Aside from reading, do you have a running internal monologue? Usually I'm either reading, talking, watching/listening/paying attention to something enough not to have a steady one.

I basically narrate my own inner TV Show.

Occasionally. Only if I'm deeply contemplating recent events in my life. When I'm bored, I just think about life, and try to solve my problems. It never works, but it's entertaining nonetheless.

I have an almost constant inner voice.
Sometimes, I get in arguments with that voice, though.
He can be a real jerk sometimes.

Oh yeah. Feels like I'm in a book or something. A very boring, weird book.

I'm always having an inner monologue. I assumed everyone always did.

I do all the time; in fact, I think up my novel ideas like that. Yay!

When I looked at the title, I thought this thread was talking about grunting or something... XD

It's more like there's two voices inside me, and I can never figure out which one is giving good advice or bad advice... :-S :-|

There are many voices inside my head.

Sometimes one of them breaks out and-YOU ALL SUCK. GO AND DIE.

Always. I have to explain everything to myself.

I definitely subvocalize all of the stinking time. So much sometimes that I'm surprised at when my real voice comes out not talking the same way I think. Apparantly I think a tidge bit more eloquently than I talk, somehow.

Isn't sub vocalizing just thinking in the third person?

or was it second?

Sort of. Subconsciously. Confusing.

I've always wondered what it would be like to have a mild form of schizophrenia. not a "kill them, because I said so" case, just some guy making small talk with you...in thoughts. or a DVD commentary, that would be fun.

I heard voices in my head, one late night when I was half asleep and sort of dreaming but still conscious enough to be thinking properly. I forget what they said, it was nothing important. Just like, one sentence about some random thing. But it was awesome. I wish I had voices more often.

Yeah, I have an inner monologue. For some reason, though, it's in English about half of the time, even though I'm Swedish. I guess it's because I spend so much time at my computer. But sometimes it's more like a debate between one idea and another rather than a monologue.

If subvocalizing = talking to yourself, then yes, I do it a lot.

Yeah. I talk to myself all the time. I like my inner voice way more than my real voice. My real voice is too squeaky.

I talk to myself quite a bit.

Mostly while cursing, but still.

Haha, I know what you mean.
I thought it had something to do with singing along with songs when you listen to them.

Very much so. It's the voice that governs what I write and type. In reality I'm a drunk drug addict that goes around shooting cats.

Seriously, I have an inner-monologue that I usually disagree with.

I have an inner dialouge. Most of my thought process is in the form of talking to someone, usually someone who might be mildly interested in what I have to say. And when I've been writing too much, it becomes an inner narrative.

Seriously? No images or anything? No thoughts? No memory? No questions? That must suck to some degree.

I have something like this. I always have conversations with my friends or just random people in my head, and I imagine the whole scene and everything like it was a real memory.
Sometimes I have trouble remembering what conversations I actually had and what just happened in my head (a bit like coach Z on that old answering machine).
