I've talked to my therapist about this.

The most satisfactory conclusion we've come to is this: I had my first stint with anorexia the summer after 7th grade, when my home life was pretty much falling to pieces, my mom was in and out of jail/rehab and my dad was pretty much periodically kicked out of the house. I had no control over those aspects of my life- my therapist thinks I subconsciously decided I needed control over SOMETHING, and that could be my eating.

It makes sense to me. Unfortunately(?) the eating disorder has stayed with me.

To some degree it makes sense. The need for some kind of stability in a life full of chaos.

Myrrh, do you remember me suggesting that you might want to get involved in Alanon? I thought it was a good idea back then, and I still do. I have one member who attends Alanon because her husband is an alcoholic. If nothing else, you will find a group of people who have had similar experiences to yours, and perhaps find some healing from what you've been through. Talk it over with your new parents and see if they'll support you in this.

But one thing I do what you to notice here, Myrrh: there's a lot of people here who hate seeing you put yourself through this, people who do care about you. We may not fully understand what's going on, but we don't want you to have to keep suffering for it.

Am I wrong in saying that everyone has some symptom of OCD?
Or at least some obsessive thing that they do?
Cos I have a few things that I have to do or like compulsions or whatever, but I don't think that I have OCD.
Um, yeah. Someone should make a topic about compulsions people have, because I'd be interested to see what people do.

Myrrh, you said yourself that under 100 = unhealthy.

If you died...I think I'd kill myself. And at the rate you're losing weight...

I'm not kidding. You're the closest friend I've ever had, and I can't stand seeing you starve yourself.

Don't you care about us, Myrrh?

For the record, I'm 5'4" and between 105 and 110.

I'm seriously scared that I'm too thin.

It's only creepy because you are both under 18. If you two were legal, there would be a bunch of guys going, "Details?" Anyone besides Magna, Didymus and PMG says that's not true, I am calling shenanigans right now.

Ace has been put in to the solitary confinement wing of the Kidlet Forest.

Wow, it's been a while since that's been used.

I have a few mental disorders... I've got RLS, Migraines, and Insomnia. I'm sure there are others, but I've only been to a professional about seven times about these. I can only think while I'm walking, but that might be related to RLS. Most friends I have say I probably have more disorders than three...

You beat Coach Z. ;)

To make this a not spam post, I always have bad reactions when I come back home after a long period of time due to nicotine. In short, it's like I'm on crack, and I really, really hate it.

Of course, I plan on living at home for a year after I graduate, and I want to pay $250/month to be able to (My reason will be for their retirement fund), but I'll promise $500/month if they quit smoking, as that would improve the living quality (and it'll also be for their retirement/life)

I think I have OCD. I pick at the skin on my fingers without thinking, especially my left thumb, and have stuff PERFECTLY arranged. I also (Very often) feel like I have to do something pointless and random like run to the kitchen, open a cupboard or something, and leave. I either have OCD, or I'm just nuts.... (?)

Nah, OCD is when disturbing, intrusive thoughts compel you to do arbitrary things that interfere with your life. That isn't really anything disturbing or intrusive from the looks of it; it's probably just a nervous habit.

Okay, thats relatively good. That does kinda happen. I get these wierd thoughts and I'm afraid I'd actually do them. For example, I imagine hitting my teacher with a book or jumping out the window or something. I doubt I'd do it, though. It's also kind of annoying when my mom gets mad at me for doing stuff to my fingers, but if I could automaticly stop something I do unconciously like that I would. My thumb is improving a little bit, actually. What about the doing random pointless stuff?

Yeah, ever see the Rain Man? Ray doesn't want Tom Cruise to go through his books and everything because of his OCD + Autism.

Wait, that happens to me. Is it a diagnosis that doctors can be absolutely sure about, or just an assumption based on symptoms?

Edit: Example: I'll go up to bed, be in my bed with the lights off, about to go to sleep, when suddenly I need to go downstairs, turn the light on, and turn it off again. I really don't want to, but I have to. That sound like OCD?

Sounds pretty much exactly like OCD to me. You probably only got it pretty mild, though, so don't worry too much about it.

And you are either Dyslexic or a Spellcheckaphobic. I'm leaning towards the latter on that.

I've never been actively suicidal. I've made suicidal threats in fits of extreme frustration but never with any intention of carrying them out.

However, I DO self-injure. I don't cut myself, but I hit myself in the head and bite my knees. :/ Again, frustration.

Ahh, I bite myself all the time.

I've only threatened to commit suicide once, and it was only to get my mom off my back when she was whining about my grades.

One time I hit it against my bedroom floor so hard that I saw sparkles. I remember Didymus being really worried about that. Luckily, no permanent damage resulted.

The only time I have hit myself is giving facepalms. I give them to other people most of the time, but I have done a few self-facepalms.

Yeah, it did. The sparkles really freaked me out so I told some of my IM buddies. Didymus, like I said, was really worried about me. All was well though, even if I did have a bit of a headache for a few hours.

What I've been wondering... when a person hears voices telling them to kill people/set fires/ect. then they have a dangerous disorder. But if they still hear voices, but it's sort of like "imaginary friends" and they have conversations, are they still in trouble? No, I'm not talking about me, it's a relative.

I've been doing that for years. When you're an only child you kind of have to.
