I've tried to make myself memorize Hardware Store for no particular reason.

Right now though I'm trying to learn the words to Hide and Seek by Imogen Heap. I really like that song for some reason. It sounds downright weird.

Most of my Ben Folds library, most of my Muse library, most of my Weezer library, most of my Weird Al library, my entire Yale Alley Cats Live In Europe CD, a lot of Nirvana.

Plus a lot of songs for choir.

Why would anyone memorize a song for no reason.

Author:  ChickenLeg [ Thu Apr 17, 2008 8:46 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: Songs you've memorised for no reason

Because they like said song or they've heard it so much that they know the lyrics.

There's a girl with a crown and a scepter
Who's on WLSD
And she says that the scene isn't what it's been
And she's thinking of going home

That it's old and it's totally over now
And it's old and it's over, it's over now
And it's over, it's over, it's over now
I can see myself

At the end of the tour
When the road disappears
If there's any more people around
When the tour runs aground
And if you're still around
Then we'll meet at the end of the tour

The engagements are booked through the end of the world
So we'll meet at the end of the tour

Never to part since the day we met
Out on Interstate 91
I was bent metal, you were a flaming wreck
When we kissed at the overpass

I was sailing along with the people
Driving themselves to distraction inside me
Then came a knock on the door, which was odd
And the picture abruptly changed

At the end of the tour
When the road disappears
If there's any more people around
When the tour runs aground
And if you're still around
Then we'll meet at the end of the tour

The engagements are booked through the end of the world
So we'll meet at the end of the tour

This was the vehicle, these were the people
You opened the door and expelled all the people
This was the vehicle, these were the people
You opened the door and expelled all the people
This was the vehicle, these were the people
You let them go

At the end of the tour
When the road disappears
If there's any more people around
When the tour runs aground
And if you're still around
Then we'll meet at the end of the tour

The engagements are booked through the end of the world
So we'll meet at the end of the tour
And we're never gonna tour again
No, we're never gonna tour again

Papercut Skin by The Matches
hay sup its not depressing

Uh
Day out, day in
It's the alarm versus me
And the snooze button wins
I've been waking
All my life to become what I'm going to be
I'm a crone
La da da da da da
A headstone
Day out, day in and begin again
Day out, day in recycle bins,
Cash out, cash in, debit pins
Day out, day in, the paper cuts
My skin again skin again
(Skin again, skin again)
Cash out, cash in
I can burn all I earned on some weakness or whim
Without thinking
I'm a mark for their marketing plans I'm Americancer
A MySpace romancer
Cash out, cash in and begin again
Day out, day in recycle bins
Cash out, cash in, debit pins
Day out, day in, the paper cuts
My skin again skin again
Day out, day in
Vitamins
Give out, give in
Vicodin
Day out, day in the paper cuts
My skin again skin again
Skin again skin again, alright
All ye, all ye, come home free,
Ollie ollie oxen free,
Day in, day out
I call time out
All ye, all ye, come home free,
Ollie ollie oxen free,
Day in, day out
I call time out
I call time out
Uh
Give out, give in
If a man's hands show his trade, does it suit me then
This papercut skin
That makes me wince with each hand I'm required to
Shake, shake, shake, shake
Day out, day in recycle bins
Cash out, cash in debit pins
Day out, day in
The paper cuts, my skin again, skin again
Day out, day in
Vitamins
give out, give in
Vicodins
Day out, day in
The paper cuts my skin again skin again
Skin again skin again
I call time out
Ollie ollie oxen free

Post subject:  Re: Songs you've memorised for no reason

I can't remember a couple parts, but here's the basic setup of the lyrics of "Bullets" by Tunng.

Green hills and enemies,
These things they make us sentimental inside.
Our words are gelignite
Or just another sentimental aside.

We're catching bullets in our teeth,
It's hard to do but they're so sweet,
And if they take a couple out
We'll try and work things out.
We're catching bullets with our heads,
And hearts and all the darkest
Parts of us, it's strange to find such light,
In such endless night.

So sweet to lose a friend,
You leave the church and taste the air in your lungs.
Old lies and fireflies,
Carve angels on your eyes and all is undone.
You whisper prayers into the dark,
Up to a God in whom you've never believed.
You always do,
You split the secret up six ways
And begged for our forgiveness just before dawn,
And now you don't remember.

We're catching bullets in our teeth,
It's hard to do but they're so sweet,
And if they take a couple out
We'll try and work things out.
We're catching bullets with our heads,
And hearts and all the darkest
Parts of us, it's strange to find such light,
In such endless night.

One night over half a decade ago, I randomly decided to listen to my Shrek CD, put All Star by Smash Mouth on repeat, and write down every single lyric. It took me about an hour... and ever since then I've had the song memorized.

You people are weird. How is it possible to only know the words to three or four songs? I must know hundreds.

Does this mean memorized, as in the little music bits as well?
Cos I can do a lot more if I'm singing along to the song.
I'm surprised if any Radiohead fan doesn't know Paranoid Android, or basically all of OK Computer by heart.

sometimes i feel i've got to
run away, i've got to
get away
from the pain you drive into the heart of me
the love we shared
seems to go nowhere
and i lost my life
for i toss and turn i can't sleep at night.

once i ran to you
now i run from you
this tainted love you've given
i give you all a boy could give you
take my tears and that's not nearly allllll.
tainted love.
oh... tainted love.

Most of Weird Al's songs. A bunch of guitar hero songs. A few more. I dunno.
