Stop being such an amazing artist. You're making the little ones feel bad.

Exactly. Plus, all I have to work with is MS Paint so I don't really have a choice.

Eh, I lied. The last CD cover I posted sucked too much, and I've gotten more used to Photoshop now with several tutorials. Here's version 2.0 of my friend's CD...in THUMBNAIL FORM! *oohs and aahs*

Hmm...what is it about the new one that you don't like? I dropped the old one because the text looked too plain and none of its details would show up when printed out in the dimensions of the CD cover (5.25x5.25 inches). Suggestions are always appreciated in DiskLand.

As a graphic artist/photoshop-type person, I'll say my thoughts on it.

Disk, I like elements from both of them, and if you can combine them both it'd look really good, methinks. First off, the composition of the second is really good. Symetry isn't always your friend, the corner really works, although you could even bring it in a bit so that the center of the rings are just able to be seen.

You did a very nice job with the shiny-dipped in plastic look, but I might recommend toning it down a little bit, or even trying to fuse it with the static noise from the first. You can play with layer visibility and layer properties (like screen, overlay, linear burn) to get that done, or even a mask with a gradient to combine even that.

I'd also recommend playing with the colors a bit. The green/black settup is really eye-catching, but sometimes I think the first is too muted and sometimes the second is too bright. Just play around with it until you see a good match surface.

Hope some of that works!

Yeah, those suggestions sound pretty good. I couldn't think of a way to add extra effects to the text without screwing it up before, but now that you've reminded me of one, I think I'll try it out.

I can also bring the rings out some like you mentioned, though I think that the reason why I didn't do that before was because Flash kept rounding off the corner edges when exporting it as another image, but I can also fix that quickly.

I can probably figure out a way to adjust the green and black some, but my friend's only true requirement for the CD cover was to pretty much throw a bunch of greens and blacks together. :P

Thanks for the suggestions, man.

EDIT: Oh, and these CD-related things (the cover, friend's website, etc.) are the reason why I'm not posting as much around here. Give me a bit more time, and I'll come back here in exploding colors of awesomeness.

I've got a pretty sweet goatee there, BTG.

Also, didn't you have one that was similar, except it was about Jesus?

In actuality, the one yelling "LEEEEEEROOOOOOY JEEEEEEENKINS!!!!" was intended to be Didymus.
