I'm gonna say it again: Calling someone a weeaboo just because they like a certain anime, or even a lot of anime, is racism. Because you're assuming that, because what they like is Japanese, it's idiotic and lame. I mean, that's just assuming that it can't have any of its own merits, like the STORY?!?!, and immediately dissing it based on the country it came from. Thanks. *bows, exits* |

I don't think calling somebody a weaboo is a racist statement - you're not really saying anything about their race, you're just saying something about their...I guess their culture. But you're not saying anything about their race. |

I guess I could have phrased that better, but what I meant was that insulting someone because they're a fan of Japanese culture (no matter how much of a fan they are) is racism against the Japanese. Er, not against the so-called "weeaboo" themselves. |

I don't know how it's racist against the Japanese, you're not exactly referring to the japanese in any way besides that the "weaboo" in question is taking part in the culture. Not to say that accusing someone of being a weaboo for liking any anime is justified, but I don't really think it's racist. |

Mandy, just accept it, you're a weeaboo. The reason I don't dislike you for it is because you have a great personality and therefore I am able to look past that. Same goes for Myrrh but I was unaware she enjoyed anime before because she doesn't show it. |

@Rusty, the reason I say it's racist against the Japanese to call someone a weeaboo JUST because they like something Japanese is because that's implying that all Japanese things are lame and anyone who likes them is lame. not@Rusty, I fail to see how Mandy's liking one anime makes her a weeaboo. Nor do I see how my liking many anime series makes ME a weeaboo. A weeaboo is someone who obsesses over anime and all things Japanese for no good reason and is annoying about it. Neither of us are those things. We like RM because it's a brilliant series with an amazing story. As far as I know, it's the only anime Mandy gives a rat's hindquarters about, and while I'm a fan of lots of other anime, it's not because they're from Japan. I'd like them if they were made in America or France or Nigeria or wherever else. |
