I graduated from Utah State University back in 2004 with a major in Computer Engineering and a minor in Computer Sci. I was about 4 credits short of a math minor, but I don't really care. Every once in a while I start to think about a masters degree, but I hate homework so much that I haven't looked seriously into it yet.

On the subject of art, I'm hoping that my computer backing and self-education of art will help me get into some cg work one of these days, as well as a masters and/or doctorate work in compuer graphics, because that'd rule.

I went to Western Kentucky University where I majored in Geography (meteorology and climatology emphasis), minored in math and (unofficially) minored in physics*.

I got a BS in Geography and an AS in Meteorological Technology.

From there, I went to grad school at the University of Alabama-Huntsville where I studied atmospheric sciences. My main focus was on hurricanes with an emphasis on satellite observations and incorporating those observations into forecast models.

*I say unofficially because, while I had enough classes and credits for the minor, I did not have the GPA in that program for it (I think you had to have a 3.0 in classes in your minor and I had a 2.9, or maybe it was a 3.5 and I had a 3.4... my "minor" GPA was .1 off), so it didn't go on my degree program. I put my math minor on there instead.

Cal State Fullerton's got some great arts programs; my mom has a BFA in theatre from there. I looked into their theatre program myself but ended up staying here in Colorado because I feel so attached to this place.

As for Loyola, Jesuits are basically Catholic missionaries, but Didy could explain that a lot better than I could. I'm attending Eastern New Mexico University to study journalism and history. I would really like to study geography and more Spanish, but ENMU doesn't have a geography program and I don't have much time for more Spanish classes.
