Well, let's see here, since reading the book 'chew on this' (kind of a scoop on what 'fast food nation' is like), and viewing the movie 'Super Size me', it kind of had an after affect on me. After carefully considering it, I decided to swear myself off of mcdonald's (and don't get any ideas, thinking I said **** and **** a lot) and stay away from the mother of all health hazards...besides actual diseases and the subway system...and stuff like that. I've been off it for a year or so, and I can resist the burgers and deserts and chicken and salads and chicken salads. But man those fries are mighty tempting, still, I have not broken my vow, anyways, so, has anyone else been abstaining from something or currently abstaining? |

I don't like McDonald's, and I don't even care about my health. I just don't like McDonalds. Well, except for the apple pies. sbuhu wrote: But man those [s]fries[/s]CHIPS are mighty tempting...
Burger King [s]fries[/s]CHIPS are better, but I always get the onion rings when I'm there. I've been abstaining from Flash for a long time. Now I'm not, but I'm still looking forward to getting the tablet pen. I suck at mouse drawing |

I don't like McDonalds much either. Occasionally, I might get some Chicken McPiecesParts, but that's about it. For burgers, I'd much prefer either home grilled or Backyard Burgers, or if I'm cheap, Burger King. But lately, I've been eating mostly food I cook at home, which involves a lot of rice and grilled chicken served different ways (Southwestern, Curry, Teriyaki, or with just some mushrooms and onions). I have a sleeping disorder, though, which requires that I take medicine to sleep at night and go to bed at a decent hour. But I sometimes don't like to take the medicine (it makes me feel tired and sleepy the next day), and when I don't take it, I end up staying up to like 4am (or even all night). I also like girls too much. Which wouldn't be a problem except for my profession. That, and the fact that I'm not meeting very many of them in real life. |

It sucks, because the bad stuff tastes so good, and the good stuff tastes like crap. I tried a pea the other day. And I almost barfed. It's probably because I eat too much junk though. So I'm trying to ride my bike a lot. |

I always found the antidote to any sort of attraction was pushing one's train of thought to yo mama, not your mother in particular Didymus, but one's own mother. For the thought of that...'attraction' towards one's mother would most likely cause a psychological meltdown dissolving all current thoughts, as well as any attraction towards a member of the feminine species which has no relation towards you. Thus concluding...having your mind turn morbid and/or just plain bizzare and creepy, would chase away any normal thoughts. |

i've been trying to abstain from alcoholic beverages and sexual temptation. it's hard. being grounded is making it easier though. It's hard to drink and have sex with your parents in the room. |

Liking girls is fine, Rusty. But, as with all things, moderation and learning to be content. Take for example, my neighbor. She is REALLY hot! But she's engaged, so there's not much chance for me. I talk to her when I see her, but I don't stalk her or spy on her, or lech at her when I see her outside. Those kinds of things would be rude and, quite frankly, counterproductive. |

Well, yeah, that would be pretty stupid, in fact. |

I need to stop it with the caffeinated beverages what contain phosphoric acid and bubbles. Green tea's the way to go, not this Coca Cola robot-sweat stuff. I've been abstaining from most meats for a while. For a long time actually. It's amazing how quickly it becomes easy. And then most meat starts seeming disgusting, but the kinds of meat that are better for you are still appealing. Like venison and fish. Oh man, I could eat a whole deer like right now. I'm still continuing my lifelong abstinence from drugs, tobacco, hard liquor, and crappy beer, though I now allow myself to drink all kinds of wines (red has preference) and mid- to high-end beer, but only one serving in a 24 hour period. (On ultra-special occasions only, one 24 hour period can end and the other begin one after another) There's one other lifelong abstinence that's becoming harder to maintain now that the religious prerogative behind it has disappeared... >_> It's kept itself going just by sheer momentum and lack of social skills over the past year and a half. But pray I don't make any poor peer-to-teen choice awards now that them social skills are rapidly improving and I'm entering a college with an endless amount of the hottest womens imaginable. (yes I went there) |

Ooh, can I be the drunk cousin no one likes to talk about? And when someone mentions my name, everyone in the room gets really quiet and serious until someone quickly changes the subject? |

"Welcome to the family, Inverse Jr." Over the last couple years, I have resisted consuming both large amounts of junk food and soda (water, yay!). I still need to work on getting off my butt more, using my computer less often (doubt that'll happen ), and then go walking/biking/whatever. So far, this seems to be working, but it'll take awhile longer to fully accomplish.

I'm going to have to start abstaining from alcohol and self-induced insomnia once school starts. I can't say I'll have to abstain from having sex because I'm not having any sex to begin with. I could be but times are never right. I need to quit giving in to junk food and junk eating. =\ Drinking water doesn't help much. |

Ahh, thread went controversial then So, abstinence eh? I don't drink, do drugs or smoke, but I can't be said to be "abstaining" from them any more than I can be said to be "abstaining" from rollerskating, as I have no desire to do that either. I can be said to be abstaining from viewing certain websites which cannot be mentioned on this forum, not because I consider their content to be "immoral" but because I think going there constitutes culture tourism, which is especially bad since I have friends who engage in these unspecified practises and I should respect that more than I am doing |

Well, aside from the more usual things to abstain from, I am limiting myself to ONE plate of food at mealtimes, as well as not allowing myself videogames untiol my homework is done - because if I don't, where I live, I wouldn't get any done otherwise ^^;; Also, I haven't played my gameboy for any length for three years counting. No particular reason, just meh about what I've got, and I don't feel like investing in a ds, still. |
