All Star and I Just Wanna See by Smashmouth. I read both of their lyrics in the little booklet that came along with Astro Lounge back in 4th grade, and I decided to memorize them.

The only two songs I can think of right now are Epic by Faith No More and Sabotage by Beastie Boys.

Ticking away the hours that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your hometown
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way

Tired of sitting in the sunshine
Staying at home to watch the rain
You are young and life is long
And there is time to kill today
And then one day you find
Ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run
You missed the starting gun

And you run and you run to catch up with the Sun
But it's sinking
And racing around to come up behind you again
The Sun is the same in a relative way
But you're older
Shorter of breath, and one day closer to death

Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
All the plans have come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet
Desperation is the English way
The time is gone,
The song is over,
Thought I'd something more to say!

...That was from memory.

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale
A tale of a fateful trip
That started from a tropic port
Aboard this tiny ship

The mate was a mighty sailin' man
The skipper brave and sure
Five passengers set sail that day
For a three-hour tour, a three-hour tour

The weather started getting rough
The tiny ship was tossed
If not for the courage of the fearless crew
The Minnow would be lost, the Minnow would be lost

The ship set ground on the shore of this
Uncharted desert isle
With Gilligan
The Skipper too
The millionaire
And his wife
The movie star
The Professor and Mary Ann
Here on Gilligan's Isle!

By the way, in the first season the penultimate line was "and the rest". You can imagine that the people who played those roles were pretty ticked.

Not sure I can do it anymore....

You know what? I'm just gonna stop.

Several TMBG songs, like Particle Man and Birdhouse in Your Soul, to name a few, and also this.

After having taken Spanish for 6 years, that was roffly the first time I saw it.

The most recent is Two Weeks in Hawaii by hellogoodbye, I think.

Your drawing's rad and I
Put it on my wall and
I made sure it wouldn't fall
Cause if it did
My straw wrapper might tear
There would be no knot
And I would feel like I'd been shot right through the heart
And I'd fall apart
But I'd remember how my heart stops every time

Okay. I had no idea what the second half of that verse even meant before I looked it up.

I don't think I've ever been able to sing a song off by heart. I can sing along to songs flawlessly, I just can't sing them without the music.

For me
Iron Man- Black Sabbath (most of it anyway)
Poet and the Pendulum- Nightwish (the refrain)
Numb- Linkin Park
Resolution- Emigrate (well, part of it)

As you can see, I only have a few, and only 1 is fully memorized.

Keep away, you spitting cat!
Keep away, you stupid duck!
Give me my homestarrunner,
'Cause it is on him I'm stuck!

At the end of my hard day, homestar takes the pain away!
It would heal my broken heart,
just to watch this work of art!
Homestarrunner, I don't know what I'd do,
without you!

the poopsmith's business is your
business, the KOT, has no wife!

At the end of my hard day, homestar takes the pain away!
It would heal my broken heart,

Its been one week since you looked at me
Cocked your head to the side and said "I'm angry."
Five days since you laughed at me
Saying get that together come back and see me.
Three days since the living room
I realized its all my fault, but couldn't tell you
Yesterday you'd forgiven me
But it'll still be two days till I say I'm sorry

Hold it now and watch the hoodwink
As I make you stop, think
You'll think you're looking at Aquaman
I summon fish to the dish, although I like the Chalet Swiss
I like the sushi cause its never touched a frying pan
Hot like wasabe when I bust rhymes
Big like Leann rimes
Because I'm all about value
Bert Kaempfert's got the mad hits
You try to match wits
You try to hold me but I bust through
Gonna make a break and take a fake
I'd like a stinkin achin shake
I like vanilla, it's the finest of the flavors
Gotta see the show, cause then you'll know
The vertigo is gonna grow
Cause it's so dangerous, you'll have to sign a waiver

How can I help it if I think you're funny when you're mad
Trying hard not to smile though I feel bad
I'm the kind of guy who laughs at a funeral
Cant understand what I mean?
Well, you soon will
I have a tendency to wear my mind on my sleeve
I have a history of taking off my shirt

It's been one week since you looked at me
Threw your arms in the air and said, "you're crazy."
Five days since you tackled me
I've still got the rug burns on both my knees
It's been three days since the afternoon
You realized its not my fault not a moment too soon
Yesterday you'd forgiven me
And now I sit back and wait till you say youre sorry

Chickity china the Chinese chicken
You have a drumstick and your brain stops tickin'
Watchin'
X-files with no lights on, were dans la maison
I hope the smoking man's in this one
Like Harrison Ford I'm getting
Frantic
Like Sting, I'm tantric
Like Snickers, guaranteed to satisfy
Like Kurasawa, I make mad films
Okay I don't make films
But if I did they'd have a samurai
Gonna get a set of better clubs
Gonna find the kind with tiny nubs just so my
Irons aren't always flying off the back-swing
Gotta get in tune with sailor moon
Cause that cartoon has got the boom anime babes
That make me think the wrong thing

How can I help it if I think you're funny when you're mad
Trying hard not to smile though I feel bad
I'm the kind of guy who laughs at a funeral
Cant understand what I mean? you soon will
I have a tendency to wear my mind on my sleeve
I have a history of losing my shirt

It's been one week since you looked at me
Dropped your arms to your sides and said I'm sorry
Five days since I laughed at you
And said you just did just what I thought you were gonna do
Three days since the living room
We realized were both to blame, but what could we do?
Yesterday you just smiled at me
Cause it'll still be two days till we say were sorry
It'll still be two days till we say were sorry
It'll still be two days till we say were sorry
Birchmount stadium, home of the Robbie

I think I won the thread.

It's a great song.

I would have done it if not for my immense amount of laziness.

It's a god awful small affair
To the girl with the mousy hair
But her mummy is yelling no
And her daddy has told her to go.

But her friend is no where to be seen
Now she walks through her sunken dream
To the seats with the clearest view
And she's hooked to the silver screen.

But the film is a saddening bore,
And she's lived it ten time or more.
She could spit in the eyes of fools
As they ask her to focus on

Sailors
Fighting in the dance hall
Oh man!
Look at those caveman go.
It's the freakiest show.
Take a look at the lawman
Beating up the wrong guy.
Oh man!
Wonder if he'll ever know...
He's in the best selling show.

Is there life on Mars?

It's on America's tortured brow
That Mickey Mouse has grown up a cow.
Now the workers have struck for fame.
Cause Lennon's on sale again.

See the mouse and their million hordes
From Ibeza to the Norfolk Broads.
Rule Britannia is out of my bounds
To my mother my dog and clowns.

But the film is a saddening bore.
Cause I wrote it ten times or more.
It's about to be writ again
As I ask her to focus on

Sailors
Fighting in the dance hall
Oh man!
Look at those cavemen go.
It's the freakiest show.
Take a look at the lawman beating up the wrong guy
Oh man!
Wonder if they'll ever know
He's in the best selling show.

I've memorised plenty of good songslike Bohemian Rhapsody, Tribute, and about 50 different Muse songs.

But the only song that I memorised for no reason is this one that I don't even know the name of:

Well, the days start coming and they don't stop coming
break to the rules and I hit the ground running.
Didn't make sense not to live for fun,
your brain get's smart but your head gets dumb.
So much to do, so much to see
so what's wrong with taking the backstreets.

You'll never know if you don't go.
You'll never shine if you don't glow.

Hey now, you're an all-star
get your game on,
go play!
Hey now, you're a rock star
get the show on,
get paid!

All that glitters is gold.
Only shooting stars break the mould.

I used to know the whole thing, just 'cos all the kids in my class memorised it. I only remember the chorus now, as that was a few years ago.

I hate hip-hop.

So why is it I know the words to most of the songs playing out there on the radio? It's because they make them catchily repeat the SAME THINGS OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

It saddens me. I don't like singing along to hip-hop. :-(
