I recently got out of the mental hospital and am seeing a therapist, but nothing seems to help. I'm so depressed now that I can't stand it. Nothing makes me laugh anymore and I feel worthless. The urge to slash myself now is horribly strong. Life is pointless.

Thanks. My family and friends have really been supportive of me too, and I'm feeling a little more relieved this morning.

Ooo, glad to see I'm not the only crazy 'roud 'herr

This is the craziness I've been diagnosed with, and it also runs rampant in my family: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agoraphobia

However, I've been taking 'Calming Pills' for 3 years now, so I'm good to go anywhere. :)

Uh, I have no official diagnoseses, but I'm pretty sure I have paranoia and depression.

ANYTHING sets me off crying, I almost always feel worthless, and I have almost slashed myself many times.

I also get prickles down my spine if I have my back to total darkness too long, and I always feel like something/someone is watching me.

In fact, the paranoia probably arose due to the depression.

I'm sane. My only problem is that I'm shy in public, which is why I'm gregarious, outgoing, and lovable on the intrawebz.

Gotta fix the shyness thing though.

Thought I'd do the Bumpty-bump on this thread because I found a cool website. Not sure where else I'd post the link, but this seems closest...

Some are pretty funny.

I think I have a touch of OCD, based on my incredibly limited knowledge of the condition.

Post subject:  Re: Mental Problems

I'm not diagnosed with anything medical, but there are a few things that uh... worry people.

I get panic attacks. Sometimes they're sparked off if I see someone I know getting picked on at school. But sometimes they're completely out of the blue, which can get a little scary.
I also can't stand physical contact of any kind. It makes me feel violently ill, and very scared. One time, my friend tried to pat me on the shoulder, and I ended up shouting at him and shivering uncontrollably. On top of that, there's a general inability to spend much time around people without getting 'spooked', as in wanting to get away as quickly as possible. Oh, and general shyness in real life. To the point where it took some people a year in the same class as me to realise I'm not a mute.
The rest comes and goes, most common being scratching my legs until they bleed (usually whilst asleep, but I'm not sure if that's really a mental problem), getting very tearful very easily, and being unable to make decisions in public.

Uh... actually, the only thing I can find to blame it on was being bullied when I was twelve, but that shouldn't account for all of it. The rest just doesn't really make sense.
The shyness thing used to be a whole lot worse back then. I can now string a sentence together to a person I don't know that well without taking all day.

Yeah, 12 wouldn't cut it. It would've been before then. And there's all types of things that could've happened that could've been so extreme that you've repressed them.

With your descriptions, I would most feverishly encourage you to get a psychiatrist to try and dig all this stuff out.

I was diagnosed with anxiety disorder, but my doctor says it's my choice if I wanna go on meds; he recommends Celexa in that case. For now he suggested I work out to the point of exhaustion (which would also help with my insomnia) in the morning or mid-day.
